why
Who: A mysterious masked hero, and you!
When: Throughout the month, honestly!
Where: Polgar and Blanc
What: The mysterious masked hero takes on Who's Naughty? Who's Nice? and also messes around in the festivities.
Rating: Extremely Silly
Destroy Bad Heroism
[ Anyone looking into the black market sale of stolen gifts may very well find their investigation interrupted by the sound of laughter from above. ]
HAHAHA!
[ If they should look up, who could it possibly be but theSavior of Orleans Weird Bird Cutting Man Tsubame Gaeshi Person? But of course, it's not that SAMURAI, for when prompted for a name by the Zeroes at hand, he so answers: ]
My name is Island Mask, and even if God and Buddha may forgive you, you won't find me so accommodating!
[ What's a "Buddha?" The question lingers in the air among those who have never encountered that particular religion, but there's little time to consider it as Island Mask leaps from the rooftop and lands on top of a table filled with stolen gifts, sending them scattering in every direction! ]
But let it never be said that I'm not a fair man! I'll give you all up to the count of three to prepare yourselves!
[ What even? ]
REGEND OF THE SAMURAI
Mmm, I could definitely get used to this land. Nature in every direction, surrounded by beautiful women, and a penchant for battle.
[ "Before we fight, let us make merry in the name of Gladia!" So the queen had declared, but really, for certain parts of the population, is there a difference? Not forSasaki Kojirou Island Mask, who has decided that he couldn't possibly wait until the games begin proper and has joined every single minor tournament and brawl he could find.
And so he stands atop a crowd of crumpled bodies, sword over his shoulder, obviously rather pleased with himself despite the mask covering most of his features. ]

regend
[ A much more dignified-looking man calls from the ground, and although he wears a pair of expensive sunglasses, it's clear that he's not quite as impressed as Gladia herself. ]
Is there any chance I could ask you to step down from the pile of bruised and unconscious bodies?
no subject
[ Totally Not Kojirou does in fact hop off the bodies, keeping up his act with what he imagines to be total obfuscation. ]
My name is not Kojirou, but rather Island Mask, he who hails from the islands!
[ And wears a mask. ]

[ Jumin closes his eyes. ]
Anyway, Sasaki Kojirou.
While your achievements are... notable, I'm afraid I don't quite understand what these Games are about. Enlighten me.
no subject
[ Kojirou sighs, but leaves the mask on. ]
They are, as the name suggests, Games. The good people of Polgar have quite the competitive, and it seems combative streak. I never thought I would again find myself in a place where martial skill could translate directly into profit, but here we are.

"Again"? You've participated in these tournaments before? [ Jumin thought he was an honorable, upstanding samurai.
... Nevermind. After recalling some of the conversations they had last dungeon, maybe he should reevaluate him. ]
Ah, no. The fact that you've participated in tournaments isn't surprising to me. I am more curious about the circumstances that led to your participation.

[ He defeated a hundred enemies in a row with Tsubame Gaeshi. Including skeleton warriors and an actual demon. ]
Ah, but is it so strange? The old masters always said an itinerant lifestyle was itself a form of training. I travelled far and wide, and experienced many things. A contest of strength falls naturally into that.

[ Roman colosseum... Were the Japanese able to travel that far in that era? Jumin has a hunch that pressing further will only complicate things, so he moves on. ]
In any case, it seems you've won many of those contests. And your reward?
no subject
Okay, yeah, probably easier not to ask. ]
I have certainly had my fair share of duels, though most had no rewards beyond pride, but for that contest I won a bag of grain for each victory. By the end I had enough to feed most of my comrades, and even some fish as a bonus. Mm, it was a good time.
