Now That I See It Before Me
Who: Mikleo and you beautiful people!
When: 7/10 - 7/17
Where: The Shield and Caissa
What: Mikleo does his jobs. One of them goes better than the other.
Rating: None...probably....
7/10 ~ 7/14
A: CookingMama Mikleo
[It's weird to get used to not being able to use his seraphic artes to aid in his cooking, but he's been making do. He can't be a portable ice cream maker anymore. However, Mikleo can work with the technology available to him for heating things up. There are some pros to not being a fire seraph.
Currently, the water seraph can be seen making a beef stew and simultaneously making cups of what looks like an assortment of chocolate and vanilla pudding. In his experience, having something sweet does help raise a person's spirits even a little bit.
If your character approaches while Mikleo taste-tests his stew, he might just say:]
Do you mind giving me the salt real quick?
[If your character tries to steal one of those puddings, prepare to have your hand smacked by a spoon. He doesn't care who you are. Although, if he knows you, then you'll get a lighter smack than someone he doesn't.]
B: Bring Out Your Meds!
[When he's not cooking, he can be found in the medical tent. Mikleo switches between preparing medicine and administering it to patients. The seraph hasn't been taking many breaks in-between, but he does make sure it's long enough to feel somewhat rested.
Either talk to him while he's resting or make him rest now or longer. The guy needs it!]
7/15 ~ 7/17
C: I've Got You In My Sights
[Human technology is an intriguing thing. Mikleo's never had to handle a tranquilizer gun before, but aiming and firing it isn't so bad. The recoil is weird to get used to, though. Regardless, every griffon the water seraph aims for goes straight to dream land.
Although, if it looks like someone's getting to close after he fires, he'll yell:]
Get back!
[Or maybe someone is unfortunate enough to get in the way of his shot, either while he's aiming or while he's in the act of shooting. Whoops.]
D: Wildcard at any day!
[Wanna do something else during the week? Hit me up!]

So while she's taking a break, she moves over to see his lovely stews and sweets, the aroma was already so lovely. But oh? He needs something?]
Of course! Let's see... [Picking up the salt shaker, she holds it out to him.] These are all so delicious.
no subject
Mikleo takes it with clear gratitude on his face. He puts in a dash or two and stirs.]
Thank you. I just hope everyone here enjoys it.
[After all, good food is good for the heart.]
no subject
She watches carefully. The cooking prowess of everyone always interests her, considering her own background in cooking, being raised by chefs too (thanks China and France!) Especially when the food is from the heart, like Mikleo's generous offer here. He does it because he means it. That's the most delicious kind of meal.]
I think they will. They can see you working hard.
no subject
You have a point.
[Mikleo walks over to grab some bowls so that he can start ladling out servings.]
Hopefully, the pudding will help, too. It's helped cheer up some friends before, so perhaps the same can be said for everyone here.
no subject
[Now she's curious, wondering if there is any soul who would like to be cheered up right now. She walks around, just in case he needed more help.]
Should we go hand some out? There are those who are a little shy.
B
But Mikleo's been here longer than he has. And hasn't taken a break yet.]
Hey, you look a little tired. Why don't you sit down there and let me handle some of that for you for a minute?
[The stool he indicates isn't more than a few feet away.]
no subject
[Mikleo pauses in what he's doing to look over at Apollo. Then his eyes go to the stool nearby. He hesitates, but even he can tell that he's in need of a break. Still....]
Are you sure?
no subject
If you don't rest for a second now, you might end up in one of these beds.
[He approaches Mikleo, to take that gauze out of his hand so he can finish up the patient in front of him.]
no subject
[The water seraph relinquishes the gauze easily enough, at least. He moves to get out of Apollo's way and heads over to the stool. After sitting down, Mikleo watches with some interest.]
Have you had experience with first aid before?
[He sounds genuinely curious.]
no subject
[He wraps the gauze around the arm of a wounded refugee who's previous gauze had dirtied and needed to be changed.]
I figure I'm going to be using it a lot more while I'm here though...
C
Subaki winces in sympathy and quickly runs to Oniyuri, hoping the bird will survive the dosage meant for a griffon. Why is it this stupid? ]
You could stand to be a bit more careful with your aiming!
[ Those words are tossed over his shoulder to Mikleo as he cradles the bird before whispering quietly to it- ]
-and you... you need to actually stay put when I tell you. What's the matter with you?
[ He hopes no one can spot him chastising the bird publicly because it's a little embarrassing how much he's grown to care for it in spite of its many flaws. ]
no subject
I was careful! I can't control what a falcon does!
