I won't argue with that. It must be why she sought you out-- she's probably looking for similar company.

[ Look, Jae-ha can plainly see that Shinoa is way, way too young, so thankfully she'll be spared his grossness, but he can still give her a compliment. It's generally not a terrible way of getting acquainted with someone.

Song, however, is now completely ignoring him. She waves and smiles shyly at Shinoa's compliment, then scurries over to hang out on her shoulder for a bit.

It's a cute sight, not that Jae-ha has much time to admire it, because he suddenly feels a lot of poking at his back?! Well, at his hair, but that beak is strong enough that he feels the jabs on his back too. He quickly whirls around, trying to swat the bird away. ]

Ow! Hey! Stop that! [ He'll run away if he has to!!! ]

Oh! Do you want to hang out for a while? Where do you want to go, we can explore the deck with your human- oh, did he call me cute too?

[Saying that they're similar really isn't a lie- Shinoa is also ignoring Jae-ha, up til she realizes that his comment had been a compliment. This gives him enough favour for her to start caring about his predicament.

He's not in any danger, though the vulture's flapping wings makes it look scary indeed; it seems to be treating this like a rodeo, making a game out of trying to stay on Jae-ha's shoulders.]

Eh... hang on for a bit, dear- oh, I'm Shinoa, please tell me your name later!- I'll deal with your human, I guess.

[She indicates with a gesture that Song might want to leave her shoulder, then stamps loudly at her Carrier.]

Hey! Get off, or the rope's going back on!

[This makes the bird take off with a reluctant squawk.]

[ He probably would have re-affirmed his compliment, if he wasn't so busy trying to keep his hair from being eaten. His hair is one of his favorite assets! He continues to chase after the bird, looking much like a dog chasing its own tail, and making very little actual progress.

Song nods solemnly and sighs as she flies off of Shinoa's shoulder, sulking nearby while Shinoa takes care of her embarrassing human. ]

The... rope? [ Jae-ha stares in bewilderment as the bird eases off, and Jae-ha sighs in relief. ] What a terrifying master. No wonder the vulture does what its told!

[There are a few ways this can be misinterpreted, and a few other ways to go about dealing with it. One involves explaining that keeping the bird on a leash so it doesn't fly into the wilderness and die is simply a practical aspect of bird-keeping, and doesn't harm the bird in any way.

But Jae-ha, a man clearly by looks and voice many years her senior, is calling her terrifying, and Shinoa is very about that life.]

You already think I'm terrifying~?

[She beams. It is not an innocent look.]

Aah, just wait til I see what I do to people I'm in charge of!

[She feels so much power from that one comment, and it feels good. Also the fairy Carrier likes her, so she's feeling doubly gratified as she motions that it's okay for Song to come back now.]

Well, I was just joking, but if that's what you're going for--

[ Well, no, the rope is a little terrifying, but sure, he'll go along with this, because it's actually quite endearing. ]

Does the cute overlord have a name, then?

[scythersergeant]

[She's trying to be scary now!!! Don't talk down to her!!!! Or she will hunt you down. And decapitate you. Or, uh, something. Shinoa really isn't the kidnap and torture expert of her family.]

Shinoa Hiiragi! [She's kind of taking this seriously like a five-year-old takes this seriously.] And what's this polite subject's name?

[This isn't how Jae-ha is supposed to be adopted..... this wasn't the plan]

Ah, but unfortunately, this man serves no master.

[ Still, he bows, both because he's actually polite (especially to cute girls, and especially to terrifying cute girls), and because going along with this is amusing. ]

This free agent's name is Jae-ha.

Oh, a free agent. Does coin buy your allegiance? Power? Women?

[He bows, so her childish ego is appeased. She adds, a pointed disclaimer,]

I don't actually know where to get women to introduce you so like, I'm just curious. No promises!

What would sway Jae-san to the idea of..... [She thinks of something so absurd, Guren would say no to even if offered the Hiiragi throne and maybe Shinya.] ....a piggyback ride?

Hmm... I think I could be persuaded with any of those save for power. You drive a hard bargain.

[ He puts his finger to his chin in thought, then widens his eyes in mock surprise. ]

You totally got my hopes up! How cruel.

[ That request, however, does actually surprise him enough that he grows speechless for a moment, blinking. ]

A... A piggyback ride? That's not really something you ask of someone you just met, is it? [ Not unless you're a kid, and while Shinoa is young... ]

A hard bargain for a hard request!

[Her childhood's been put off for a while. These things are still important to her. Shinoa isn't even joking when she points this out, as if the strangeness of a grown teenager asking for a ride has never occurred to her.]

I guess if you strike me as someone I'd really like to get a job done I'd start meeting more women to introduce you to. [Just have her agree to put in a good word to Vietnam, or something. What woman would disbelieve a darling young girl who happens to be carrying around a giant scythe?

She taps her chin in thought.] But as you said, we just met, so I'm unsure about your qualifications.
