Atsushi
01 - Cooking Tiger
[Today is the day that he's finally worked up enough nerve to venture into the kitchens. It makes him nervous, even though none of the staff seem that bothered by his presence, and nobody has yelled at him that he's in the way and doesn't belong. After a lot of awkward shuffling about, Atsushi seems to have gotten it together enough to get down to what he came to the kitchen for in the first place.
After a bit of work, he can be found happily standing over a rather large bowl of chazuke - tea poured over rice. The steaming rice dish has varied ingredients floating about, too. Pickled vegetables, fish, sesame seeds. It's not exactly the same as he would be able to make back home, but's close, and even if it might not look pretty, it at least smells good.]
02 - Letter go, letter go
[Atsushi has no experience with writing letters. Why would he? He can't think of a single instance in his life where someone might have wanted anything he might have written, let alone a personal letter. Still, even without the promise of being paid for his efforts-- which is a bonus, to be sure, it just feels right to be doing what he can to bring some cheer to those impacted by events in Friedgood.
Even though his handwriting isn't great and he's somehow smeared ink on his hands and face without realizing it, Atsushi is doing his best to put heartfelt feelings into the letters he's composing. As wrapped up as he is in penning notes of encouragement in sloppy handwriting, he isn't that focused on anything else going around him, so he may not even notice that anyone else has approached him unless they speak up.]
03 - Mackin' cheese please
[Vending machines are a common enough sight back home, and while Atsushi generally doesn't splurge on actually buying anything from them if he can help it, he's decided to give it a go, just this once. Free food is best, but he's curious about some of the new treats for sale.
Of course, vending machines don't actually care what anyone ever wants, which is why instead of sampling a bit of a possibly delicious new snacks, he's staring at the machine forlornly. As happens all too often, his purchase has gotten stuck between the glass and the row of food, so it seems to be hovering in front of his face, mocking him. He rests his head on the glass, silently beseeching the machine for mercy.
Silent vending machine prayers are also no good, so should anyone come upon him after far too long spent hoping for treats, they may find him crouched on the ground, arm shoved into the machine up to his shoulder as he tries another tried-and-true method of dislodging stubborn food from vending machines. He can't exactly hide what he was doing, so anyone he sees will be greeted with wide eyes and a guilty look.]
Oh... hello there? I'm just-- it ate my money?
[Obviously.]
[wildcard; come at me, I'm here for all of the things.]
Lavi
01 - Reading is FUNdamental
[Lavi is actually quite pleased with his new status as a Bishop; he doesn't have to feel as powerless, and there's a whole wealth of new things for him to study up on. It's a win-win as far as he's concerned.
While learning to work with his new weapon (an oversized scarf, which must be someone's idea of a hilarious joke, and he's a little bit inclined to agee) is something that only time and practice can help with, he's found that other talents can be put to more immediate use.
'More immediate use' meaning he's built himself a tiny table-fort of books in the library, because what good is being able to read them even faster if he's not working his way through all the endless volumes the library holds? Unfortunately, in his eagerness for reading Everything Ever, he's managed to stumble upon a less than delightful combination of dizziness and blurry vision from attempting to Scan far too much in a short amount of time.
Don't mind him. He's just going to slumped over in his chair, face pressed against the table and eye shut as he tries to wait out the effects. At least he probably won't wind up dozing off in the library again.]
02 - Alchemy 101
[Scanning isn't the only thing he wants to become more acquainted with. While dabbling with alchemy was never something he had seriously considered before getting stuck with the Hero gig, but here he is.
He's found a small workroom in the Hero Hall for trying out a few simpler alchemical creations, though he wisely has the window open just in case of any... accidents. If anyone happens to be walking by, they may hear the clink of metal and glass and steady stream of muttering about ratios and various ingredients. If anyone happens to be walking by a short time later, they may here a surprised yell and a minor explosion.
Thankfully (?) nothing is actually on fire, though Lavi is patting down his clothes because that was a close one. There's a mess of shattered jars and some different powders scattered about, and he's giving the area a considering look.]
Less saltpeter, more sugar? Maybe aluminum or magnesium with this instead...
[This will probably not be his last explosion for the day.]
03 - Can I go with the same title for a different letter prompt??
[Really, how hard can letter writing be? Lavi doesn't write letters; once he moves on to a new record, the people he's met before get relegated to merely being history anyway, so there's never been anyone he would have kept in contact with.
He can see why people would enjoy it though, and there's certainly nothing unusual with people needing a bit of encouragement, especially after recent events. Plus, it doesn't hurt to earn some extra money for essentially just writing things down. He can be found in various areas like the library or roof with letter-writing accessories and a stack of blank pages next to a much smaller stack of folded, completed letters. Judging from the way he keeps letting his attention wander from the task at hand, he's likely due for a break from jotting down encouraging but empty words to people he hasn't met.]
[wildcard; seriously!! come at me, I'm here for all of the things all of the time.]

1!
At first, she was going to just simply let him study (possibly giving him a passing wave as she went), but seeing him slumped over his work, she had a better idea. ]
Lavi.
[ Remember those nice new Gammonian vending machines? They're pretty handy, actually, and holding a (cold) bottle at his temple, she bent over slightly, a positively glowing smile on her face.
Try not to scream in here, you'll get in trouble~ ]
no subject
The startlingly cold glass against his temple squashes those thoughts, though, and he yelps in surprise-- hopefully not loud enough to draw the ire of any library staff. The shock of coldness makes him jump at the same time, though, yep, he's still being plagued with blobbing splotches of color in his vision.
With a groan, he slumps back down, resting his head on one arm yet somehow mushing his face further onto the table.]
WhacanIdoforyouLux?
[Let him wallow in misery just a little bit longer?]
no subject
Maybe that wasn't the best thing to do. So instead, she'll set it within arm's reach, sliding into the seat beside him. ]
You know, they say that a break after every 90 minutes of intense study will help your productivity by at least sixty-percent.
[ ...Okay, so she pulled that number out of thin air, but the thought was there. ]
I really hope you aren't intending to read all of this in one sitting, especially not with the state you're in.

