Training at Sunrise

Who: Tieria and YOU
When: May 9th, a day AFTER Intro Log
Where: Caissa, Coastal District
What: Tieria organized a mass training session, hideous ensues?
Rating: Violence, language, more violence

If you made your way to the location, you're already one step closer upon completing your training because this part of the beach is the furthest away from any settlement or port and also the hardest to find. You probably found it by following other heroes' trail, or you're those who stumbles around until you found it or you're actually one of those who went scouting before the actual day.

Either way, congratulation for making it this far ( puns completely intended ). Surrounding the rocky beach is an even rockier cliff. Be careful not to stumble or you will find yourself in need of healing. Thankfully, there are Kings ready to make a guinea pig out of your healing needs around. Your training will be held on the round rock-carved deck overlooking the beautiful sea or on the less rocky stretch of the beach, depending on your Trainer's choice. If you're lucky, your Trainer might even have you hike up that rocky cliff. You may even treat yourself to Caissa's fantastic sunset if you made it up there in time!

In any case, once you've arrived at sunrise ( or rather when the sun has risen sufficiently over the horizon because you're that bad with direction or has no sense of time ) and is done catching your breath, you will come to a notice pinned on the tall fences that tells you to tie a ribbon ( in the buckets, also tied to the fence ) corresponding to the training you wish to partake in on your arm.

Stamina ( GREEN ) ✽ Endurance ( ORANGE ) ✽ Weapons ( BLUE ) ✽ Magic ( PURPLE )

The notice will also instructs those who volunteers to be Trainers to tie a different set of ribbons, with black stripe over the four corresponding colors, on their arm to help differentiate them and the course(s) they're instructing. Of course, if you turn out to be a terrible Trainer, Tieria will rip that ribbon off you and very possibly shoves you into the sea.

There are no training weapon available because you're supposed to bring your own magic weapon.
If you forgot, you can either run back for it or pick a different course.

There's also a clause in very bold red letters that forbid killing. Break it and you will be broken in return.

Are you done tying those ribbons? Then what are you waiting? Get moving!

(( OOC: Please indicate in your top level if your character is a Trainer (which course are they instructing?) or Trainee.
eg.: Harry Potter | TRAINER - MAGIC
eg.: Severus Potter | TRAINEE - EVERYTHING PLEASE

Feel free to mingle around! Make friends, frenemies and even better, rivals! ))

[ Ah... Minato sure has a track record with all kinds of fish, merfolk included. Maybe Setsuna can treat him out for fresh sushi later on. But yes, these can be thought over later on. For now, they have training to deal with. They may be veteran Ranked Heroes, but they're still rather young in terms of experience. Setsuna will also benefit from this, as the throwing exercises will surely help him — especially as a melee specialist.

Minato's confirmation is met with a wordless nod, then Setsuna waits for his food buddy to position himself on the platform. The ocean is constantly waving because of the strong winds, resulting in all nine platforms to constantly rock. Staying balanced against nature's elements would also come into play as the session would begin.

Now, the youngest Meister changes into a pitcher's stance. Whenever Minato would start running, he will immediately respond with a barrage of thrown balloons as he will consider that the "go" signal. ]

[ Yes, Setsuna definitely should. Not that Minato has actually earned anything, but he's always down for a food adventure no matter the circumstances.

Minato bends at the knee, his weight shifting over his center of gravity as he watches his trainer. He sees the balloon at the ready, and with that, springs into action. And just in time! As the first balloon lands right where he'd been standing. Oh boy.

He's light on his feet and surprisingly alert for someone normally so sleepy. Maybe joining that Sports Club in school had been a good idea? Or maybe the hours spent climbing a giant tower helped? Either way, he makes it to the second platform without much trouble, although as he runs to the other side, it begins to dip.

Splat.

Is that...pudding? ]

[ It is indeed pudding... But as someone who values resources, Setsuna doesn't use good pudding. No, it's expired pudding. If that doesn't motivate Minato to run faster, he will be surprised. Who wants disgusting pudding all over them, right?

Especially once they start piling up all over him... Gross.

But so far so good. Minato's doing well at evading the pudding balloons, and he only needs to keep up with that pace. Or not... Actually, he needs to be flexible as well and adjust to the situation changes as it goes on. For example, a fat fish underneath one of the platforms decided that expired pudding actually tastes good.

