[Open] It's getting hot in here

Who: Caren and anyone visiting the hot springs!
When: Post dungeon, could be right after fail/success, could be days after
Where: Hot Springs of course
What: There's a hot springs, so now there's a hot springs episode.
Rating: Could be a p-13 and beyond because some people are only wearing towels in this place.

[Win or fail, everyone needed a reason and a way to relax. With the fall of the towers, there was all sorts of good things to come from it. Some would say it was the birds; and others would say it was the hot springs.

The large, large pools of heated water. Sure, they could be used as a way to get all steamed up (or even steam punk) but after all that hard work, everyone deserves a break!

Bring your swimsuits, your towels, your drinks and snacks-who knows, you should be able to find them in the bazaars, or even on Airy. It's time to soak in the heat!]

[ Whoa Sion, are you a ninja or something? Bolin starts a little when he hears laughing, peering over to his side with a curious frown, eyebrows going up when he sees an vaguely familiar figure. A fairly beautiful figure too, and Bolin should be used to seeing beautiful men at this point but it still strikes him sometimes.

He squints at the white hair for a second, trying to place where he knows the other man from before turning back to the water to answer the question. ]

It's pretty hot. But it's not like we can't go in.

[ He tentatively lowers a foot into the water to showcase his point. ]
sunderings: (puppy?)

[ Worse than a ninja, Sion Astal is a troll in the guise of something lovely, the long fall of his hair (and it is outrageous, to be sure, the locks of white just shy of the backs of his knees!) forming a shroud about him as he considers the other man, lofting a brow high as he speaks: ]

So a slow acclimation to the temperature is key. [ Shifting to sit upon the bank of rocks, he follows the other man's lead, slowly lowering his legs into the water with the lightest of sighs. ] You've my thanks, room 106.

[ His neighbor, that's how they are almost-acquainted, isn't that right? ]
sediments: (bolin and oops!)

oh my god i sent this tag to the wrong thread......

[personal profile] sediments 2016-05-23 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ They are neighbours. Bolin already knew the man was a fellow Hero, but there's something else about him that attracts Bolin's attention, as though he'd already spent time noticing the man before this.

Just because they're neighbours and Sion has a striking appearance? ]

Oh. [ His eyebrow shoot up. ] You're [ uhhh, what was his name again? ] Fran's boyfriend?

[ Or friend. But "Fran" had been really into their white-haired neighbour. ]
sunderings: (and the heart is hard to translate)

i saw nothing???

[ Endearing to him, how expressive his companion is. From the light of recognition in green eyes, to the instantaneous rise of his brows, there is little which is hidden about the man; there is nothing which is guarded— ]

… Fran.

[ —not even his (rather scandalous) suppositions.

Bemused, for a moment, the King's lambent eyes go wide before...! He is composed, again, in an instant, shaking his head with an airy laugh as he slips the rest of the way into the hot spring, the water rippling about him. ]

If by 'Fran' you refer to Miran Froaude— [ Who had also dwelled in room 106, once upon a time... ] —I believe that being romantically involved with one's own Lieutenant General would be fraternization of the very worst sort.

[ That is to say no, he is not Froaude's boyfriend, despite the way the man had taken to sticking to him like a second shadow. ]

Did he make such an impression upon you, for you to remember him still?

[ Mostly remember, that is. Fran. Ah, Sion is smiling broadly now. ]
sediments: (bolin and instant regret!)

Froaude!

[ That was it! Bolin's having a hard time with all of these fantastical names. Not to mention everyone has two names, even if they're not part of a noble lineage or distinguished family. How is he supposed to remember them all?

He accepts Sion's explanation rather easily, not having expected that the two were so closely linked due to being in the military together. He supposes that it makes sense why Miran was so obsessed with Sion then, if Sion was his superior—he probably cared deeply for his safety. It's probably similar to Kuvira and Bataar Jr. (Though those two actually are lovers.)

At the question, Bolin just shrugs and looks away, not wanting to speak poorly of Sion's comrade, but also not wanting to lie. ]

He was kind of creepy.
sunderings: (i could buy myself a reason)

Only 'kind of'? [ The King takes his companion's sentiment with both good humor and stride, for the other man tells only the truth as he perceives it, and what's more, he certainly is not wrong. Miran Froaude, whose favored company were beasts of shadow, is a thoroughly dreadful man, creepy in every connotation of the word. ] You'll not find it surprising, then, that the man had quite the popular nickname at court. He was so dubbed Gloomy by my Field Marshal, and the name stuck.

[ Like glue. Or perhaps the gelatinous ichor dropped by the Aello.

Amused, he hums: ]
Fear not, however, for I am only a fraction as frightening as the company which I once kept.

