Training at Sunrise

Who: Tieria and YOU
When: May 9th, a day AFTER Intro Log
Where: Caissa, Coastal District
What: Tieria organized a mass training session, hideous ensues?
Rating: Violence, language, more violence

If you made your way to the location, you're already one step closer upon completing your training because this part of the beach is the furthest away from any settlement or port and also the hardest to find. You probably found it by following other heroes' trail, or you're those who stumbles around until you found it or you're actually one of those who went scouting before the actual day.

Either way, congratulation for making it this far ( puns completely intended ). Surrounding the rocky beach is an even rockier cliff. Be careful not to stumble or you will find yourself in need of healing. Thankfully, there are Kings ready to make a guinea pig out of your healing needs around. Your training will be held on the round rock-carved deck overlooking the beautiful sea or on the less rocky stretch of the beach, depending on your Trainer's choice. If you're lucky, your Trainer might even have you hike up that rocky cliff. You may even treat yourself to Caissa's fantastic sunset if you made it up there in time!

In any case, once you've arrived at sunrise ( or rather when the sun has risen sufficiently over the horizon because you're that bad with direction or has no sense of time ) and is done catching your breath, you will come to a notice pinned on the tall fences that tells you to tie a ribbon ( in the buckets, also tied to the fence ) corresponding to the training you wish to partake in on your arm.

Stamina ( GREEN ) ✽ Endurance ( ORANGE ) ✽ Weapons ( BLUE ) ✽ Magic ( PURPLE )

The notice will also instructs those who volunteers to be Trainers to tie a different set of ribbons, with black stripe over the four corresponding colors, on their arm to help differentiate them and the course(s) they're instructing. Of course, if you turn out to be a terrible Trainer, Tieria will rip that ribbon off you and very possibly shoves you into the sea.

There are no training weapon available because you're supposed to bring your own magic weapon.
If you forgot, you can either run back for it or pick a different course.

There's also a clause in very bold red letters that forbid killing. Break it and you will be broken in return.

Are you done tying those ribbons? Then what are you waiting? Get moving!

(( OOC: Please indicate in your top level if your character is a Trainer (which course are they instructing?) or Trainee.
eg.: Harry Potter | TRAINER - MAGIC
eg.: Severus Potter | TRAINEE - EVERYTHING PLEASE

Feel free to mingle around! Make friends, frenemies and even better, rivals! ))

Oh!

[She reacts with a tingle of excitement at the mention of a partnership.] See? I don't know what the commanders here are doing, not even trying to set us into units...

[The blade catches her attention. Blades do that a lot; they're sleeker than her scythe, they hit lighter but faster. And if you're a human (or a human-sized vampire sensitive to the material of the blade), the force difference between a scythe-swing and a sword-slash doesn't matter that much in the obliteration of your body parts.

Not to mention, a lot of sword-wielders are assholes. It's nice to find a melee fighter who isn't.

Ah, Allelujah doesn't normally take to the blade. That explains why he breaks the trend. Lowering her scythe, she peers at the mechanism of it.]
What do you normally use?

Perhaps our training hasn't advanced enough for that yet. At least, a completed unit seems like it should be able to function at its full potential to work.

[ They've become a lot stronger, but Allelujah would say it's still a very mixed bag of results. People like him, with no knowledge or affinity for magic, people who had no combat experience at all — with such varying degrees, Allelujah understands the logic, even if he doesn't really agree.

Not that the thought isn't abruptly cut short by her question, which makes his gaze flick up over the blade.
]

— ah. [ WELL ] I suppose... you can think of me as a pilot. So handheld weapons are different for me, all-together.

Wouldn't it be more efficient to have a unit train and work on team cohesion at the same time, though? If they're paired early and train together, they'd also have learned to fight as a team by the time they're proficient fighters. Like this, I've had to work out team dynamics for every assignment.

[The words are only thoughtful, without anger to them, but Shinoa's slight unhappiness is still discernible.

She brushes it away easily enough to focus on the matter at hand.]

Pilot? [This concept is foreign to her. She spends a few seconds attempting to conjure up a scenario for it- spaceship pilot? Oh, she doesn't know anything about the technologies they used in their space- and lets it pass after, content to let Allelujah's secrets lie for now.] Ah, okay.

The spar'll probably be useful for both of us, then! Let's continue talking after some practice.

[She gives her scythe a lazy swing for emphasis, smiling. Why talk so much when you could fight?]

[ Normally, he'd be inclined to agree with the efficiency of such training — after all, Allelujah is used to working seamlessly with Tieria and Setsuna regardless of where they are or what weaponry and power they have at their disposal. But it'd taken many, many years to achieve it. Here, there was no guarantee they'd be grouped together. It's hard, but learning every dynamic that they're able is a necessity.

Allelujah thinks that's true even now, facing down the practiced arc of that giant blade. Settling into stance, his shield put aside in favor of the blade that runs along the length of his arm, he nods to her.
]

There's only one way to find out, as we are. I don't mind.

[ He'd come here to fight, after all. ]

Attack me, and don't hold back.

Aw, that's starting me with a disadvantage.

[It's a wrly offhand comment, as she fiddles with the handling her scythe and watches Allelujah. Her eyes are intent, calmly giving the ring and her opponent a once-over, before finally she locks her grip down on her weapon and advances.

She's never been one for attacking with everything she's got, not right off the bat. Her approach is slower than a charge, more careful, as she goes for Allelujah's non-dominant side and tries for a horizontal swing.]

((since they're fighting and scythes are an unusual weapon, if you need any reference for the way Shinoa handles her scythe here's a gif sample!))

[ Allelujah knows, and simply flashes a smile in response, even as he's locking his body into stance. She'll have her chance to go on the defensive soon enough. There is something nearly liquid about the kinetics at work here when she attacks, movement that certainly belies a weapon of that size. He fast realizes he'll be on his toes in no time, if he's not careful as well.

As Shinoa comes about, he follows her timing, paces out a rhythm. Her first slash comes at him, and he turns to face it bodily, swinging his dagger against the curve of the scythe. The blades connect in a dash of sparks and part again. By comparison, his dagger's reach and form are dependent on how and when he moves the entirety of his arm. Shinoa will have the gift of grace and agility on her side there.

[Allelujah blade pushes back satisfyingly against her arm. But he's staying on the defensive? Tch.

She'd much rather be able to see what's coming at her than have it thrown into her way suddenly. Nevertheless, this difference between Allelujah and the average swordsman- which from her experience likes to push the offensive at any given opportunity- doesn't lessen the brunt of her disadvantages.

When she swings her blade back around into an attacking position there's a minute time lag, one absent from Allelujah's sleek weapon, and it's something Shinoa is very aware of. Face still calculative, she shifts to the side while she turns her blade around- oh, he doesn't seem to be making an follow-up move - and approaches from another angle again.

This time she shifts her grip closer to the scythe's blade, stepping in closer for two consecutive slashes. A back-forth.]
