✿ THE HOUSE ✿
Adra's house is a cozy stone cottage on the outskirts of Caissa, close enough to the sea that one can hear the breaking waves throughout the day.
This afternoon, there's light, cool rain falling intermittently, tapping in a rhythm at the windows and roof. Fortunately, the kitchen is warm, bright, and welcoming. Its counters and tables are covered with freshly prepared foods of all kinds, and there are plenty of chairs for visitors who might like to sit and relax.
A door from the kitchen leads out into the garden, which is not quite yet fully landscaped, but which boasts a promising array of flowers (orchids, roses, lilies, tulips, etc) and herbs. Adra's also cultivating strawberries, tomatoes, lettuce, and so on; the strawberries and cherries in particular are ripe for picking. Adra has strung enchanted, floating fairy lights all over the garden; they cast a soft, ethereal glow over the paths and carefully tended patches of greenery. At the garden's center, there's a clear pond filled with red and pink lotus blossoms.
Back inside, a visitor might like to rest in the den. There's a roaring fire in the hearth, and sitting near it for a short while offers a boost to the weary spirit. Soft, plush chairs and couches fill this room, making it ideal for lounging. The tables are covered with books borrowed somewhat indiscreetly from the library; they deal largely with the magic and history of Enprise.
Adjacent to the den is Adra's study. In here are half-empty bookshelves and antique rolling desk covered with neat stacks of papers, boxes of quills, and numerous pots of ink, each one in different, brilliant colors. His journal is somewhere here, too ...
Finally, down the hall one will find a half bathroom and, across from that, the door to the second bedroom--belonging to one Gilgamesh. The master bedroom, belonging to Adrasteius, is at the end of the hall. There's a full bath in there, but this room is definitively locked.
✿ THE SPREAD ✿
As usual, Adra's gone over the top in his preparations. For drinks, there's a sweet, refreshing punch; delicately pink and decorated with sprigs of flowers. There are pitchers of sparkling ice water, jugs of wine and spiced mead, and plenty of glasses to share.
Though Adra does not eat meat himself, he prepares it ably; there's a honey-glazed, roasted turkey in the center of the table, right beside a carving board heavy with seasoned, hand-carved slices of fresh beef. Red potatoes, bright with paprika and salt and glistening with pats of melting butter, are arranged in wedges around the turkey. There are woven baskets of steaming rolls, flaky and soft; platters of carrots and broccoli and asparagus; enormous bowls of belly-warming soup filled with thick wheat noodles, sliced egg, and shredded cabbage. At one end of the table, there's a plate of burgers, along with small dishes to fix them--bacon, crispy onions, sauteed mushrooms, and all the necessary condiments. He has plates of savory pies, filled with beef or pork or chicken; steamed and fried dumplings stuffed with meat and spring vegetables, plump and perfectly shaped.
The desserts are similarly extravagant: he has a plate of meticulously crafted flower and fruit cakes; some look like ripe, blushing peaches, others, he shaped into red orchids, lotus blossoms, or golden roses. He's made a chocolate tart so dark that its smooth, sugar-dusted surface shimmers reflectively in the overhead light. Cupcakes of all kinds are scattered here and there, as well as an extravagant, multi-tiered confection dripping with fudge sauce, encrusted with sliced strawberries and vibrantly colorful, fondant flower petals. There are loaves of warm banana bread; fruit tarts glittery with rainbow sugar crystals; and, under glass, an assortment of flavorful macarons baked to look like something plucked right from the starry sky.
But the most important thing about Adra's lavish banquet is this: all of the food is enchanted, laced with magic meant to inspire feelings of comfort and security. Eating it may conjure up familiar, welcome sensations or memories--nothing sorrowful or painful, and only as specific as you'd like. It could be something as simple as the feeling of a fuzzy blanket on a cold day, or as complex as a particular soothing memory. In all cases, the intended effect is meant to inspire calm and ease.

[ He's here for most of the afternoon, running around, making sure everyone has what they like, making sure they're happy. He's still cooking, too, because he just does not know When to Stop. But if he's not cooking, then he's just walking around, asking people how they are; how they like what they're eating and drinking; if there's anything he can do for them. A gracious host, in other words--until someone says a fool thing or tries to touch him or makes an egregious mess on his nice countertop, that is.
Anyway, he's trying. ]

b. den;
[ A bit later on, Adra recognizes that maybe he should take a very short break. So he'll wander in by his hearth and crouch down beside it and ... continue working, as he stokes the fire. Which, like the food, is maybe more than a little bit enchanted. The poker glows an awfully vibrant red as he stokes the logs, as though he's channeling mana into it.
He doesn't bother with actually sitting down, especially since most free spaces are now at least somewhat occupied, and he doesn't want to press up against anyone, really. But he'll lean back on his haunches as he keeps poking the hearth and smile at whoever's near. ]
Don't tell anyone about the books. I'll return them soon, promise.
c. garden;
[ It's nearly dark now. Perhaps a few people have gone home. Perhaps a few of them are drunk and asleep on his couches. In any case, Adra's outside, kneeling in a patch of irises and orchids. He sings to the flowers quietly as the sun sets, his deep voice soft and soothing. ]

[ His head's aching, though, and the rest of him isn't terribly pleased, either. He coughs with a little more violence than he expected, and he finds blood smeared across his palm as he pulls his hand away. He mutters as he mashes his bloodied hand into the soil. ]
... ah. Overdid it, maybe.

