A. Who thought it was a good idea to give him a water gun I mean seriously

[that had been the very first thought Kaito had when he saw the job request on the Hall of Glory's bulletin board, but getting paid to basically spend a summer afternoon engaged in a city-wide water gun fight sounded even better in the wake of the investigations in Lasker. it was a good way to relax, unwind, and try to get his mind off of whatever it was Noir had waiting on the horizons for them. even the most vigilant and dedicated of heroes needed a break, after all]

[which is why this particular afternoon, Kaito darts across the rooftops of Caissa's buildings in search for other Dance of the Drops festival participants, intending to snipe them with water attacks from a safe distance away. if you happen to be out and about and participating in the lively water fights, well. . .]

[you might find yourself getting drenched by a stream of water from above. unless you're quick enough to use a bit of magic to turn Kaito's watery assault back onto him, that is. how rude!!]

B. Trust the bishop

[are you hanging out in the Hall of Glory courtyard today? because if so, you might find yourself being flagged down by a spiky-haired hero. he has a satchel slung over his shoulder, which chimes with the sounds of glass objects clinking together every time he moves]

Oi, oi! Got a second? I'm trying to test something and I need a couple of volunteers.

[and before you can ask for more details, he reaches into his bag and pulls out a small glass vial filled with a strangely colored liquid. it looks like water colored with food coloring, actually]

Could you drink this and tell me what flavor it is?

[well that sure is a sketchy request. do you trust him??]

((BISHOP SHENANIGANS TIME!1 Drinking the vials of liquid could cause one of the following four mild status effects: hiccuping bubbles, speaking only in rhyme, being turned into a cat, or SHOUJO VISION i.e. hallucinating shoujo bubbles, rose petals, sparkles, etc. each effect will only last for an ic thirty minutes since Kaito's potions are fairly weak! if you tag this prompt let me know what, if any, status effect you'd like your character have o/!))

[HA. Kaito lets out a snort as he plops a light blue potion into Ed's palm]

Darn right you owe me one. D'you know getting hit with even a mild lightning spell kinda hurts?

[it had felt like he had just stuck his finger in a light socket or something. not a pleasant experience at all. . . he's just glad that he hand't been permanently injured]

Er--sorry for that, by the way. [He scratches his cheek, popping open the top of the potion and drinking it.]

[the light blue liquid goes down easily, just like drinking water. except this water has a blue bubblegum taste to it. it's kind of delicious, actually!]

Eh. Don't mention it. Noir's sorta known for using underhanded tactics and magic, anyway. You can consider yourself forgiven.

[Kaito flashes Ed a grin as he watches his fellow hero drink the concoction without hesitation]

Sooooo? How's it taste?

[ Lux looks a bit surprised by the sudden proposition, and then suddenly brightly-colored vial shoved in her face whoa wait what's going on. The blond blinked a few times, looked down at the vial quizzically, then back up at the stranger. ]

Where did you get this? What is it?

[ It doesn't look bad, and holding it up to the light, she investigates the contents. Not that she could really tell anything. She wasn't that kind of nerd. ]

SHOUJO VISION TIME

[this is going to be the best first impression ever. Kaito gives the bright pink liquid a swirl in the vial and doesn't retract it, even when Lux questions its origins. she can examine it all she wants, but it just looks like colored water. it's even transparent like water would be]

I made it myself. It's supposed to be raspberry flavored.

[only one part of his alchemical specialization involved status effects, after all. the other part involved. . . well. cooking and experimenting with flavor!]

I'd taste it myself, but I kinda wanna see what other people's opinions are on it too. Y'know?

[ It seemed... normal? Putting a finger to her cheek, giving the concoction one last look, she uncorked it. ]

All right, let's see how you did, then.

[ And down it goes. She coughs a little. ]

It's sour!

[ Closing her eyes tightly, she holds the vial out to him, wiping her tears away. Opening her eyes, she blinked a few times. Why was everything suddenly more colorful? More... shimmery? She rubs her eyes again, looking at Kaito.

