[ leo doesn't say anything anymore about jumin, although he does look bothered that sonia would ask something like that. leo has only ever taken care of his family. and even then, he does a bad job of it.

the hallway is fairly silent. they don't pass by any patient's rooms yet but instead pass offices.

he pushes open a door. it creaks. ]

You're not scared, are you?

[ To her, he and his family are still alive despite being on the run... therefore it can't have been that bad of a job. Besides, it would be difficult for Jumin to accept help to begin with.

She follows him quietly, not saying anymore when he doesn't. She does look confused when he asks her if she's scared or not though. ]

Of course not. We will not die here, after all.

[ it's not surprising that someone isn't afraid of where they are, although leo knows two people who would freak out at the prospect.

he inspects some shelves, and sees some bloody scalpels. he picks one up without hesitation and wipes the blood off his jacket. let's be real here. this weapon is a lot better than what he has. ]

Good. And we won't, [ you won't, at least, sonia. ] I can promise you that.

[ She doesn't know who he's thinking of, but ... she does take notice of what he takes. Slowly, she nods in agreement. ]

That may be a good idea; however, if it is truly a ghost we will face here, it may prove to be useless.

[ But it's true, she won't allow herself to be killed here anyway... mostly. ]

[ he looks at her as if she just grew two other heads. ]

Ghosts aren't real. This is going to be something tangible.

[ She blinks back at him. ]

[ IF SHE'S INTO SUMMONING THINGS SO MUCH... kanye shrugs. he seems to be done with the room though, so he waits by the door in case sonia wants to check some things out. ]

That is a very serious matter, please do not joke about it. If you summon something more powerful you will be very sorry. Only those who are trained in summoning should attempt such a thing.

[ She follows him out though, not really finding anything of worth in this room. It looks like a room used for training that anything long term. ]

[ jesus, she really is serious. it's a good... conversation topic while they're walking around, at least. once they reach the end of the hallway, they either have the choice to go up the emergency stairway or the lift. ~spooky~ ]

[ he nods towards the stairs, not wanting to risk getting stuck inside the lift. it's not the kind of elevator he sees in london as it looks a lot older and there aren't even any walls, just... what seems like fences. either way, it would be easier if they just went up the stairs. ]

[ leo doesn't say anything and instead considers the paths to take by trying to look as far as he can from where they are. but things start to get cool around them, and they hear whispers.

and leo's hand tightens on sonia's. ]

[ She's doing the same when the whispers and screams start. Sonia glances down at his hand, then at his face. Overall, she seems unphased. ]

Then right it is, I suppose.

[ She'll glance back towards the left before moving her feet anyway, eerily calm despite the fact that the lights seem to be getting worse now. There's also a soft whimpering of run. run faster or he'll get you as well. ]

Leo, may I ask you a question?

[ leo can feel his heart beating faster. he isn't afraid of ghosts, but what he is afraid of is death. he closes his eyes to calm himself down. there doesn't seem to be any threats just yet. he can waste maybe three seconds. ]

What is it?

[ Her own heart beat is normal, though there is a small smile on her face. She can feel all the pain of those trapped here, all their anguish. It's like coming home, in a very sick and twisted way. ]

Do you know true despair, I wonder? All of them that are trapped here... they have lived through terrible things. You can feel it, can't you? Despite telling me that you didn't believe... you can probably feel it.

[ he's experienced the complete loss of absence of hope many times. especially when he was separated from mia. it's why he drinks a lot. it's why he's tried to kill himself once. it's why he just wants out. it's why he even questions his existence. he shouldn't even be here anymore. being given the chance at another life... it's a punishment. it's not a gift.

his eyes open, and his grip on her hand loosens. ]

[ in fact, a little boy appears before them. he is missing an eye. well, apparently, leo can see "despair" now, too. ]

[ To feel true despair though, you have to have loved it. To feel it in your bones and your heart, to accept it as part of you. It isn't the same now as it had been in the past, Sonia is in recovery after all, but... she can feel the tingles of memories sparking up at the state of this place.

She gives his hand a gentle squeeze, not letting go. ]

Do you have a name?

[ She doesn't let go of Leo's hand, but she does step closer.

The little boy points behind them, staring with his one eye into the darkness of the corridor. ]

I don't remember. [ A head shake, then: ] He's coming... he's coming...

[ out of fear of death, it's leo who loses his cool first. then again, when was he ever cool? he tugs at sonia's hand so they can go the other way. ]

We need to look around quickly.

[ She tugs back. ]

Do you not realise that is the direction he is coming from? Behind us, Leo.

[ Her free hand pushes her weapon under her arm, then she reaches out as if to pat the ghost on the head. ]

It shall be alright. Please, do not worry for much longer. [ She steps around it then, glancing back over her shoulder as she attempts to pull Leo. ] This way.

dammit. fine. he goes the other way and follows sonia. ]

Sorry. [ he shakes his head and smooths a palm over his face. god. maybe he's just sleep deprived. ]

[ Look, if the ghost is that scared, you go where it's telling you to run. ]
