Who: William Twining (
notsolomon) and you!
When: 10/23-11/31
Where: Various places in Blanc
What: The jobs "don't stop til' you get enough," and "insaneJournal." Also a free post for non-job related threads.
Rating: None
I: Carbuncle Hunting
[It's been hours tramping through the forest and there is no carbuncle in sight. William's getting fed up with the way their noble purpose is being thwarted. Doesn't the creature value the possibility of contributing to science? But there is no point in being too cross and the day is a pleasant one, so after a moment he proposes that the two of you sit down. And enjoy the picnic basket of food he brought just for this occasion. Because you can’t work on an empty stomach. And maybe the carbuncle would like some food too. Treating it to a good meal would be a fair exchange for it's gem.]
I swore the local people said there were some of those creatures in here. Hopefully they're just shy.
II: Haunted Hospital Time [closed to Yew]
[William had come to accept the very real existence of the supernatural over a year ago. It was hard not to when you kept running into demons and angels who wanted to either A, kill you or B, wine and dine you. Of course, there were certain things he still had doubts about. Like ghosts. Though at least it was only a doubt and not a ridiculously powerful desperation to ignore the horror of reality.
But now that William was wavering, he wished to confirm the truth about spectors and this job provided the perfect opportunity. So here he was with a notebook in hand and a very unfortunate companion.]
Come on, Yew. Let’s get going. I didn’t stay up this late for you to get cold feet.
<[Is he being a bit merciless? Yes. Yes he is. Sorry bro. But it's time to push on through those hospital doors.]
II: Haunted Hospital [Open to everyone]
[Despite everything that happened the first time he went through the hospital, William’s elected to go again. After all, there are people who could surely benefit from his guidance. And he does want to read those pages he missed. The part of him that loves a good mystery is curious.
So have a fearless William with you, one who is now immune to the jump scares, because it just stops being terrifying after the tenth time. You’ll definitely be okay. For sure.]
III: Wildcard/Chilling around Blanc
[Want to hunt for something other than carbuncles? Or want to modify one of the above prompts? Go for it! We can also do non-job prompts like studying, training and even just shopping or having tea! Don’t be afraid to throw up a prompt or pm me so I can write a top level!]

So he's gallantly moving along through one of the halls with this orange leg wrap and his fairy carrying a lantern.]
It's a lot money Wander. And besides, Vlad the Impaler is long dead and nothing to worry about.
no subject
[His grip around William's leg tightens.]
Then that means his ghost might be here. Oh, it's even worse!! He'll haunt our blood and garlic won't stop him!
[Wynona was not afraid of no ghost. She followed under the fairy, batting her multiple pairs of eyes at her. Pretty fairy. Someday, she will get her hugs.]
no subject
[And as they are walking, a bench suddenly bounces and rattles.]
See, we have more important things to worry about than dead Princes.
no subject
From this height, Wander could see something over the pile of rusty old cots and tables, something impossibly long and moving.]
It's Dracula, Will! Over there!!
[But by the time he pointed at it, it was already gone.]
no subject
It's not Dracula. It's probably just one of the other ghosts here. That or it's a rat.
[Which is ugh, because he doesn't want to deal with any furry disease vector.]
But let's have a look here...
[William said as he went to pear at the spot it had been at, stepping around bits of refuse.]
no subject
[Oh, how much he wanted to believe it was only a rat. Unwilling to let William go alone, Wander climbed down and moved to sit on his shoulder. The closer they came, the more Wander shivered. The slightest noise had him on edge. The wind howling through the window? Terrifying. The pile of metal shifting? Horrifying. The eerie slender creature standing in the doorway behind them?]
GROP, HE'S RIGHT THERE!!
[Hopefully William did not mind having Wander clinging to his head, replacing his yellow hair with his orange fur. He pointed again, but it was gone. Again.]
no subject
[For a little guy, he is... dense. William quickly swivels around to the door, but missed the shadow.]
Are you sure you are not seeing things?
[But he's going towards the door with the intent of looking out of it, in case something is outside. Who knows what will come of this totally bold and not reckless gesture?]
no subject
I'm positive, Will. Come on, maybe this isn't such a great idea. We should leave! And never come back! Yeah, that sounds like a much better plan to me.
[As they neared the door, a flash of claws emerged. Long, tendril-like fingers peeled the paint off in thin lines as it grasped the doorframe, trying to fit its sinewy body through. Wander was now a screaming orange ball of fluff.]
no subject
[And yep, he will actually give into Wander's screams and get them away from whatever that was.]
I will admit that this was a miscalculation on my part.
no subject
Uh, Will? Iiii think we got to go back. I don't know, Drac seemed lonely.
[Wynona's jaws dropped. Was he crazy?! She was not going back there! The reptile flicked her tongues defiantly and planted her rump on the floor.]
no subject
You were the one who wanted to run away.