[ Frightening? Really? Harmless would, perhaps, be the better word as Sion raises a hand from the water, offering it to the other man with a gallant flourish of wrist. Whether the Hero takes it in greeting, uses it to help himself into the water (or both!), Sion will continue on: ]

My name is Sion. Sion Astal, and I am happy to meet your acquaintance after all this while.

[ Is this guy royalty or something? Bolin feels like he's supposed to be dazzled by this graceful character, even though their previous ranks and status hardly matter in this new place. (And he has met royalty, and hadn't been all that impressed.)

Still, Bolin takes Sion's hand to shake with wide, curious eyes. ]

I'm Bolin. [ He grins. ] This meeting is pretty late, isn't it? It's polite to get to know your neighbours.

[ Well, Bolin had only vaguely known his neighbours back when he'd lived with Mako. His brother had no interest in those sort of pleasantries, but Bolin had still greeted them cheerfully whenever he saw them. Sion seemed fairly nice though, and Bolin should take advantage of their proximity! ]

Oh— sorry about Miran's disappearance, I guess.
sunderings: (this dream won't last)

[personal profile] sunderings 2016-05-25 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It is no fault of your own, that he has gone. [ —he says with a slow shake of his head, though he wears a smile to thank Bolin for the thought. ] Though... I do miss him.

[ And what a revelation that is. Surprising, even to the King himself, that the words had left his lips at all (but that is, perhaps, something which can be attributed to his present bit of company: it's rather difficult, isn't it, to be closed off with someone so candid). He misses Froaude, in the way one might always long to have someone kindred to themselves. Once upon a time, the man had vowed to shoulder his darkness so that the King himself could shine ever-brighter, but Froaude...

What Froaude hadn't known at the time was that Sion had carried the darkness with him all along, that it had been no true burden to him.

That foolish, awful, beautifully deplorable man...

Ah, he's being distant, isn't he? What's more, he's held onto poor Bolin's hand for much, much too long...! What had started off as a simple handshake had turned into a handhold, and Sion's smile is apologetic as he withdraws. ]

In any case, we've quite the bit of time to make up for, haven't we? Due to our late introduction, I would say that... [ Here, he is (once again!) rather present in the moment, voice lilting in play: ] ...we are behind by precisely one great adventure, two curfew defying excursions, and...!

[ HMMM... ]

I should like to know it, your favorite food.

[ Bolin just watches Sion's internal monologue with a helpless smile. He's not really bothered by the extended hand holding, because it's obviously not anything intimate, just a result of Sion having lost himself to his thoughts.

When the other man returns to their current situation, Bolin smiles at him, not bothered, and a little blown away by everything that Sion is suggesting. It’s not like the earthbender is going to turn down a good adventure though, and he wasn’t even aware that they had a curfew but he doesn’t mind breaking it!

He hasn’t really spent any time enjoying the nightlife of Caissa, and maybe he should partake in a little night on the town. ]

Sounds fun!

[ His legs comfortable in the water, the young man gently lowers the rest of his body into the spring as he hums, wondering what his answer should be. ]

There’s a noodle shop back in my hometown. [ He eventually decides, feeling particularly nostalgic. ] They make the best bowls I’ve ever had.

[ Sounds fun, Bolin declares with ease, buoyant in a way which sees Sion's smile transformed into something equally light, carefree as he cants his head, golden eyes keen with interest as the other man speaks. ]

Your hometown. [ —he echoes in a way which begets a request for Bolin to elaborate, for Sion is curious to know of all realms beyond Enprise and his own. ] Is it a peaceful place, the city which you hail from?

[ Sion hopes it is so, though he knows a great deal of the Heroes so summoned forth to Blanc are acquainted with warfare, their homes at one time a battleground. Still, the King does nothing mask his intrigue as he lifts his hands, clasping them together, his chin rested neatly atop a slender pillar formed by the meeting of his forefingers. ]

And what is it that makes a noodle bowl the best?

[ No, Sion has never before sampled such a cuisine...! ]
sediments: (bolin and listen folks!)

Not really. [ Bolin's honest answer, as he sinks into further into the water, gaze moving up as he thinks. ] It's the biggest city in the world, so there's a lot of gangs and crime. Plus there are a lot of world leaders that live there so there's assassination attempts and attacks. It's also independent of all of the Four Nations, so sometimes there's issues about whether or not the territory actually belongs to the city or to the Earth King.

[ But wait, there's more. ]

Plus, a couple years back my friend Korra opened the portals that connect the Human World and the Spirit World, so a bunch of spirits moved into the city, and it was kind of hard to figure out how to coexist with them.

[ Then his attention shifts back to Sion, an easy smile on his face. ]

But they definitely have the best noodles! They're soft and fresh, and the soup is always the right kind tangy and spicy. The service is really great too!