Everything's fine, just dealin' with a bit of a learning curve. [Why do you look so concerned, bro.] Didn't make that much noise, did it?

[anyway, time to STICK HER HEAD IN, waving her hand through the smoke]
Lavi! Are you alright?! [uwoo her bff, lavi!! except it's her bff lavi pinging all of her 'DANGEROUS SCIENCE??? DANGEROUS SCIENCE!!!' instincts...] What are you doing? Are you supposed to be in here?
[whose workroom did u MESS UP]
no subject
Hey, Lenalee-- yeah, I'm good. [Although... he's not even surprised or offended that she thinks he doesn't belong in here. He sort of feels that way, too.]
I'm learnin'. [People cause minor explosions in the pursuit of knowledge all the time. Some people probably do, at least?] S'a free room as long as nobody else is using it, so I claimed it for now. This way I can stay out of trouble, yeah?
no subject
That only works when you actually stay out of trouble, you know. [But it's more teasing than stern, because she's used to Lavi's Antics. She peers at one of the beakers.] You said you're learning, but... I don't remember you doing experiments like these back home.

1 for tiger son atsushi
[that is, until she sees Atsushi with his chazuke... which incidentally smells good, so Lenalee kind of veers along his direction -- realizing a few steps away that she's a) hungry and b) approaching Atsushi even though he's busy eating??? so she STOPS before she's too awkwardly close.]
[quick, time to say something before she makes it weird]
That smells wonderful.
[......okay maybe she made it 50% weird]
no subject
He whips his head up, immediately feeling like he's done something wrong despite the compliment. He stares at her for a second, then relaxes, smiling sheepishly.] Does it? I'm glad, it's the first time I've been able to make it here.
[And he really shouldn't be rude, not after she said something nice about it!!] Would you... would you like some?

3 - Atsushi
Atsushi? [There's something so guilty about his expression that she can't help but snicker a little.] Have you tried asking one of the maids or butlers for help?
no subject
Ehm... I did think about it, but they have enough to do without worrying about something silly like this. [He says, unmoving from his spot in front of the vending machine.] I would rather not bug them, if I can help it.

Which is why Atsushi should absolutely not use words like "ate" when describing how the machine wronged him. ]
Actually, I think it ate more than that. ... A-Are you okay?
no subject
Oh--! No, I mean, yes, I'm fine, it's just-- [Give him a minute, he's got to extricate himself. He's totally pretending not to panic as he gets stuck around the elbow region for several seconds too long, but at last he wrenches his arm free and winds up wobbling backwards to sit on the floor.]
See? It's just that I put some money it and now it's having some trouble working properly.

Perhaps you could get your money back from the officials who set the machines up, if there are still any around.

He's also a bit in awe, because he didn't know people could just walk around being that huge.]
That's a good idea. I um, hadn't thought of doing that. [It's a good plan, though, and he brightens a bit.] I'm sure they'll understand once I explain it to them.

[ It's mildly aghast. Did you learn nothing from living around the Science Department. ]

He really can't fault Allen for the way he burst in or his tone. They're both more than familiar enough with experiments gone wrong that Lavi should know better, yet here he is.]

[He shook his head. This was unbelievable. He looked at the food inside the machine.]
You have any idea how much this food is worth?

I know it's not worth very much, but it's right there, and I did pay, so I just wanted to see if I could get it to wiggle loose.

At the moment, Setsuna is having his own meal. They coincidentally happen to be on the same long table. He minds his own business for now, eating with considerable manners as he remains quiet. His Carrier however, is acting differently. A ball-shaped mechanical sheep is constantly rolling back and forth across the long table, letting out energetic beeps or flapping its ears time to time. ]
no subject
Atsushi is still trying to be as unobtrusive as possible, including threatening his Carrier with no food if it keeps trying to fight people, but he is eating and watching Setsuna's Carrier roll around on the table with interest.
After a particular enthusiastic series of beeps and rolls, Atsushi laughs quietly, then looks up at Setsuna, embarrassed.]
Sorry-- but it looks like it's having a really good time.
sorry for the wait!!
2!! for atsushi
Either way, Sakura is trying to be as unobtrusive as possible as she skulks around the room, but it's fairly obvious that she's looking for something. She quietly checks behind chairs, under tables, anywhere a person could conceivably lose something very embarrassing but important nonetheless, only pausing every once in a while to wring her hands and cast her eyes around the room sadly.
Ah, if she really did lose it...
The worry has left her so single-minded on her task that she barely notices anyone else in the room with her, least of all Atsushi, as she bends down and... crawls underneath the table he's sitting at. Don't mind her down here. Maybe she even accidentally brushes up against his leg. It's fine. ]
no subject
Atushi is kind of minding his own business and spacing out, thinking Unnecessary Atsushi Thoughts and doing his normal amount of fretting. At the moment he's also distracted with fussing at his Carrier, because it keeps trying to scare people that get too close. It's why he's actually got him on the table, and he's trying to give him a very serious lecture about playing nice with everyone else.
And it's why he doesn't notice Sakura until she bumps into him, causing him to screech and jump halfway out of his chair, banging his knee against the bottom of the table.
Sakura, why. He mushes his Carrier in the face before it can do anything, then scoots back and looks under the table.]
H-hello?
