Synthesis & You ♗ si vis pacem, para bellum
Who: Everyone! General mingle
When: 8/16, when everyone's been called back to Gammon
Where: Gammon, Southwest Cloister
What: With determination to succeed this time high, Heroes have organized a demonstration of armor/accessory synthesis and everyone has been encouraged to learn how to and consider arming themselves to the best of their abilities for the upcoming battle.
Rating: Doubtful to be anything past PG-13

The Southwest Cloister, crowning jewel of Gammon's Blackchurch district. The high archways that line the sun-warmed courtyard provide a welcoming shade that feels cool and smells old and of masonry and dew, reminiscent of things simple and old as stone. A feeling of monastic solitude.
A place one will find anything but solitude as today a large part of it, sectioned off from the usual bustle of tourism by helpful residents and caretakers eager to help the visiting Blanc Heroes prepare, is filling with the uniformed visitors. Or at least the Heroes will have been encouraged to wear their uniforms, or at least the badges bearing their ranks in order to facilitate finding appropriate partners, and to have brought everything they might have recovered from their various missions, no matter how slight or unimportant it might have seemed. Perhaps a Bishop could discern its true use after all.
Perhaps you were dragged here by one of the enthusiastic other Heroes spreading word or saw one of the flyers posted in the The Other Side Inn. Maybe you just followed the crowd. Either way, you're here now and being ushered to either observe as Rin and Saber prepare to demonstrate for the newcomers, perhaps joined by others about to attempt the process themselves. Have the badge of a Bishop? Oh! Might you have the skills of a Scholar then? Don't worry, you're going to be asked to help assist in analyzing some of the more questionable magical components...
A sign has been posted on one of the pillars as well. Anyone who has decided they want to craft an item is encouraged to write there about the rank partner they're seeking, and likewise any Hero wishing to volunteer their assistance with their specializations is encouraged to write them with their name there.
Even the newly arrived Pawns will have been encouraged to attend and learn more—or perhaps to barter with a fellow Hero who can't figure out what to do with that enchanted scale. And who knows, perhaps someone—a friend or good Samaritan—out of the goodness of their heart...

Vietnam ♖ Rook (Vacuum/Velocity)
Is this your first synthesis? Do you have your items ready? We only need to hold hands, but I still apologise for my forwardness.
Lola Pacini ♖ Rook (Velocity/Amplify)
She's a rook, so while she's not going to faint at doing things the way a Pawn or Knight would... she still needs to recharge from time to time. What she also has next to her sign, is many pieces of cloth, some gemstones, and other bits and baubles to help with the aesthetics of synthesis. Because honestly what is more important than how your item looks!? Lola seems very proud of her sign and is sitting next to it smiling like the ditzy little goof she is.
For the record she has three times as many pink, red, and purple items as she has everything else. She did also remember to bring her own items, in case you want to walk her through (or give her loot) to help her make items for herself.
(Lola's Loots: Enchanted Scales, Small Gems, Tailfeathers, Enchanted Gas Mask, Mossy Earth. Everything else is an aesthetic item. Plus some personal clothes/jewelry as a base if you help her make something.)
Noel Vermillion ♗ Bishop (Scholar/Drug Creation)
Still, that won't stop her from reaching out to those in need.]
E-Excuse me... Do you, um, need any help? I-If so, I can try...
no subject
[She was hoping that she didn't look too confused, but clearly she does.]
I don't... really have any of my stuff with me, but like... I'd enjoy having some advice. What kinds of things can people make? Anything?
no subject
[Noel waves her hand in a dismissive manner, laughing nervously. She's certain Meliora is just joking, but she denies it anyway, just in case.]
Um, I can't say I'm a specialist, but I've read a bit about synthesis and... it seems it's most commonly used to create things like protective armor and various accessories! Apparently, they can gain a variety of properties, depending on what materials are used...
[She makes a pause, figuring it might be a lot to take in all at once. In fact, she's surprised she's somehow managed to memorize all this information. Is that because she used that "Scan" spell to read it faster? That must be it...]
no subject
Okay, so magic stuff makes more magic gear, which can protect you. I follow you so far... keep talkin'.
This sounds like 'something that keeps me alive.' I'm interested.

He might accidentally look like a vendor, but these are his earned treasures. A bottle of ever shimmering water. The fearsome, curved fang of a venomous snake. What looks like a wrinkly lizard's tail, brown and dried up. And a beige lump of something that can only be described as used chewing gum. This dungeon treasure is looking like a bunch of odds and ends, Potemkin has been puzzling himself by thinking how they would fit together.]
Noel? I haven't heard about your specialization. I could use your guidance on how to make use of any of this.
[Potemkin extends a flat hand, as invitation to sit down with him.]
no subject
A-Ah, to be honest, I was only promoted last month... So, um, it's not like I'm a specialist yet...
[Self-advertising isn't her strong suit.]
But... if you'd like, I can try and see what I can find out about these!
[The girl glances at the assembled items. A few months ago she'd have assumed they couldn't possibly have any practical use, but her recent research in the library on both synthesis and alchemy has taught her to be more flexible in her thinking. Granted, she didn't quite understand everything she read, but it feels like she has a decent enough grasp on how it all works to try her hand at analyzing the properties of Potemkin's loot.]
May I...?
no subject
[Potemkin has confidence in Noel even if she doesn't. With that Potemkin drops the hideous, shriveled up once-piece of something into Noel's hand.]
Once, another Bishop, who had the ability to see all facts of an objects, determined that this had Salamander Tail had the element of fire within it. We didn't get any further than that before he went home.
[He doesn't mean to suggest Lupin actually went to a nice farm, even though what really happens to disappeared heroes is still unknown. That's simply the explanation he chooses to believe. To the argument's credit he has seen with his own eyes people leave and come back.]

