1) (Closed)

[The markets of Blanc were crowded and bustling on this evening, barely giving a second's glance to the blonde girl and blue-haired boy who made their way through the throngs of people. Aigis had noted the potions shop's location the last time she'd come down here, so it was simple to lead Minato there, but they largely walked in silence.

She was nervous. At least she thought she was nervous. This was a sensation she couldn't recall feeling before, a way that she felt antsy, like she had to move, like she couldn't stay still. Her computational cycles seemed to be working overtime, calculating potential outcomes no matter how likely.

Was this anxiety...?] Ah, it's just down this next street after the jewelry shop. Please stay close, Minato-san.

2) (Open)

[Aigis seems to be walking with a spring in her step. Or something in her step, at any rate. She's animated and lively, but ever so often she'll take a step and then suddenly wobble or even crumple to the floor with a little gasp. It's as if she's forgotten how her legs work, but how could that be possible?

Of course, the next time she stumbles, she stumbles into you.] Oh, I'm sorry! I-- I lost my balance, I'm terribly sorry about that! [Except when she fell against you, she didn't knock you over like she might have, were she still made out of heavy metal and ceramic armor. In fact, she feels kind of soft.

Kind of like a human?]

3) (Open)

[They say that Monday's meals in the cafeteria aren't great. In fact, they say they're downright awful. Today's meal is some sort of curry rice... you think. It's almost gelatinous. This definitely doesn't seem like curry, or rice.

That doesn't seem to be stopping Aigis, who is actually wolfing it down, somehow?] T-this... it tastes terrible! I really hate it! [She says surprisingly cheerfully, before resuming eating it.]

4) (Open)

[Oh, good old public baths. They're really underrated. The last time Aigis was in a place like this, she literally lay on the bottom of the hot spring, completely submerged. This time, though, she's actually wrapped in a towel from underarms to thighs, and is standing on the side of the bath, looking at the water almost anxiously.

She carefully balances herself on one leg, reaching out with her other foot (those who have seen her mechanical legs will note that the presence of feet itself is unusual) to dip her toe into the steaming water. Whatever she's expecting, though, this doesn't seem to be it.] --ah!

[It's enough to cause her to lose her balance. Splash.]

Hm? Who's Kaito? [Aigis tilts her head to the side.] I have recently consumed a potion, but I can't say it's made me dizzy. I'm just not used to having these legs and feet, that's all.

Oh... he's a friend of mine who makes potions that make you burp rainbows. [BUT THAT'S NOT THE IMPORTANT THING HERE, something she just said piqued his interest.]

...You don't normally have that kind of legs and feet? Why not? Do you normally need a wheelchair?

No, I move around under my own power. But they're normally... shaped differently? They're more efficient at holding my weight without putting undue stress on a joint in an attempt to mimic a human foot.

...why would you want to burp rainbows?

It was an unintended side effect. But it was really cool! [An aside, as he steers back to them feet.]

So... you don't have human feet. [And it would be mimicing.] And you aren't normally...

[OH MY GOSH.]

Are you some kind of magical creature normally? Like, like... [WHAT WOULD HAVE FEET THAT QUALIFY.]

Were you a satyr? Or a centaur? [He's so very excited at the idea.]

[Blink.

This is not where she expected this to go.] I'm sorry, I wasn't any of those. My appearance was very similar to what it is now. I was a robot.

Well, I am a robot, just not currently.

...ah... [Well. Okay then. That was a little far out there, he supposes. A robot makes much more--]

Wait, like. An actual robot? Who can think and feel and stuff? That's super high tech! I thought there were only a couple of those! [He's still totally excited, sorry Aigis.]

Ah... yes, an actual robot, and I do have the capacity for individual thought as well as emotional development. [She's trying not to be weirded out by it, because it is kind of odd for most people!] To my knowledge, I am the only one of my kind still active.

[THAT IS COOL!!]

Ahh... S-sorry about that. It's never fun being the only one left, y'know?

[She tries to give him a supportive smile, though he's not wrong, and the loneliness of it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming.] It's all right. I never knew any of the other units, so you don't have to worry about me missing them.

And I do have friends.

A-ahh... then that's fine! Friends are what matters in the end, because nobody should be alone. [He nods twice, as if saying 'that's that.']

Well, congratulations on being a human! I hope you enjoy yourself. There's a lot that's different.

Biological functions are very strange to feel.

...Squishy is a really good word for it.

And like, you wouldn't normally have had to breathe before, right? Oh, man. That means you've never had that moment where you're suddenly aware that you're consciously breathing where before you just did it without thinking of it yet, have you? That's like, the weirdest feeling.

The moment where...? [She says, slowly, as if she's not sure what he's talking about.

But now she's thinking about her breathing.] --oh dear! I can't stop thinking about that, now!

Right?! [He nods, not wanting to confess that he'd done it to himself, too. The power of the mind is a terrifying thing.]

One of my friends back home was the type who'd just go 'You are now aware you're breathing manually' to me out of nowhere, and no matter how ready for it I was it always worked. It's so weird, isn't it?!

[She actually seems mildly alarmed by this, judging by the way she reaches up and presses her hand to her breastbone.] H-how do I stop doing this?

Oh, you just have to stop thinking about it. After a while you'll be too caught up thinking about something else and then it'll just go back to automatic. It's not like your body's going to forget to breathe just 'cause you're not thinking about it anymore, after all. [He gives her a big ol' smile, though he does notice the bit of distress he's caused. Best to make sure he didn't hurt her feelings by accident.]

You okay?

But the more I-- I try to stop thinking about it, I keep thinking about it! [She can't just end those subroutines! Okay, now she's actually starting to come close to hyperventilation. Oops?]

[Oh geez. That's. That's never happened before.]

Uhh... Uhh... Oh! I know! What's six thousand four hundred and thirty seven divided by three thousand and fifteen, to the third decimal place?

[The math question gets her attention.] What's... [She falls silent as she tries to puzzle it out. Before, this would have been simple.] ...I don't know. Do you have a pencil and paper? I can try to work it out.

Um... ah.... this is much more difficult than it would usually be! [Aigis frowns, rubbing her chin. She can round, but he asked to three decimal places, so he doesn't want an approximation!

Her breathing is under control.]

[He's noticed.]

It's okay, you can stop. We've done what we needed to anyways. Good job.

What? [She blinks.] But I didn't do anything.

You stopped thinking about your breathing, so you stopped breathing manually.
