Training at Sunrise
Who: Tieria and YOU
When: May 9th, a day AFTER Intro Log
Where: Caissa, Coastal District
What: Tieria organized a mass training session, hideous ensues?
Rating: Violence, language, more violence

If you made your way to the location, you're already one step closer upon completing your training because this part of the beach is the furthest away from any settlement or port and also the hardest to find. You probably found it by following other heroes' trail, or you're those who stumbles around until you found it or you're actually one of those who went scouting before the actual day.
Either way, congratulation for making it this far ( puns completely intended ). Surrounding the rocky beach is an even rockier cliff. Be careful not to stumble or you will find yourself in need of healing. Thankfully, there are Kings ready to make a guinea pig out of your healing needs around. Your training will be held on the round rock-carved deck overlooking the beautiful sea or on the less rocky stretch of the beach, depending on your Trainer's choice. If you're lucky, your Trainer might even have you hike up that rocky cliff. You may even treat yourself to Caissa's fantastic sunset if you made it up there in time!
In any case, once you've arrived at sunrise ( or rather when the sun has risen sufficiently over the horizon because you're that bad with direction or has no sense of time ) and is done catching your breath, you will come to a notice pinned on the tall fences that tells you to tie a ribbon ( in the buckets, also tied to the fence ) corresponding to the training you wish to partake in on your arm.
Stamina ( GREEN ) ✽ Endurance ( ORANGE ) ✽ Weapons ( BLUE ) ✽ Magic ( PURPLE )
The notice will also instructs those who volunteers to be Trainers to tie a different set of ribbons, with black stripe over the four corresponding colors, on their arm to help differentiate them and the course(s) they're instructing. Of course, if you turn out to be a terrible Trainer, Tieria will rip that ribbon off you and very possibly shoves you into the sea.
There are no training weapon available because you're supposed to bring your own magic weapon.
If you forgot, you can either run back for it or pick a different course.
There's also a clause in very bold red letters that forbid killing. Break it and you will be broken in return.
Are you done tying those ribbons? Then what are you waiting? Get moving!
(( OOC: Please indicate in your top level if your character is a Trainer (which course are they instructing?) or Trainee.
eg.: Harry Potter | TRAINER - MAGIC
eg.: Severus Potter | TRAINEE - EVERYTHING PLEASE
Feel free to mingle around! Make friends, frenemies and even better, rivals! ))

I
[It's said with a little affection, but mostly it's dead pan as ever as she tilts her head, glancing him over. He seems to be doing well for himself, funny enough. Must have been the air agreeing with him or something. Or the chance to talk down to others is making him feel perky.]
I can, with effort, produce light, even attach it to objects, but that is as far as I've gotten. I seem to have a mental block in that aspect. Perhaps I would do better if I had an able instructor in both healing and offensive magic?
no subject
Caren is not his favorite person in the world, but he's not the kind to turn away anyone asking for help. She seems to be relatively sincere, in any case. ]
I would be -- [ sighing ] happy -- to instruct you, Caren. Tell me what you mean by a 'mental block'. Do you find yourself frustrated? Confused?
no subject
It keeps him on his toes anyway.]
You are too kind.
[She tips her head. Now, back to lessons.]
Perhaps confusion is the way to put it? I've been told I can switch to element to element but when I do try...nothing comes from it.
The mana is there. I can feel it, acutely. One of the first things I learned was infusing my mana into my weapon, and I'm getting better at that all the time. And yet with spells...
nothing.
no subject
[ He taps his fingers against the hilt of his rapier, considering. ]
What school do you start with? What are you trying to switch to?
no subject
My body was not made to conduct magic, only for demon detection. And while I could suppress the more violent reactions, it was for a most part a passive ability.
[A sigh, and:]
I have been attempting to try from holy to other elements. Earth, air, fire mostly. But I've attempted healing as an experiment.
no subject
Yes, that is what I meant by school--school of magic. Type. Et cetera.
