Training at Sunrise

Who: Tieria and YOU
When: May 9th, a day AFTER Intro Log
Where: Caissa, Coastal District
What: Tieria organized a mass training session, hideous ensues?
Rating: Violence, language, more violence

If you made your way to the location, you're already one step closer upon completing your training because this part of the beach is the furthest away from any settlement or port and also the hardest to find. You probably found it by following other heroes' trail, or you're those who stumbles around until you found it or you're actually one of those who went scouting before the actual day.

Either way, congratulation for making it this far ( puns completely intended ). Surrounding the rocky beach is an even rockier cliff. Be careful not to stumble or you will find yourself in need of healing. Thankfully, there are Kings ready to make a guinea pig out of your healing needs around. Your training will be held on the round rock-carved deck overlooking the beautiful sea or on the less rocky stretch of the beach, depending on your Trainer's choice. If you're lucky, your Trainer might even have you hike up that rocky cliff. You may even treat yourself to Caissa's fantastic sunset if you made it up there in time!

In any case, once you've arrived at sunrise ( or rather when the sun has risen sufficiently over the horizon because you're that bad with direction or has no sense of time ) and is done catching your breath, you will come to a notice pinned on the tall fences that tells you to tie a ribbon ( in the buckets, also tied to the fence ) corresponding to the training you wish to partake in on your arm.

Stamina ( GREEN ) ✽ Endurance ( ORANGE ) ✽ Weapons ( BLUE ) ✽ Magic ( PURPLE )

The notice will also instructs those who volunteers to be Trainers to tie a different set of ribbons, with black stripe over the four corresponding colors, on their arm to help differentiate them and the course(s) they're instructing. Of course, if you turn out to be a terrible Trainer, Tieria will rip that ribbon off you and very possibly shoves you into the sea.

There are no training weapon available because you're supposed to bring your own magic weapon.
If you forgot, you can either run back for it or pick a different course.

There's also a clause in very bold red letters that forbid killing. Break it and you will be broken in return.

Are you done tying those ribbons? Then what are you waiting? Get moving!

(( OOC: Please indicate in your top level if your character is a Trainer (which course are they instructing?) or Trainee.
eg.: Harry Potter | TRAINER - MAGIC
eg.: Severus Potter | TRAINEE - EVERYTHING PLEASE

Feel free to mingle around! Make friends, frenemies and even better, rivals! ))

[ ANYTHING. Setsuna indicates this with his determined gaze, more than willing to take what ever is directed at him. If he's going to help with training effectively, then he should be prepared to push through limits. He wouldn't want his partner to hold back for his sake, as the experience will also aid him with future situations.

There's always something new to learn everyday, after all. Even though he's acting as the trainer at the moment, it doesn't mean that he can't learn new tricks either. The challenge is more than welcome. He hasn't caught on to his partner's sneaky gestures yet, but he has an impressive reflex so the surprise attack may or may not turn out successful. They'll find out soon. ]

Let us go.

Way ahead of you!

[ And with a ferocious shout, Wukong unveils his secret, secondary weapon, and HURLS it with all of his might without a second thought. The docile yellow fruit whistles past Setsuna's ear, an oddly heavy and dangerous whoosh as it flies right by him. An incredible display of... something, as Wukong looks a little displeased with himself.

If anything, it looks like he missed a stationary target. What a shame. ]

... oops.

[ Except!--- it's very far from a mistake as the Bananarang is hurtling back toward its owner, and Setsuna is definitely in its path. The disappointed look is fading slowly, being replaced with a grin as he feels the mana-charged weapon returning. ]

[ Despite the breakneck display, Setsuna remains motionless. He doesn't flinch or show hesitation in his eyes, even as a few edges of his hair strands are ripped by the other Hero's weapon. He tries to read the expression before him, regarding it as a bluff — and so, he continues to stay still.

In concentration, Setsuna closes his eyes to sense the surrounding mana instead of relying on his sight. The weapon is fast, and he can't tell what will come up next through visual cues. He continues to concentrate, until the opportune moment arrives. It's then that he side-steps on time to dodge it at the right moment; shoving himself aside quickly avoid a painful impact.

From his motion, it's easy to tell that he's agile. It'll take more than one trick to land a hit on him — making him a perfect training dummy. He doesn't say anything else, but his eyes are speaking for him. From how he looks, he's definitely encouraging to him to keep it up. ]

[ Ah well. Always worth a shot, trying to sneak in a surprise attack! Even against someone who is offering to be solid target practice, which is really the best kind of practice, Wukong just wants to knock him down. Just once! If he can figure him out, which... well, that would be just dandy.

He's quiet, thinking about what else he could try. Why not a frontal assault? He hasn't truly expended his mana in a while, save for the beach incident that really worked out for him in the end. Raising his hand, he points a finger toward Setsuna, then holds them both out.

