[TAMAMO STOP PUSHING HER SHE'S OBVIOUSLY NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT IT. Still, Maki's reaction actually reminds her a bit of someone else she knows, and also of herself, perhaps in the far-distant past.]

I mean, this festival only comes once a year, doesn't it? You only have so much time to enjoy with the lion dances and the fireworks! Of course, if there's absolutely no one you could think of to spend this precious time...

[She doesn't need Maki to tell her who it is, but she does hope Maki does go for it, if there is someone. GO GO, MAKI. FIGHTO.]

[ Oops, that definitely came out wrong. And just as soon as Maki realizes she said Nico's name in relation to enjoying herself she finds her face all the redder, quickly bringing her finger to her hair, twirling it like crazy. ]

I-I mean just because I've spent time with her at other festivals with just the two of us doesn't mean I always need to be with her!!

[ Oh yes, she remembers that night. The both of them in yukatas. Maki's new getas digging painfully into her foot until she couldn't walk anymore. Nico teasing her and helping her sit down. The two of them watching the fireworks together, wishing the night would never end.

[OH, SHE SEES WHAT'S GOING ON. Well, Tamamo really doesn't, and she thinks she might've heard a bit more than Maki was willing to give. Oops? Oh well. She continues smiling from ear to ear, waving at Maki.]

No need to be shy! Friend or anything more, it's good to treasure time spent apart and together.

Of course, it doesn't need to be with 'Nico-chan'. Just enjoy your youth while you can!

[ Maki is always saying more than she really means to give. This is the way of the awkwardly aloof tsundere. It's almost a joke at this point that everyone knows how much Maki cares for her upperclassman, despite her constant denials. ]

W-Who said anything about "anything more"?!

[ Her face is red, and she's having trouble not stammering through her sentences. It's nice to know that the girl wouldn't object to her if anything happened.. but as far as Maki is concerned they are just friends, nothing more. She's also good at lying to herself. ]

I know that. But it would be a lot easier to enjoy my youth if I hadn't been kidnapped and brought to a strange world where nothing makes any sense...