[ Adra's everywhere at once, moving constantly between the kitchen, the den, etc. He'll also be checking on the corridors to ensure there's no breach of his locked room, or that no one's knocking over his ink ... ]

WILDCARDIN IT
Gilgamesh, however, gives the elf a wide berth throughout the day, into the long, lazy hours of the evening. Only when Adra has been left largely to his lonesome does Gilgamesh approach, and approach in an almost uncharacteristically quiet sort of way. The air seems a bit heavy between them, after the dungeon and the encounter in the hot springs, so in respect of this Gilgamesh minds his manners as well as his hands.
He makes clear and explicit eye contact before he tugs at Adra's sleeve, leaning down for a warm brush of faces. There is space to lean away, if Adra is uncomfortable.]
May I speak with you?
[They're in the hall, and he's glancing towards his room. This was apparently a conversation to be had in private.]

Besides, while living in the Hall was fine with her, it was nice to get out. So even though Aisha was exactly rude enough to show up at a complete stranger's housewarming party, she wasn't rude enough to not to bring a gift. [ Bolin's in the study, and things are Not Going As Planned. That's especially saying something considering that Bolin doesn't even remember what the plan had been. He's more than a little tipsy, and can remember if he had been looking for the bathroom or the kitchen or the garden. He'd been looking for something when the quiet room had siren called to him. Mostly, he'd just been examining the bookshelves, eyes wide and curious.
Everything had been going well until he'd bumped into the chair while stepping back. It gets him off balance enough to send both him and the chair tipping over; Bolin falling with a yelp, and stupidly throwing a hand toward the desk in an attempt to gain some balance.
Suffice to say, he failed: papers and ink spill, leaving a slightly bruised Bolin to stare miserably at the mess. ]
I need to clean this before Adra sees. [ Muttered to himself as he tries to gather some of the ink smeared papers, his own hand staining at the contact.
The guilt is real however, because Adra has enough work with everything else, and he doesn't need Bolin adding to it. ]

Shinoa is innocently curious at most things in the house- there's a garden!! A fire!! A kitchen- which isn't unlike one she remembers in her own apartment, but far more spacious. And filled with actual food. There's an unusual juvenile wonder in her eyes as she slips through the crowds, hovering wide-eyed by the tame fire and roaming through the few rooms, but for the most part she isn't too conspicuous.
Until she gets to the kitchens, that is. Now she wears the caution of someone in a minefield, burying her hands deep in the folds of a fluffy scarf as if afraid to touch anything. But oh, she stares. She's seen a grand total of zero people cook that well, probably.
At the sound of Adra's voice she'll glance up, surprised at the reminder that there are more things in life than the contents of his mixing bowl.]

B: The Gardens
[It's quiet here.
It's one of the first things she notices as she looks around, her hands to herself. The lights are pretty, and she wonders...if she could do something similar. Really, light is the element that comes the easiest to her. It should be the opposite, she thinks. And yet...she sighs, and slowly opens one palm.]
The light shines in the darkness.
[And little balls of light, no bigger then marbles, float out to hover over the water's surface.]
C: The den
[The fire is warm and lively, and certainly a place to sit and have conversation. But, as the day wears on, there is a small bundle curled up in a ball, right in one of those comfortable chairs. A book has tumbled to her feet, and her hands are at rest under her head. This may be the only time that Caren looks sweet and vulnerable.
But if someone lays a hand on that book, her eyes may just snap open. It was a trap all along.]

[Caren is kind of exploring, reading books, glancing into things, listening to conversations even if she's not joining in or hanging out in the garden. Or checking out the hallways. Or somehow accidentally asleep somewhere who knows why.]

[Gilgamesh has commandeered the kitchen!
Gilgamesh was also making a disaster of the kitchen. It's a good thing Adrasteius has busied himself elsewhere; he'd probably hate to see his precious sanctuary sullied in such a fashion. What began as a quest to bake a meat pie for a certain someone has ended in... well, a lot of smoke, quite a few burnt dishes, and a terrible smell wafting throughout the entire house.
But worry not, as Gilgamesh was also on the scene to correct his mistake! By trying to make another pie and ignoring the mess he's already made.]
Right, so this time... preheat the oven, prepare the crust, and...
[He seems pretty damn dedicated... then again, he was also pretty damn dedicated to the destruction of the world in his future, so that may not be such a good thing.]

[After his baking incident, Gilgamesh has hidden himself... err, casually escorted himself to a cozy spot in the garden. He picks a verdant patch beneath a string of fairy lights, leans back, and simply takes in the scenery. The stars are just starting to come out with the setting of the sun. It makes for a very romantic setting, and sure enough, Gilgamesh catches the nearest person he can to join him.]
Is it not beautiful?
[Gilgamesh pats the grass beside him and grins. Looking just like a character out of a shoujo manga, what a stud.]

[Gilgamesh, for being such a connoisseur in his previous life, digs into the feast with wild abandon. He stuffs his mouth with meat; drains his bowl of soup several times; tears into bread, scarfs down potatoes, and pretty much eats whatever someone sets in front of him. And he always wants more, and more, and more of it, making quite a scene as he bangs his plate and keeps demanding food for the King, food for the King! Perhaps you were "lucky" enough to sit beside him throughout this merriment.
Or maybe you caught him after, lounging full and sated on the couch with wine in hand, smiling to himself. The enchantment has hit him hard, and he's currently half a world away, lost in another place and time and speaking to someone who isn't there. For Gilgamesh, memories are very real, very vivid things, and it's easy to drown in one if you're not careful. And he isn't. He's so at ease he's left his guard entirely down, so you may hear him chanting sing-song under his breath:]
Brother, brother, why mustn't we chase? I can beat you up the mountain, I can, I can...
[Gilgamesh speaks to none other than Enkidu. And who will wake him from this dream?]

There's so many people here, it's difficult to pick her out of the crowd, until he stops looking in the crowd outright. He retreats to the kitchen instead, and sure enough, Saber's minding her own business there and chewing away on her snacks like a chipmunk with its cheeks stuffed full.
