Happy Luna-- I mean, First Bloom Festival! ♥
[So, you know how some of the wealthier elders are giving out pretty red packets to the younger ones? If you open up any of them, there's money inside it. COLD, HARD COLLE. It's the best tradition ever, unless you're the senior giving them out. In that case, it's incredibly taxing to your wallet.
However, despite not really having much money in her possession, Tamamo has taken it upon herself to distribute many of these red packets herself! They don't really have too much colle in each one... maybe 100, at most... but it's the thought that counts.
You see, red packets are distributed from the seniors to the juniors. And what better way to showcase her marital status than to give out free packets of money?! Yes, she's your senior, because she's married. 100% taken. Married couples normally give out red packets, after all, or at least, back in Tamamo's world.
If she recognizes you and like you, maybe you'll get one with a generous 200 colle, or maybe she'll just give you several at once. If she recognizes you and doesn't like you, maybe she'll give you the one with, idk, 10 colle.
It's still something.]
something else;
[HIT ME UP]
no subject
Is this for me?
[ He turns it over in his hands before pressing it back into Tamamo's. ]
Keep it. I have no use for it.
no subject
So she decides to try explaining the gesture, instead.] Oh, no, no, no! I'm not doing this for charity, see. According to custom, those who are married should give red packets to others on this day!
[It's highly simplified, but she gives a sharp nod, smiling to herself before pushing it back.] It's for good luck!
[TAKE IT, DAMMIT.]
no subject
Are these not for the younger ones?
[ Pushes it back too. ]
no subject
Oh, you don't understand, I'm actually quite old, despite my youthful appearance! A few centuries, really. So please!
[Her smile twitches as she pushes it back. Again.]

...Why are you giving me this?
no subject
Ho, ho, ho! You see, married couples give out red packets like these with money in them to the unmarried people around them, to express their seniority and their well-wishes for the future. [So, it's kind of like a good-luck charm, but also to show off her marital status.]
So, here you go! ...Wait, unless you're married?
no subject
[Dust either misses or chooses to ignore the aggressiveness with which she asserts her status.] I'm sorry you're separated from your beloved... but it's good to see you're not letting that get you down.
no subject
[That's true... but yes. It's good to see he's grateful, at least!] Thank you very much! I'm sure this separation can't last forever. As a Hero, we should hold hope for ourselves, then for this kingdom!
[That's actually kinda inspirational. Wow, Tamamo.]
...Even if it did, it's not the first time it's happened, anyway!

An arm is already carrying a brown paper bag with personal groceries, so his free hand is the one holding her gift. He stands completely still, blinking once or twice as he stops walking for now. ]
no subject
But! Tamamo will explain, as she ever-so-graciously does to every confused soul.] It's a red packet, with money in it! Think of it as well-wishes for this festival.
As a married woman, it's a duty for someone with my seniority to wish someone else the best, of course!
[IS SHE REALLY MARRIED, SHE LOOKS, LIKE, 18, MAYBE...]
no subject
Well wishes?
[ Duty of a married woman? He can't grasp the concept right away... He still looks confused, but at least he kind of gets it now. Kind of. He's trying to piece out the logic, and comes up with the conclusion that she probably means wishes in romance. Maybe...?
Oh. If this is really the case, then he feels bad now!! Especially as... she looks so young, he can't possibly take something from her. ]
Wait... You need this more than I do.

While she doesn't know this woman, strange tail and ears and all, she still can't NOT accept a gift like that as it's handed to her, because that would be far more insulting, wouldn't it? ]
E-Eh? [ She's surprised, even as she politely takes the offer in both hands, looking down and then back up again. ]
Thank you very much. B-But really, you didn't have to...
no subject
[Tamamo's totally got this whole 'selfless generosity to the less fortunate masses without any game' thing down, man. 100% down pat.
In all seriousness, since Maki does seem to recognize the red packet, she beams from ear to ear, swishing her fox tail.] May your New Ye-- I mean... First Bloom festival be full of happiness, prosperity, and romance!
[...thx tamamo]

[ She looks down at the (thin) envelope, but nods in response to the other girl's question. It's only natural that people give out money like this on New Year's but she hadn't really expected that to happen right now! It's definitely not new the beginning of the year where she is from! The school year just ended! ]
R-Romance?! [ That word catches her by surprise the most. Her face lights up bright red and she even takes a step back, catching herself. ] I-I have more important things to do right now. [ Does she though? ]

[ Astrid looks startled but not unwilling to take the packet, smiling automatically a little bit. The dragon on her shoulder looks interested, and Astrid passes the packet up to her Carrier. ]
...Thanks. But I don't have anything to give you in return...um, wait. [ She did purchase some flowers earlier, and after a second, she hands Tamamo a purple one. ] Is this okay?
no subject
Even if this person might not get the point of red packets, it's a nice gesture.] Oh, thank you so much! Too many of the youth nowadays just take whatever they can without giving back. It's heartwarming to see this!
[What do you mean, 'too many of the youth nowadays'... as if Tamamo isn't one of them, she looks 18. (she isnt btw)]
no subject
[ Because let's face it; more than half of the heroes are most likely unmarried
virgins. Tamamo, are you really going to risk bankruptcy just to show off your marital status?the answer is yes. she should. rub it in their sad single faces with pocket money. ]
no subject
Oh, you're welcome! And of course, being new here isn't an excuse not to join in the festivities and be generous with what I do have.
[which is nothing. all her money is in these packets. rip her. unmarried virgins are the truest bloodsuckers of $$$. Depending on whether Slaine is wearing casual clothes or still in that dumb Hero uniform, she'll say something about other Heroes are no exception to enjoying tradition or I'm a Hero, but that doesn't make me exempt.]
no subject
For someone to offer a thief money? What an upside-down world.]
Thank you kindly for the present, but I don't need it.
no subject
Oh, it's not just a present! It's part of the tradition in this festival, after all. [Right, she's not actually a very generous person otherwise.] You see, the married should hand money to the unmarried in these red packets as well-wishes.
Unless, of course... oh, are you married? I'm terribly sorry if you are! [UNLIKE LORD LIGHT Lupin does have the whole
otome gamecharm thing going on, so maybe he might actually be.]no subject
[Lupin bows.] My mistake, madame. If it is part of the tradition, then I shall accept it. Though, I'd rather give the money to someone who would need it more.
[A tip of the hat, since he is
an otome game heroa cultured gentleman.Only in his true ending]Please send my regards to your husband as well.