Ed Finklestein ♞ Knight (Holy Knight/Stormy Knight)
[Now that he's around, though, he's put his specializations up on the board and he's looking around for people who want Synthesis help! The process is all super interesting to him, and he wants to do all he can to make cool stuff to help everyone.]
[He's going out of his ways to seek out bishops, so that he can find someone to help him identify stuff--but he's also equally likely to approach you with a friendly greeting.]
Hiya! How are you doing?
(Ed has wicht claws, an enchanted gas mask, and a Ringmaster's Staff to mess around with.)
no subject
Kaede's still doing her best to resemble a wall ornament when Ed finds her again.]
...okay, I guess?
no subject
Then... let's test some stuff out! I think it'd be a lot of fun. Plus we could make some useful items.

Indeed, the more I learn about this bishop lark the more I love it, so I decided to come out here and help today. An item crafted by the great demon king herself is sure to be of top quality, you know?
no subject
Bishops are the best of us at alchemy, demons in general have a noted ability to make amazing items... and the king herself's handiwork is going to be head and shoulders above a common demon, right?
It'd be the best item ever! A-and because of that, I-I'd like your help to make something. Er. A l-limiter. Kind of.

Tyrnen Monaghan ♕ Queen (Water/Wind)
Maybe they might even be helpful to someone else. It wasn't like he really needed them. He just sort of ended up with all of it by chance.
Well, since he was here he might as well pitch in and do what he could. Not that he thought a queen would be useful at all for this, but who knew? He wrote his name and abilities on the board like everyone else was doing. Water was usually a thing that was good for synthesis, right? It was hard to tell.]
At the very least... maybe I can find a use for this dragon heart....
[Tyrnen had brought with him a Dragon Heart, a Ringmaster Staff, Gentleman’s Gloves, and Mana-infused Wood for lack of anything else to bring.]
Gilbert Nightray ♗ Bishop (Scholar/Drug Creation)
[It's been a while since Gilbert saw the flyer for the first time; all this time, he's been reluctant to go...and yet, he's here, holding a board with his name and specialization on it and feeling like an idiot. It's not like he doesn't want to help people out, but holding hands...ugh, no. Not this. Anything but this.
He'll gladly analyze loot for anyone interested though, so there's that. Also, he has a few homemade potions and chocolate chip cookies on him as well.]
What do you want from me?
( Two )
[...However, if anyone would like to actually synthesize something, he won't say no. Just grumble for a while, because, you know, PHYSICAL CONTACT.]
Ugh, alright...I can make an exception, I suppose.
[He's removing his gloves really, really, really slowly. Look how eager he is.]
What do you have there?
(ooc: as for the homemade potions/cookies, feel free to come up with your own effects, unless you'd like me to think of something! ♥ i can be always reached at

She jabs him in the nose with a finger, standing on her toes to do so.]
A feather.
[And indeed! There is a feather in the hand that poked him, held almost like a writing quill. It's a gossamer-light thing, still rippling with orange iridescence like a flame. A soft golden glow seems to be emanating off of it, too.]
no subject
A feather?
[The question is rather unnecessary as he can see said feather clearly. It does look familiar, but it'll be better to make sure anyway. Touching it with the tip of his fingers is more than enough to figure out where she got it and, more importantly, its potential.]
You're lucky, I guess. It has great power, too. That's just the catalyst...what about the base item? What would you like it to be?
no subject
These burnt gauntlets.
[Now Kaede does move, unwrapping a pair of battered and worn looking gauntlets. She'd tried to use them, but...well, the way the leather palms were charred through explained how that went.]

rin tohsaka ♛ queen (dark/illusion) + saber ♚ king (blessing/curse)
she's mostly spouting out directions she's already heard from more experienced heroes: planning out the armor or accessory they want to create, collecting the necessary dungeon loot as well as a partner for mana exchange, placing the base item for the synthesis on yourself—]
So, as you see here, I'm wearing a jeweled choker. When I'm with Saber right next to our other ingredient, [waving her hand—] Lovespur flowers, we're all set to begin mana exchange and actually combine the choker with our Lovespur, to grant it a particular effect...
[she's been holding tightly to poor saber's shoulders throughout this, just kind of rattling her around... and, well, when it's time for mana exchange, rin pulls her close for a slow, affectionate kiss.
was this supposed to be a g-rated demonstration?!?!]
(( ooc: because of the lateness in getting this up, please ping/pp me on plurk if you want to do anything synthesis-wise, as far as creating new synthesized items! rin can probably only do synthesis ~1 more time, and that's if she can recover mana. ))
no subject
However, she's stiff like a mannequin. Rin is practically kissing a boulder with eyes that are shot open so wide. She understands why Rin is doing this. This is a lot faster method of mana transfer, but at the same time... She is not sure if this is appropriate for others to see!!
After that, she's just speechless. Her expression doesn't even change. She's there, standing still, as if petrified from Rin's deadly charm. ]