[At least Wynona is backing him up. Artemisia is looking back and forth, unsure though. She's torn between obedience to William and her ridiculous, goody two shoes desire to help everything ever. What is a fairy to do?]
...but, fine we can go back. But the moment something goes wrong, we are leaving.
[He wasn't a coward by any means, but that was a bit more than William was prepared for.]
no subject
[He hugged William's leg as thanks for agreeing before leading the way back.]
Mr. Dracula? I'm really sorry for screaming at you.
[No answer. He turned the corner and tried again.]
Let's start over! Folks call me Wander, and these are my buddies, William, Artemisia, and Wynona! ... Mr. Dracula?
[Wait! Was that... was that crying he heard? Oh no, it was worse than he thought! Wander hurried down the hallways.]
no subject
He's crying?
[Oh god. But he sprints after Wander, not bothering to try and stop him or tell him to wait. Artemisia is keeping pace with him, now all concern.
When they get near the area where the crying is coming from, William decides that he has no choice but to go along with this.]
Sir, if you have a grievance, crying won't do you any good. Come out and address it to us instead.
[And please don't let it be anything inane, please.]
no subject
Oh, what's wrong? Having a bad day? Well I know a few ways to...
[The man threw his head back and screamed. His body soaked with blood, the spirit dissipated as he flew through the wall. Wander said nothing. He only fell over, scared stiff. It was at this moment Wynona decided to brush up against William's leg. After all, the only thing worse than going back, was to be left alone.]
no subject
Artemisia was clinging against his shoulder, hiding her face. William lowered his hand and carefully brushed one of Wynona's heads starting the wall. Was that a... blood splatter he saw on the wall, or a shadow.]
I do not think you can help that one, Wander.
[Not easily at least.]
Do you want to continue onwards though?
no subject
[Clearing his throat, he got back up and readjusted his hat.]
Yes. Folks here need help, and I won't leave until I've made their afterlife a little brighter! [He gulped to ease the shivers.] I'm sure they don't mean to be scary, right? Let's try again with Mr. Dracula. I think he's...
[Picking a random direction, Wander walked ahead.]
... This way!
no subject
Well I think it has to be helping them move onto... wherever it is they would go from here.
But to do that, we will have to get him to talk and calm down from his state of hysteria.
[It was hard to tell which way the ghost had gone through the walls, so William was content to follow for the moment and not correct Wander though. Besides, he had a suspicion the ghost might find them instead.]
no subject
[Wynona nervously nudged her snouts against Wander and he embraced her in return. The first turn led them into a dark, miserable examination room. Some dusty furniture lie crumpled in the corner, but no spirits inhabited the area. The next room was similarly empty, and the one after that. Wander frowned.]
Do you think he got scared away?
[Wynona did not like this. She could not shake the feeling they were being watched.]
no subject
[Granted, it might be that they wouldn't have a chance to try a better approach with every room being empty. Though William did get the feeling of a presence here, much like that feeling when you knew there were other people in the house. Only these people were dead.]
Maybe he's done for the night. I mean there's a reason we're here at night and not during the day.
[There's a creek, but William ignores it, hoping it's just an old building settling on it's foundation. It sure as hell better be.]
no subject
[While Wander wondered, he set his sights on the creaky door. Maybe that was him! He took a deep breath, put on his best, if a little nervous smile, and then he opened the door. Inky darkness lurked within, obscuring everything inside. The sounds of scratching came from inside, that familiar sound of a sharp quill scrawling on parchment. How could someone be writing without any light to see?
Wander looked at William, perplexed. Well, if someone was in there...
... He ran inside, much to Wynona's shock.]
no subject
He stepped inside cautiously, not that afraid at this point, Artemisia bringing in the light. Which seemed to actually be swallowed by the darkness. Well, that was different.
And not fair.]
Hello? Is anyone there?
[The scribbling paused for a second and then continued. Wow, it really was hard to navigate in here.]
no subject
The doctor walked away from his notes and approached the man strapped down to the cot, the same man from before. Scared to the point of crying, he begged for mercy yet to no avail. The doctor began his spell. Wander quickly ran between them.]
Hey, wait a sec, let's not get too hasty! I'm not entirely sure what's going on here, but maybe we can talk about it first?
no subject
Doctor, while I am sure that an ethical argument will not work on you...
[Because let's face it, they wouldn't even be on this job if this man had known what ethics were.]
...I would appeal to your sense of pragmatism. The man you are going to experiment on, clearly he will not handle it. It's a waste of your mana to do so. And I suspect you have tried this exact same method multiple times. So why do something so pointless?
no subject
While William and the doctor debated with at each other, Wander and Wynona found a little cover for now, undoubtedly planning something should an appeal to logic fail.]
no subject
[He suspects this isn't going to work, because really, crazy ghost, but William's a dreamer.]
