Training at Sunrise

Who: Tieria and YOU
When: May 9th, a day AFTER Intro Log
Where: Caissa, Coastal District
What: Tieria organized a mass training session, hideous ensues?
Rating: Violence, language, more violence

If you made your way to the location, you're already one step closer upon completing your training because this part of the beach is the furthest away from any settlement or port and also the hardest to find. You probably found it by following other heroes' trail, or you're those who stumbles around until you found it or you're actually one of those who went scouting before the actual day.

Either way, congratulation for making it this far ( puns completely intended ). Surrounding the rocky beach is an even rockier cliff. Be careful not to stumble or you will find yourself in need of healing. Thankfully, there are Kings ready to make a guinea pig out of your healing needs around. Your training will be held on the round rock-carved deck overlooking the beautiful sea or on the less rocky stretch of the beach, depending on your Trainer's choice. If you're lucky, your Trainer might even have you hike up that rocky cliff. You may even treat yourself to Caissa's fantastic sunset if you made it up there in time!

In any case, once you've arrived at sunrise ( or rather when the sun has risen sufficiently over the horizon because you're that bad with direction or has no sense of time ) and is done catching your breath, you will come to a notice pinned on the tall fences that tells you to tie a ribbon ( in the buckets, also tied to the fence ) corresponding to the training you wish to partake in on your arm.

Stamina ( GREEN ) ✽ Endurance ( ORANGE ) ✽ Weapons ( BLUE ) ✽ Magic ( PURPLE )

The notice will also instructs those who volunteers to be Trainers to tie a different set of ribbons, with black stripe over the four corresponding colors, on their arm to help differentiate them and the course(s) they're instructing. Of course, if you turn out to be a terrible Trainer, Tieria will rip that ribbon off you and very possibly shoves you into the sea.

There are no training weapon available because you're supposed to bring your own magic weapon.
If you forgot, you can either run back for it or pick a different course.

There's also a clause in very bold red letters that forbid killing. Break it and you will be broken in return.

Are you done tying those ribbons? Then what are you waiting? Get moving!

(( OOC: Please indicate in your top level if your character is a Trainer (which course are they instructing?) or Trainee.
eg.: Harry Potter | TRAINER - MAGIC
eg.: Severus Potter | TRAINEE - EVERYTHING PLEASE

Feel free to mingle around! Make friends, frenemies and even better, rivals! ))

[Ema may not be a morning person, but by now she's vowed to do her best to better herself and diversify her skill set so she can be adequately prepared for the next battle with Noir. if this meant getting up before the sunrise and trekking all the way to the farthest corners of Caissa, then so be it]

[. . . but damn if she wasn't completely and utterly exhausted by the time she arrived]

[she doesn't hesitate to tie all four ribbons around her right upper arm, although part of her feels a bit sheepish to see the other people present sporting fewer colors. but she couldn't dwell on that-- for now, it didn't matter. she was here to get herself on their level, after all. and she wouldn't be able to do that if she kept thinking about her own lack of abilities]

[Ema can easily be found examining her mobile theodolite as she tries to catch her breath. she's mumbling something to herself, too]

How is paint supposed to be useful in a battle, anyway?

[Potemkin would be one of those people, the only trainee ribbon of his being the purple magic one, though he found it easier to wrap around his pinky instead of attempting to stretch it over his killer arms.]

All of the assigned weapons have magical properties. It might make itself known if you test it on something.

[Potemkin is not really one to talk, as both his weapons - the gauntlets on his hands and the attached firearms on them - are very self-explanatory.]

[the familiar voice gets Ema to perk up, and her gaze flickers over towards Potemkin in surprise. then she nods, lifting her theodolite and aiming it at a rock as she stares through the scope on the other end]

I've shot a few things with it so far. It just makes them glow. . . but not necessarily where the paint hit them, if you know what I mean. I'm not sure what the glowing signifies, you know?

Have you only been firing on inanimate objects? Some effects are those that would only come into play for living targets, like poison or magical conditions.

[Potemkin thinks. This was supposed to be preparation before the next skirmish, but it would be bad to figure this out in active combat.]

I've only shot living things, actually.

[maybe if she was more specific about which areas glowed, then she and Potemkin could brainstorm the answer together]

When we were clearing out those stone birds, for instance, the areas of their body not covered in stone glowed. And when we were trying to chase away the crows at the Hall of Glory, their necks and the spots over their hearts glowed.

[and now that she says it out loud, a hypothesis forms in her mind]

Vital areas, maybe?

A good lead. I think it's due time to test your hypothesis.

[And then Potemkin starts taking off his shirt. It is his responsibility as an instructor to help out, even as a human test subject.]

If I'm following your logic correctly, the spots that will glow are probably be the heart and neck.

[. . . ah! she nods firmly and hoists her theodolite up again. for science!! this sort of testing was probably harmless for humans, anyway]

Right. Just tell me when, and I'll shoot.

[hopefully her aim will be fairly decent]

On my mark. Three, two, one...

[With his shirt now off to save it from paint-related catastrophe, he stands in place. With his size it might be exactly like hitting the broad side of a barn.]

Fire!

[SNAP]

[the mana-infused ball of paint shoots from the scope of the theodolite. it strikes Potemkin in the chest, a blow that feels sort of like being hit with . . well. a paintball]

[as predicted, the paint doesn't glow at the point of impact. instead, it glows over her fellow hero's heart and neck]

. . . it worked!
