[ Anyone looking into the black market sale of stolen gifts may very well find their investigation interrupted by the sound of laughter from above. ]

[ If they should look up, who could it possibly be but the Savior of Orleans Weird Bird Cutting Man Tsubame Gaeshi Person? But of course, it's not that SAMURAI, for when prompted for a name by the Zeroes at hand, he so answers: ]

My name is Island Mask, and even if God and Buddha may forgive you, you won't find me so accommodating!

[ What's a "Buddha?" The question lingers in the air among those who have never encountered that particular religion, but there's little time to consider it as Island Mask leaps from the rooftop and lands on top of a table filled with stolen gifts, sending them scattering in every direction! ]

But let it never be said that I'm not a fair man! I'll give you all up to the count of three to prepare yourselves!

REGEND OF THE SAMURAI

Mmm, I could definitely get used to this land. Nature in every direction, surrounded by beautiful women, and a penchant for battle.

[ "Before we fight, let us make merry in the name of Gladia!" So the queen had declared, but really, for certain parts of the population, is there a difference? Not for Sasaki Kojirou Island Mask, who has decided that he couldn't possibly wait until the games begin proper and has joined every single minor tournament and brawl he could find.

And so he stands atop a crowd of crumpled bodies, sword over his shoulder, obviously rather pleased with himself despite the mask covering most of his features. ]

[ Why is Island Mask threatening an innocent Keaton who HONESTLY just stumbled upon this operation? At least it'd be hard for any of the fake heroes to pretend to be a Wolfskin, no one can really duplicate those ears or tail.

Except, well. It does make him a pretty decent target. ]

[ A ball of fire whizzes past his face and toward the Definitely-Not-Kojirou. Incoming! ]

I haven't had the chance to count to three, and you've already attacked? Should I commend your courage or despair for your foolishness?

[ The attack got almost casually swatted aside by Island Mask! In fact, the mana seems to have been absorbed by the mysterious hero! Probably a Holy Knight. Definitely not managing to hide his identity very well. ]

It is in these moments, o unknown wolfkin, that we see the true nature of our foes.

[ He may be laying it on just a bit thick here, but Island Mask is always dramatic so it's probably fine? ]

To strike before the bell rings, whether it be brave or foolish, certainly means that I should feel no shame in cutting them down!

... I mean, they clearly stole stuff and try to pretend to be... you know, us.

[ But not exactly quite like them. Still, the sentiment of stealing and spreading holiday not-cheer isn't lost on Keaton, who quickly sweeps in and punches a guy once in the face, then once in the chest. No way these false heroes are going to do anything to ruin their reputation any further! ]

Also, what are you trying to say!

[ Simplify it! Besides, Keaton is partly a wolf. Your mask does NOTHING! ]

{It isn't uncommon for Men, Elves and Dwarves to tussle and test their strength. Aragorn assumes it is simply a part of life; a part of growing and maturing. He remembers fighting Elrohir and Elladan, though, in all likelihood, his brothers had been gentle with him. In every spar he had with his Elven kin, there had been an unspoken bond of respect and trust. Thus, when he sees Island Mask standing gleefully atop his opponents, he is neither intrigued nor impressed.}

[ If Island Mask's eyebrows were visible, one would obviously be raised, but Aragorn will simply have to make do with the slight crease in his features instead. ]

I faced them straight on, in a fair contest of strength and skills. Is there more honour that I lack?

[ There seems to be a fundamental lack of understanding here, certainly from the mysterious masked hero, who hasn't moved from his perch. ]

[Hakuno has to glance at the mostly-full goblet in her hand, just to make sure it's not something far stronger than what she intended to get, after seeing this spectacle. But no, an experimental sip tells her that this is actually, really happening. ....fine. She's put up with more absurd scenes, and the mask adds a certain flavor to Kojirou's normal look, anyways.]

[ No, Hakuno is not drunk, merely seeing the bond of the One Star Alliance on display! Can you believe Kojirou went and got a mask made just for this? But Island Mask turns to look at Hakuno with a smile, hopping off the pile of unconscious bodies and stepping towards her. ]

I shall have to see what this land looks like in spring. This isn't my season. But until then, I shall have to sate myself on the flowers already blooming before me.

[ The target of his gaze should be obvious even through the mask, and the cocky smirk that crosses his lips says yes, that's exactly who he means. ]

[She takes another, larger sip from her cup; this time not to reassure herself of what she's seeing, but to brace herself for what's to come. Chats with Kojirou—or rather 'chats' and a bit of extra attention—always seem to leave her weak-kneed and foggy-minded.]

[The problem with walking around as a hero was that people asked things of you all the time, even if it was something as stupid as getting their dog out of a tree. How the hell did a dog even get in a tree? It was enough to work William's nerves

But when a bunch of poor children had asked him to find their stolen presents, how could a gentleman such as himself refuse? And he had managed to track the thieves down to this location and found himself maybe a little, tiny, minuscule bit out of his league.