'Please be patient,' his gestures say. Taking his time, Wukong walks as far as possible until the other Knight is nearly out of sight before heading full speed toward him with his staff in both hands and in front as he vaults up into the air!

But he does it very early. Maybe two-thirds of the way? He's airborne with his primary weapon drawn, like he's going to smash the ground in front of Setsuna. Clearly, he's bad at estimating his jumping distance because---

--- just kidding, it extends to a length twice his weapon's size and now it's DEFINITELY going to catch Setsuna on the head if he doesn't react. The monkey knight is like a grinning, furry ball of mana and he's definitely looking to knock it out of his target! ]

[ The pointed finger is met with continued calm. Setsuna nods a little to affirm the unsaid implication, looking forward to what else the other Hero will try. Although he is meant to be target practice in this scenario, as mentioned earlier, he is also benefiting from this. To be specific, he's interested in improving his own capabilities outside of the offensive role. Especially as a Holy Knight, a Rank that needs to be acquainted with the aura of the world and those within it. He wants to learn more about his abilities to read the mana flows of Enprise and of others...

Setsuna did notice this Hero is a Knight too, though he wonders if they hold similar traits. He's curious to find out. Once his training partner charges forward again, he braces himself for the upcoming move. It's easy to notice that the jump is done early... That means there's another trick behind the gesture. But what? A magic spell? Another weapon technique? A fighting style? He tries to calculate possible outcomes while keeping himself focused on reading the surrounding mana.

A ground attack...? Setsuna holds himself back from moving preemptively until he's certain of what will happen next. He doesn't want to mistakenly dodge and be caught in a possible snare. One foot does motion backwards though, ready to react as soon as he realizes the next move.

It's hard to predict this because he has no idea of what the other Hero's second weapon can do. That's why when the staff suddenly expands and dangerously thrusts towards him, his eyes may have momentarily widened. But there's no second to spare; collecting himself after that split second of surprise, the youngest Meister dodges right on the last opportunity to do so. His cheek is grazed this time, causing a cut against his face but he at least escaped properly. ]

Not bad.

[ There aren't many others who can outwit him. He can tell, this Hero is also an experienced fighter like him. ]

Hm. You okay?

[ Concern is probably the last thing that Wukong would normally express. After all, the belief that one should be emotionally guarded during times of combat has always seemed prevalent, in his eyes. Even in training, to not go one hundred percent could mean not doing it in a real situation--- to have empathy can be a weakness. But when he turns around, the genuine reality that he may have landed a hit, even if it's the most glancing of blows... well, that deserves the question. He could feel a trace of Setsuna's mana linger on his staff, a flicker of it remaining after his attack. ]

Actually, I'd say it was bad. [ A hand on his waist as he turns to face Setsuna. Not yet a frown, but definitely not a smile. If anything, neutral, even if a smirk forms slowly as he does his best to explain himself--- why he feels the need is odd, but perhaps it'd help him out in the future. ] You were faster than I thought, but it wasn't your body I was hoping to hit, if that makes any sense.

[ And then he laughs, shaking his head at himself. ]

I was trying to incapacitate you, in some way, without injuring you. But I guess that's a little difficult against someone who's equally as skilled as I am.

[ There's no judgement from Setsuna's side. In fact, it's the opposite. Empathy in battle is a wonderful thing, he would agree. A battle doesn't have to be thoroughly brutal and senseless... Through a fight, people could also connect their feelings. To someone like Setsuna, who mostly lived through the battlefield, it matters to him that he could extend the meaning of his fighting through them. That's why if anything, his fellow Hero could only earn his respect for the sentiments.

He nods as a response, indicating that he's fine. He's sure that a talented Hero like his training partner could relate that something like a minor scratch is nothing at all. Besides, everyone present in this event already knows that they will end up injured here today. It's really fine though, this is nothing compared to the real thing. ]

Who knows. Perhaps you still will be able to.

[ It's a motivational cheer up. Maybe it's difficult, but it's not impossible after all. Not that he has any intention of being incapacitated, of course. So he'll continue to present a proper challenge. ]

... Maybe. Maybe not, but I hope what I do next will be a refreshing pace from what others may have shown you.

[ Respect above all else--- Setsuna's earned that. Wukong's got one more trick, something up his sleeve, something he hasn't done before. Against someone with fluidity to their movements and keen wits about them, Wukong can embrace the challenge of knocking Setsuna down with even more enthusiasm. He turns, widening the space between them again, watching the ground carefully to measure the distance specifically... or give the illusion that he cares about the space he'll be covering.

And then he stops, turns on his toes with the finesse of a dancer, and pulls out the banana again. This time, he balances it on the upper portion of his staff, letting it dangle before starting to swing it around and around. Almost hypnotic, the motion of the yellow banana against the red wood. Twirling, twirling. Spinning. More and more speed, though it's not nearly a blur.

That is, until he swings his staff out and the ranged weapon is sent flying at Setsuna, with a lunging Wukong behind it.

He's going for the home run. ]