Said fat fish is now contributing to the tremors, probably hopeful that more pudding falls below for it to consume. ]

[ He does have to take a moment to inspect the pudding, that shouldn't come as a surprise at all. But when he tastes it, yes, he's both motivated and disappointed. Who could let pudding go so long that it expires in the first place...

Yet just as he makes a jump to the next platform, his new fishy friend makes an appearance. WELP! The platform dips heavily to one side as its fat face flops onto the wood and Minato nearly tumbles forward--

--except at the last minute, he summons a short whip of dark energy, which he shoots backward against the platform, sending him into a mid-air spin that, thankfully, lands him on the next platform.

WHEW.

He feels a little bad for the fish, though. You can do better than that buddy...but he's got to keep running! ]

[ It is a mystery... A tragic mystery that Setsuna himself doesn't know the answer to. He asked the Hall staff for garbage to clear out, and this is one of what he received. Perhaps they were trying to save it for a special occasion but forgot?

But maybe it's not much of a tragedy when that fat fish is enjoying it as it is. Once again, Minato's list of wet and scaly friends increase... Is this because he's the protagonist of "Baywatch: Capablanca"!? He's certainly living up to the role, at least.

Setsuna is impressed to witness Minato's quick recovery against the fish. He doesn't allow the humorous sight to affect him for long though; soon, he continues throwing more balloons — doing what he can to take advantage of the surrounding winds to carry them faster. ]

[ He's not ready to become Aquaman, to be honest. And why do his aquatic friends always have to come with a potential side of drowning? He doesn't like that part. Not at all.

But he keeps going onward. It seems like the fat fish has some fat fishy friends too, because a few more pop up from the depths. He actually ends up using one of them to spring board onto another platform. He's doing well!

It's definitely tiring. At least when they were running around Tartarus there was a lot of just walking and exploring. He's determined to keep going, though he pauses just a little too long on the second to the last before he has to turn around and--splat.

Right on the back of his head.

...Gross.

There's a pause as he just kind of stands there. And reaches behind him to wipe some of the goo off the back of his head. When he tastes it--

Ugh. Whatever it was, it was good last year. ]

[ MINATO, DON'T EAT IT...

Setsuna almost winces to see his food buddy taste the spoiled pudding. But neither of them can get distracted in the middle of training... They have to keep going in order to improve their mana flows apart from the previously mentioned stamina and endurance. If he stops, the effectiveness of the training will lower because he allowed a brief rest.

So to prevent the building progress to stop, he throws another balloon to aim at Minato's leg to push him forward again. His new fishy friends seem to be cheering too, as they didn't seem to mind to have been used as a stepping stone.

Or maybe because they're expecting to be rewarded later on for it. ]

[ Maybe Minato expects Setsuna to take pity on him because the balloon makes direct contact with his leg. Minato stumbles and falls forward--only to be caught by one of the fish. That seriously happened.

This is going to be some disney princess shit going on right here.

--or maybe it just wants to eat the pudding on him? Either way, it's enough to keep Minato from going down entirely and he's able to use the fish to hop onto the next platform and start his run back towards the shore. ]
quaria: my scans. (if that's the case...)

[ Setsuna knows that Minato has charisma. It's not particularly hard to see. But what he didn't expect is that how it extends to overwhelming levels. Or maybe that's a side effect of the Queen Rank...? Intentional or not, it's quite useful in this situation.

And whether it's because of his Rank or the pudding all over him, Minato still made it through. But how long will that luck last? A new flock of balloons are after the boy again, continuing the prevention against recovery.

It's a little distracting to have the cheering fish chase Minato all over the platforms. They're circling around with him, mouths open as they constantly attempt to eat pudding particles that manage to land towards them.

Hey, now... Is this really a training session? ]
burnmydread: (to find some piece of mind)

[personal profile] burnmydread 2016-06-02 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ Is this a side effect of his rank or just his insurmountable swag? It's hard to tell. But Minato wasn't really looking for an audience in sea life. First the mermaids, and now this. Why does this keep happening?

Or are they really just hungry?

Well, this is going to be a problem either way, because they're starting to get less like little platforms he can use and more like giant fish who keep trying to knock him off them, accidentally or otherwise.

This time, Minato stands his ground and let's a few of the balloons hit him. Gross.. He's knocked over on the platform, but takes the opportunity to just...wipe a bunch of the excess off and try to feed it to the fish.

Before going back to running.

...Yet, they're in pursuit.

Seriously, they're following him en mass like a siege of hungry koi on a growing tidal wave. That's getting closer to the shore, and subsequently, to Setsuna. ]