And then this whole thing started happening before him.]

...Island Mask? What kind of name is that?

[The criminals seem equally off put.]

[ Why else would a certain master swordsman walk around with a mask? Although really, it just makes him stand out more. The man beneath the mask is quite capable of wandering about without calling attention to himself as is. He is an Assassin after all.

But now he's just slightly confused by the questioning at hand. This is supposed to be a dramatic moment, no? ]

I hail from an island and I'm wearing a mask. It's not a very complex name I've chosen.

[Syrlya was trying a much more subtle approach to scouting out the Zeroes. He was dressed casually, out of uniform, with a simple cloak over his frame (although it doesn't do much to hide the pulsing glow on his face). He seems almost like a customer, browsing their wares and names to remember where they're operating and who needs to be pursued for theft--

And then Tsubame lands on the table and startles Syrlya so he stumbles backwards.] What--?

[He leans over to try and get a look at the man, while the Zeroes are scrambling to recover for a fight.]

[ Island Mask, who is wearing his mask, doesn't really cut the most imposing figure. He's not the tallest person around, or the most ridiculously buff, and his sword isn't even made of metal! Also, he's not wearing the heroes' uniform because that'd defeat the purpose of a disguise, right?

But perhaps anyone standing on a table, on top of a bunch of scattered presents, waving any kind of weapon around is pretty impressive. In its own way. ]

One, two...

[ He's started counting, raising his fingers as he does. ]

[Syrlya leans over to pick up one of the scattered toys, frowning at the condition it's in.] Here I was hoping these could be returned...

[He leans over to peer at both Zeroes as they grab for paltry knifes to fight with. There's nothing to be done, so he drops the gift and approaches the stall. He isn't really sure what side this "Island Mask" is on, but enemy of my enemy and all that.

So he leans over the stall to call out to the Zeroes.] There is really no need to go down violently--since you are already in the wrong, why don't you surrender? Before it ends very poorly for you.

[Finally, a job that felt a little more suited to Steve's skill set. Taking pictures of mountains and the beach a couple months back had been nice and all, but he'd much rather be taking down thieves and bad guys.

Steve's tracked them here, to the kind of back alley where he used to get his ass handed to him. That won't be happening today. He sets his eyes on the Zeroes, every muscle in his body ready to engage.

But the sudden announcement makes him look up, and Steve's eyes track the man as he lands on the table. Huh. Well, he's all for teamwork! He just might need to clear up one small misunderstanding first.]

You don't think I'm with them, do you?

[ Really, all these interruptions are killing his vibe, but what's a man to do?

Island Mask glances back at Steve, and sighs. ]

I was planning on striking down everybody who tried to run or fight back. That's usually the easiest way to weed out the kind of rascals we're dealing with.

[ And now he's explained his secret plan! ]

So unless you were intending on picking a fight, I have no quarrel with you today. Although it may be difficult to forgive even customers of stolen gifts.

[ Logic would dictate it may be a good idea to keep walking passed anyone with a mask on standing atop a pile of bodies. It also might be a good idea to argue caution that perhaps whoever the masked man was simply insane and it would be a terrible idea to talk to someone like this.

If you like the island so much, I do hope you consider staying here a bit longer. Enprise has enough trouble, it doesn't need it from masked hoodlums.

[ A much more dignified-looking man calls from the ground, and although he wears a pair of expensive sunglasses, it's clear that he's not quite as impressed as Gladia herself. ]

Is there any chance I could ask you to step down from the pile of bruised and unconscious bodies?

I wonder who that is? But there's only one man atop this pile so it must be me.

[ Totally Not Kojirou does in fact hop off the bodies, keeping up his act with what he imagines to be total obfuscation. ]

My name is not Kojirou, but rather Island Mask, he who hails from the islands!

Island Mask looks up at the strange figure, largely because Nobunaga is always strange, and frowns. ]

I am a hero of Blanc. As long as I am wearing a mask, I am by definition a masked hero, and masked heroes must play the role of masked heroes, no?

[ How convoluted, but basically Kojirou is just saying he's an actual masked hero, and fully plans on hamming it up, okay? ]

What about you? The Demon King playing at being something sacred.

[ Irisviel looks extremely puzzled. That was definitely Kojirou under that masked, so why the need for the mask. Was this an alternative form of Santa? She wasn't entirely sure about the legends surrounding Santa but there would be no doubt he'd be a formidable Heroic Spirit.

So what's she to do other than clap... slowly? ]

Applause should be thunderous, but when it's coming from these hands I suppose I can hardly ask for more.

[ Kojirou hops off the pile of defeated and walks over to Iri, the self-assured aura of a champion following his every step. ]
