ACCEPT THIS INTO YOUR HEART
[ Mostly because they're haunting them and moaning instead of resting peacefully. He's also not entirely sure what killed them. Shouldn't they be more worried about that instead of offending them? What if they stand next in line to be dead-like?
It's not like he has to wonder for much longer as they're all but screaming their troubles at him. He raises his arms in an effort to try and placate them somehow, taking a step back. ]
Easy there! Nobody is here to neglect you. Of course, we're not ignoring the dead. We're speaking with you, aren't we?
[ Not like they leave him much choice, and Subaki really would have preferred a more civil discussion. Even the creatures back in their world aren't this rambunctious and needy. ]
GROSS
[ She's ready to throw an apple at him again... will Subaki ever learn???? No ]
Please-- ignore him. He knows nothing of the world, is there any way we can help?
[ Sonia steps forward, even holding out her hand towards the wailing spirit. ] I would like to help.

[ Just because they have suffered is no reason to make others suffer with them. He's of the belief that vengeance solves very little and is only a fervent waste of time, but he'd also like to help. He just prefers to be asked more civilly, that's all.
He turns to one of the apparitions and makes a calming gesture with his arms as it starts to scream at him out of fury. Okay, he sees they were not pleased with his complaining, and now, his ears definitely ache. On top of that, the thing before him is quite disgusting to look at, and his food is not sitting all calm and well in the pit of his stomach. ]
There... there. No need to yell so much! I'm here to help as well. Don't mind the lady, either. She's just not as good at handling diplomatic relations as I am.
[ Its response is more garbled screaming that makes him wince and take a step back. Really now... did he say something wrong? He was only trying to make peace here. ]

Sssh. [ It's a soft whisper, and once she pauses Sonia lets her arms open, eyes fluttering closed in a sign of peace -- of vulnerability. It does make the tortured phantom pause, shifting closer to her as well. ]
Tell me everything.
[ Subaki may have insulted her and said that he was better at handling diplomatic relations, but she's the one offering herself to share its pain here. She isn't shutting it out, she's more willing to compromise on that. The images she sees and the words she hears from its flashbacks are horrific. There's limbs being cut off and screams of pain. She can almost feel the pain in her own limbs, yet she stands strong. When the images finish she opens up her hand, palm up, offering it to the ghost here. ]
It must have hurt a lot. Would you like to be set free?

Do they really just want sympathy? Surely, they'd much rather find rest in the afterlife, but he's not exactly sure how to give them the send-off they desire. ]
How exactly do you plan on setting them free? Clearly, if it were that easy, they would have gone to the afterlife already.
[ Instead of continuing to suffer here as they are. He wonders if they aren't cursed somehow... ]
Ask them who exactly is responsible and if they can point us to where they are?

There are a number of ways that can be done. [ They might be cursed honestly... but. ] First, we could deal with the problem they have, and in finishing that they may be soothed enough to move on.
...Or we could destroy them completely.