No, not really. Hinata gives both the vial and its owner a wary look.]

[Well, Hinata does tend to like orange-flavored things... but Kaito's confidence hasn't convinced him yet.]

Teyud watch a waterfight with a look of disbelief. Water was a precious commodity, to be hoarded whenever possible, not sprayed through the air for the amusement of children. This sort of display would be an extravagance only available to the very wealthiest members of society back home.

She reacted quickly at the "up here!", but almost fell over trying to dodge, as if her body was not moving quite how she wanted it to. As a result, she got drenched.

"Ah..."

This left her with the odd question: Should she be annoyed at getting shot like that, or should she thank her attacker for the gift of water?

It's truly a difficult question to answer, though judging by the shit-eating grin Kaito flashes his poor victim from above, she might want to lean more towards the former.

"Too slow, huh?" he taunts as he twirls the water gun around his finger, "But hey! The drenched look is a good look for ya."

Teyud muttered something under her breath about how Kaito's parents shouldn't have been allowed to reproduce. What she actually said was, "Thank for this gift of water. I dearly desire to reciprocate this benevolent act, but tragically I lack a firearm of my own."

[ Sakura is a little startled to be approached by a complete stranger—his enthusiasm makes her shrink away a bit (no offense intended or anything—she's just a shy flower), but the spirit is willing even if the flesh is weak. That is, she's way too nice to say no... even though she probably should, because who would drink mysterious potions foisted on her by someone she doesn't even know?

[on the bright side, as a people-reader Kaito picks up on Sakura's hesitancy fairly easily. she does seem to be pretty shy, and in an attempt to reassure her, he pulls up a friendly smile]

No, s'not a potion. Just some flavoring to add to them to make 'em more palatable, yeah? I've got. . . [with a thoughtful hum, he opens his satchel and points to four different colored vials of liquid: bright pink, light blue, orange and seafoam green]

Raspberry, bubblegum, orange and mint. In that order. Got any preferences?

Um... [ She peers at the vials, slightly more relaxed now as she gives them serious consideration. Eventually, she gestures towards the bright pink one, a shy smile on her face. (Of course she picks the pink one.) ]

[ Greetings first and foremost! Setsuna easily notices the Bishop badge on the younger Hero's uniform too, so that makes his eyes lighten. Kaito keeps growing stronger each time they meet and catch up... It's of course a wonderful thing. ]

Bishop? Congratulations... And I assume this is related to your Rank.

[ Setsuna only heard a few things about Bishops, but he's aware of their talent for alchemy. ]

[Kaito replies with a sharp, confident grin. truth was, he had dabbled a bit in learning alchemy even before being presented with his fancy new badge. his new rank giving his concoctions a boost in potency had been a pretty well-timed perk]

I'm testing out some new flavorings I wanna add to the potions I make. Y'know, to make 'em more palatable. Wanna help me test a few?

[Kaede initially just glanced over her shoulder when she was addressed, only stopping to indicate that she did in fact hear him. Her Carrier barked cheerfully, as he usually did, and the diclonius frowned as she also usually did.]

[She was immediately tempted to throw the drink in his face.

She might still do that, but she was at least going to make an attempt at listening.]

[wait, wait. . . wasn't this the woman who called him a speed bump back at Palamede? he squints at her, before he pulls up a grin and gestures again at the vial filled with orange liquid in his hand]

Could you drink this and tell me what flavor it is. I'm testing something, you see? Flavored potions.

[Kaede snorted, a scoffing sound, and continued to stare at the vial with extreme suspicion. Narrowed eyes and an almost-frown and all.]

People would drink the medicine all the time if it tasted nice.

[She half turns towards him, at least, but her hands stay resolutely at her sides.]

Trust me, if I was trying to pull a prank or a practical joke, I can guarantee you I'd be a lot more subtle about it.
