Training at Sunrise

What: Tieria organized a mass training session, hideous ensues?

If you made your way to the location, you're already one step closer upon completing your training because this part of the beach is the furthest away from any settlement or port and also the hardest to find. You probably found it by following other heroes' trail, or you're those who stumbles around until you found it or you're actually one of those who went scouting before the actual day.

Either way, congratulation for making it this far ( puns completely intended ). Surrounding the rocky beach is an even rockier cliff. Be careful not to stumble or you will find yourself in need of healing. Thankfully, there are Kings ready to make a guinea pig out of your healing needs around. Your training will be held on the round rock-carved deck overlooking the beautiful sea or on the less rocky stretch of the beach, depending on your Trainer's choice. If you're lucky, your Trainer might even have you hike up that rocky cliff. You may even treat yourself to Caissa's fantastic sunset if you made it up there in time!

In any case, once you've arrived at sunrise ( or rather when the sun has risen sufficiently over the horizon because you're that bad with direction or has no sense of time ) and is done catching your breath, you will come to a notice pinned on the tall fences that tells you to tie a ribbon ( in the buckets, also tied to the fence ) corresponding to the training you wish to partake in on your arm.

Stamina ( GREEN ) ✽ Endurance ( ORANGE ) ✽ Weapons ( BLUE ) ✽ Magic ( PURPLE )

The notice will also instructs those who volunteers to be Trainers to tie a different set of ribbons, with black stripe over the four corresponding colors, on their arm to help differentiate them and the course(s) they're instructing. Of course, if you turn out to be a terrible Trainer, Tieria will rip that ribbon off you and very possibly shoves you into the sea.

There are no training weapon available because you're supposed to bring your own magic weapon.
If you forgot, you can either run back for it or pick a different course.

There's also a clause in very bold red letters that forbid killing. Break it and you will be broken in return.

Are you done tying those ribbons? Then what are you waiting? Get moving!

I noticed that you didn't seem fond of the concept of magic, when we were aboard the Airy. Is that still true?

[ick. that subject again. one of these days, she was going to have to accept it. who knew when that day would be?]

It is. I guess I'm getting "used" to it, but that doesn't' mean I have to like it.

I came from a place where it didn't exist at all. Having reservations is understandable. [ BUT TO HIS POINT... ] If you don't mind a brief casting on you, I promise it'll help on the trip up.

[she narrows her gaze at him, almost squinting, actually. the dubiousness is evident in her expression. but after a moment. . .]

[she was here to learn, after all. and in order to learn, she had to accept that other people were more knowledgeable than she was]

To his credit, he doesn't shrink back, as tempting as it is. But for the sake of doing what he came here to do!! He'll bear the scrutiny. With the eventual okay, he nods, extending his arms, fingers together, palms flat. ]

It'll only take a second, then.

[ His invocation of Latin makes his palms glow with a spacial distortion. Around Ema's ankles, a similar pattern appears, swirling in two arcs of low light, vaguely reminiscent of clouds along a jet stream. Sand breezes away from the space she stands in. ]

There. It's a spell that slightly alters the gravity in a space — namely, around you. Now, the climb shouldn't be any problem.

[it takes all of her willpower to stand still while the spacial distortion plays at her ankles. this was soooooo weird!! and when he's finished casting the spell, she lifts a foot and takes one step forward. a test to see exactly what changed]

You can. . . alter gravity in a space?

[it might be magic, but even her scientific mind is impressed by that concept]

Just like that? I don't even want to think about how many laws of physics that ability breaks.

[ Allelujah lowers his arms, smiling in an abashed kind of way. Sometimes it's still weird to him too, he's used to technology! And things grounded in reality! Mostly! Giant robots fueled by ~sun glitter and such aside. ]

Just like that. I've tried to think it through myself, believe me. I thought it was better to just accept, with how useful it's proven to be.

[ He takes a step back. Like this, some of fatigue weight should have lifted. ]

[plants her feet as firmly on the ground as she can, what with the gravity magic in effect. she puffs out her cheeks and folds her arms]

I guess it's actually pretty useful.

IT KIND OF IS, BUT HE IS QUITE FLUENT IN TSUNDERE. ]

You can put it to the test, if you'd like.

[ Allelujah indicates the hiking path that opens up onto the beach. It cuts pretty steeply up the cliffside, but it's not as horrid looking as any attempts to scale it vertically might be. ]

[she follows his gestures and considers the path for a moment, before she nods]

Okay! I'll take this challenge head-on and defeat it like a good forensic scientist defeats fingerprints!

[wait what that doesn't make any sense]

[ Allelujah stops to try and parse through that statement but ultimately he decides to be kind to himself and let it go. ]

Of course. [ and more importantly ] Forensic scientist, you said? That explains why magic hasn't really appealed to you.

Of course. Magic is totally illogical and doesn't comply with the laws of physics as I know them.

[as she speaks, she begins to walk]

I guess the laws of physics here are different than the laws back home, but still. . .

[ He notes her steps with some amusement. ]

Believe it or not, I understand. My home was entirely dependent on advancements in technology, and similar things. Magic was the stuff of stories.

[ Not that it stopped him from adapting but — useful as it is, it's still more weird than not, at times. ]
