showsnopiety: (And it feels)

[Open] It's getting hot in here

Who: Caren and anyone visiting the hot springs!
When: Post dungeon, could be right after fail/success, could be days after
Where: Hot Springs of course
What: There's a hot springs, so now there's a hot springs episode.
Rating: Could be a p-13 and beyond because some people are only wearing towels in this place.

[Win or fail, everyone needed a reason and a way to relax. With the fall of the towers, there was all sorts of good things to come from it. Some would say it was the birds; and others would say it was the hot springs.

The large, large pools of heated water. Sure, they could be used as a way to get all steamed up (or even steam punk) but after all that hard work, everyone deserves a break!

Bring your swimsuits, your towels, your drinks and snacks-who knows, you should be able to find them in the bazaars, or even on Airy. It's time to soak in the heat!]

[Potemkin had been trying to make his way to the deeper end of the pool, if one existed, when he feels something metallic around his foot. When he looks down, Potemkin's first impulse is to feel bad for almost stepping on Aigis. His second impulse is to feel bad for letting Aigis fall into the see around Graupera. From that context it's not surprising that Potemkin gets set into a fit of apologizing, though as soon as he opens his mouth he starts doubting if his words even reach someone underwater.]

I'm so sorry, Ms. Aigis!

[Not without being garbled, they don't. Fortunately, she's able to easily reconstruct the words. So when she sits up, breaking the surface, she's able to immediately respond:] It's all right, Potemkin-san! Don't worry, you didn't step on me!

If you had, I wouldn't have been damaged, even with your size. I am deceptively sturdy.

[Potemkin is a little shocked at how fast she transitions from being completely submerged to speaking back to him. This must be one of the advantages of not needing to breathe.]

I'm happy to hear that your safety was not in danger, but that still was careless of me.

[He gives up trying to find his perfect soaking spot and sits down next to her. Which ends up showing why he was trying to begin with: even with his butt hitting the bottom, he's barely waist-deep.]

How was it careless? You could not have expected that I would be there.

As most people require air, most people would not be able to completely immerse themselves like that.

[He's finally starting to relax. He puts his head back, at an backwards angle to his neck ]

But you were. It's the possibility of things that should be accounted for.

Even if you wouldn't have been hurt, I don't want to step on you.

Well, I would prefer to not be stepped on, that's true. But as I said, you needn't worry. It's entirely my responsibility.

...do you enjoy the hot springs? I imagine it would be difficult for you to, um, submerge yourself.

[Potemkin has to think a moment before answering that. The environment is very suited to this, and he sits with an angled stare to the waters like an overgrown kid in a bathtub.]

This is my first time at one. You are correct, but I have to say the atmosphere makes it worth it.

When you say the atmosphere, do you literally refer to the warmth of the steam caused by the hot water, or do you refer to the intangible feel of the setting?

[personal profile] burlyheart 2016-06-12 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
The second definition.

[Potemkin is not going to rib Aigis over a question like that. He can be almost as literal.]

This is unique as natural environments go.

[personal profile] seventhgen 2016-06-15 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
I see. [She nods, completely serious in that.]

Is it truly that unique? I have been to a similar spring back home in my world. There are many all throughout Japan, but that may be because Japan is a highly volcanic country, and they exist because of geothermal power...

On my Earth, it's not easy to visit Japan, as interesting of a place as it sounds. Even as an ambassador I've yet to check it off the list. [There's a bit of wistfulness, along with the light joking.]

What I meant more is that there's no other environment that's like or almost like a hot spring. Things are more valuable when they're without substitution.

Hm... yes, I can see what you mean by that. There does seem to be an inherent quality of 'relaxing' that I don't know of anywhere else.

[She pauses.] May I inquire as to why Japan is so difficult to visit?