[ Hrmnh. ]
Using holy magic for healing should be simple enough. Are you running into trouble even with that?
no subject
[She sighs, and spreads her hands.]
But yes? You may call me a dud if you wish, or a rank amateur.
no subject
A good teacher does not berate their students.
[ He pulls up his sleeve -- there are bruises on his arm, starkly purple over the bright, red glow of his tattoos. ]
Let's try to figure this out. Heal these bruises, if you can. Let me see what you do.
no subject
She makes a gesture with her wrists. Nothing happens, and she scowls, taking in a deep breath. A passage comes to mind, and she speaks it, slowly, as if it will help.]
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
[It flows, this time but...not enough for the healing to be effective? It's spread out too much. It's almost like trying to spray with a hose but ending up with a weird mist.]
no subject
Caren. At its heart, magic is weaponized desire. What do you want, when you see an injury? How do you imagine treating it?
no subject
[She sighs, and her eyes open. That's a very good question. Unless she truly needs it, she doesn't care about being well.]
How another would treat it completely mundane. Check for signs of infection, clean it, see if it needs to be sewn together or brought together with a staple or covered lightly.
...it doesn't fix it per se, but it eases the discomfort and speeds the body along. Unless there's other injuries.
That's what I'm used to.
no subject
[ He traces the outline of one particular bruise; it's relatively fresh, dark purple and livid. ]
But you have to go beyond that. You told me before that you once felt others' pain, back in your own world. Imagine the ability to do more. Imagine inverting that pain, reversing it. Suffering turned to health. Skin mending itself. Bones reforming, tissue regenerating.
And--most important of all--want it, Caren.
[ He taps his arm. ]
Try again.
no subject
But there's still a feeling of frustration. Just...]
It's almost easier imagining taking it onto myself.
[The words are murmured; not meant to be rebellion but could be taken as such. But...skin. What makes a bruise a bruise? Her mind ticks back to how the body works. Her eyes close again to make it easier to concentrate. The verse is murmured under her breath, and her fingers flicker, where the bruise stands out, vivid and dark.
And this time, it seems to work. Caren inhales sharply, and the bruise fades out on Adra's skin. Looks like she got over that mental hurtle after all.
...sort of.]
no subject
He feels a stronger surge of magic when she recasts the spell, and he sighs in obvious relief as the bruise mends itself. That one had been particularly tender. ]
Well done. But.
[ He paces a little, thinking. ]
If thinking about it that way -- thinking about it as pain you take, rather than pain you simply fix -- helps you ... you should try it.
no subject
That's what I'm supposed to do.
[Take the pain, not simply fix it. And again, Caren tries it. Her eyes close, and there's a sweeping gesture of her hands, encompassing what bruises that are still vivid on Adra's skin. This time, her voice comes confident, and the verse entirely different.]
Pain is a kindly, hopeful thing, a certain proof of life.
[This time, it's effective. Caren has to suck in a hard breath, feeling the pain that Adra had, afresh, before she goes limp. But...at least his pain and bruises should be gone.]
no subject
Kindly and hopeful? Is that what you really believe?
no subject
[She steadies under his hands, her eyes closed. She just needs a moment, she's certain. The pain was intense-just as if she had been hit herself-but she can manage.]
But if I couldn't feel pain, I would feel nothing.
no subject
Well, that's dark. No fuzzy blankets for you, huh? Spring breezes right out?
no subject
[She shrugs.]
no subject
no subject
no subject
Are you telling me that you typically don't feel anything?
no subject
Is there something wrong?
no subject
I'm just--trying to imagine what that must be like.
[ Because Adra, of course, feels literally everything all the time, and often with near overwhelming intensity. ]
Quiet, I suppose.
no subject
[She offers a little shrug, her hands clasped in front of her. She's not surprised at his reaction; it's almost typical.]
And it is awkward when you're expected to act a certain way. React to something with pleasure. Anger. Sadness. Don't even get me started on love or affection.
At least with pain or suffering, I can feel something.