[The water seraph stands in front of Subaki and his carrier, looking up at the griffon with his hands on his hips. His intent is to intimidate it enough so that it doesn't try to go after Oniyuri or Subaki. Fortunately, the griffon is pretty sure it doesn't want to tangle with the two of them, so it wheels away with a screech. When he's sure it isn't coming back, Mikleo turns and kneels down to look at the carrier. His own carrier, a snowy owl, silently and gently uses the water seraph's shoulder as a perch.]
Is your falcon alright?
no subject
He's... alive at least. Perhaps, the sleep would do him some good in the end.
[ At least when it's sleeping, he's not defecating everywhere, which is a plus. It had already marked several people from above much to his own horror. He doesn't need that much humiliation in his life.
His eyes turn towards Mikleo, arms folding tightly over his chest. ]
Your aim was sloppy to begin with. How have you managed to hit a single griffon like that?
[ Frankly, he's surprised he didn't take out more people than griffons. ]
A
Thankfully, Wukong is rude. ]
Sure. One thing of salt, coming up!
[ His wide grin conceals his true goal, which would be evident as his tail quietly curls around one of the bowls of vanilla pudding... no one expects the tail, not even Wukong. ]
no subject
Thank you, and please don't take the pudding.
[He has a feeling he'll need to appease the sweet tooth either way, though.]
no subject
Fine, fine. You sure there's nothing extra I could just... you know, snack on? I've been trying to help out all day.
[ Trying to be amusing, perform little tricks, tell grandiose stories and that sort of thing did make a monkey hungry.
Darn you, Salting Cookleo. ]
B
He's been going from person to person, seeing who is willing to talk to him. It's not entirely altruistic; he's been able to glean information from people, information he can use to help him understand this place, but it does seem to be helping those he speaks with a little bit, too.
There are others doing a fine job on the medical side of things anyway, so he's been trying to stay out of the way, though he is nearby when Mikleo takes one of his infrequent breaks.]
Y'know, nobody is going to blame you if you rest up a little longer before you go back to helping.
no subject
Feels like there isn't an end to the work, though. Someone else may need the rest, too.
[The water seraph shakes his head. That seems to be the nature of the beast. There are never enough doctors or nurses.]
no subject
If there's always work to do, then it'll be there later when you get back to it. It's all about doing what you can, yeah?
[He gestures around, at the other people moving about in the area, doing the same type of work.] I'm not sayin' you're wrong. But being so noble and helpful that you end up too exhausted to keep up all the work you're doing for these people isn't going to be better for anyone in the end.
A
But then he hears that question, glancing over at Mikleo curiously. Salt? That was...] Here it is. [He picks it up and takes it over, offering it to the other boy and looking over all the prepared food curiously] Wow, you're good at this...
[Pudding is tempting, so very tempting, but he restrains himself. Gotta be polite and help out first, Akito!]
no subject
[He takes the salt gladly and stirs in a pinch of it.]
It comes with practice. I'm not as good as some of my friends back home. Then again...they've had far more time to practice in comparison.
[Although, nobody is as good as Dezel. His food is always perfect.]
no subject
[He watches, curious]
I've never really had a chance to learn to cook, so it's all pretty amazing to me. I can bake okay, but not cooking.
C
Because she, y'know.
Popped out from behind a tree without looking first. Luckily her reaction time was good enough for her to lean back, squeaking as the dart streaks past her, almost clipping her nose despite the movement.]
It's fine! [That's about sixteen octaves higher than her voice normally is.]
Everything is fine.
no subject
Are you alright?
[Mikleo's pretty sure she just shaved 20 years off his life. Thanks, Susan.]
no subject
Very fine.
Never been more fine. [May be lying.
Judging by how rigid she is.]
A
At the request, he wanders over with the salt, nosy even if he is trying to he helpful. ]
Sure. Here you go. Before you add more salt though, maybe you should try adding one of these herbs instead to boost the flavor without making it overly salted. You don't want to make people too thirsty after eating your food.
no subject
I've added some already, but putting in too many will imbalance the flavors or they might not harmonize well. I only plan on adding a pinch or two to enhance it.
[However, the water seraph holds off on adding it. He's interested in seeing if there's anymore advice to be given. Goodness knows Mikleo isn't immune to making mistakes, even if he's almost a century in age.]
no subject
He perks up, suddenly genuinely interested. ]
It smells good! I didn't realize you already seasoned it, sorry. I had to scold someone else for oversalting the food earlier. I don't think most of the volunteers know how to cook...
[ He smiles, peering over the edge of the pot. ]
Can I try some?
A, heaven help them
Did they finally hire some good cooks here? She was surprised to see the water seraph there, working hard. Lux watched him for a moment from a distance, in awe of what he was doing. That he could make two things at once...
Huh? ]
Salt?
[ Oh, um, he was talking to her right? Salt. Find the salt, she could handle that. She knew what salt looked like. Let's see...
There! Plucking up a small container, she handed it to him. It definitely wasn't salt. ]
Here you go.
