When you teach a sword about Christmas...
Who: The Sword House and Friends! (Basically if you know any of the swords or Gilbert then you were invited)
When: A little before Christmas~
Where: The Sword House! (Jirou's place of residence)
What: Jirou learned about Christmas and now he wants to share that information with everyone! So all friends of the swords and Gilbert are invited!
Rating: PG (BE GOOD EVERYONE THERE ARE CHILDREN. No not really. The swords are all older than you.)
After finding out about this Christmas thing Jiroutachi had made sure that he got straight to work on a party for it. His main motivation being that Christmas involved alcohol. This surprised no one but what was surprising was that he'd bothered to help the other with decorations and such to make the house look festive. So now there were decorations everywhere with warm food for guests and a variety of drinks as well.
For those willing to go outside, there was a lovely fire setup to allow people to enjoy the lovely gardens while still staying warm. Jirou had even made sure that there was warmed wine for people to drink! (Or hot chocolate. Though that had likely not been his idea.)
So now all friends were invited to come and celebrate with them! To join the wonder of this Christmas thing!
[ooc: Feel free to tag around with each other or even have private threads. If you have met Jiroutachi, Kousetsu, Shinano, Nakigitsune, or Gilbert Nightray then you are automatically invited. If you want to say you slipped in without an invite that's cool too. If you want to be a friend of a guest then the more the merrier. Just go spread around and have fun!]

Living Room
She knew at least one person here, at least well enough that she didn't mind sitting nearby. Kaede didn't look up at Gilbert's voice, staring mostly at the bottom of her glass. The diclonius was reclusive, yes, but usually not this much.
When she did speak, her voice was quiet.]
...do you miss someone?
[There was a small box in her hands that she kept fiddling with.]
no subject
Who doesn't... [He can't help giving out a brief laugh.] It's fine, though. I'm used to waiting. Are you enjoying the party?
[It's not as smooth as he intended it to be, but it's Gilbert...things aren't supposed to go smoothly for him.
As for the box...he has noticed it, but he's not sure whether he should ask about it or give her some time to tell him what is it.]
no subject
[For once, Kaede didn't make fun of his awkward answer or bring much attention to it. But she didn't laugh either. It was all she could do not to wince at the reminder of how isolated she felt.]
There are people here.
[That didn't seem like such a bad thing this time. She turned the box over again, and whatever was in it thunked softly but solidly against the sides.]
no subject
Yes, there are.
[At least he realizes how badly this is going and tries something else:]
May I ask what is it? The thing you're holding. Is it a gift for someone?
[Now, that's a bit better...he hopes.]
no subject
Eventually Kaede glanced up at Gilbert and carefully, almost cautiously, reached out to hand it to him.]
It's yours.
[She wasn't...sure what to do, besides "give him the present"; that part was obvious, but what was she supposed to say?]
no subject
Mine? It's...
[He hasn't dropped anything like this today and he doesn't believe it's his possession, but then Gilbert finally understands what she meant.]
Oh. Wait a minute, don't move anywhere, alright?
omg I am so sorry
...uh. Okay.
[For once there was more honest bewilderment in her voice than an unspoken question about Gilbert's sanity. But the horned girl stayed put, staring at where he disappeared.]
np!!
Gilbert's back in less than minute, actually—he just needed to go to the other room and grab a box wrapped in decorative paper. Before handing it down, he chuckles awkwardly.]
It's nothing much, though. I'm not even sure if you're going to like it...
[Instead of putting himself down further, he just stretches out his hands to give her the box in which she can find a matching hat, scarf and gloves.]
no subject
Would it kill you to stop being a shit to yourself for one day, Gilbert?
[Kaede seemed to wake up again, at least partially. She snapped at him in a more familiar way than this subdued sulking.
She accepts the box, but doesn't tear off any of the paper yet, holding onto it instead. She felt...slightly self-conscious about her gift not having anything on it, but she'd given up on wrapping paper after an hour of fiddling to no avail.
Whenever Gilbert got around to opening it there was a cigarette case in it; silver except for the bee. The latter of which did make Kaede twitch a bit.
Stupid bees. But hopefully Gilbert had no such traumatic experiences.]
no subject
I just...
[For a moment he looks flushed, but then his lips curl up in a smile. Snapping Kaede, even though it sounds a little bad (maybe not just a little...), seems more natural to him.
Just like her, he's holding the box...they tried so far and got so far...]
Aren't you going to open it?
[Maybe he's not the person who should ask that and yet, here he is.]
no subject
-right, box.
She tugged at a corner of the paper, trying not to rip it, and--tore it anyway. Oh well. She didn't say anything, just finished what she started until she could open the box without paper flying everywhere. Naoki made a little sleepy protesting noise when the paper fell on his face, but did nothing more except wag his tail.
Kaede froze a moment when she saw what was in it, blinking a little. The horned girl brushed the fabric before picking up one of the gloves; it snagged a little against her callused and scarred hand.]
They're soft.
[Her voice was edgeless and quiet, like a wondering child's.]

[Gilbert keeps his answer short while examining his own gift—he just peeks at Kaede the moment she spoke up. Honestly speaking, overenthusiastic reaction isn't what he expected because he couldn't even imagine that. But it doesn't seem like she hates it, so that's already quite good.
Tapping the wasp on top of the case a few times, Gilbert tries to actually observe what Kaede's reaction is.]
Why won't you try them on? I-If they're not your size then I'll take them back to a shop immediately and...
[He's so nervous that he forgets that a) shops are closed, and, more importantly, b) hats, gloves and scarves are usually one-size.]
no subject
Gilbert. Stop it.
[Don't make her get up and punch some confidence into you man she'll do it.
Kaede makes and maintains direct eye contact with Gilbert, and slides the glove on. Her fingers get stuck once, but besides that mishap they do fit her small hands remarkably well. She mumbled a surprised noise, glancing down and flexing her hand before trying on the second one. Her hands were usually warm, but not usually from outwards and in.]
no subject
[If he only knew how to stop. But being silent should work, at least for now.
But he can't keep that up for too long.]
I've realized something when I was looking for a gift for you, actually... [It's better to finish the sentence before Kaede looks up at him again, so here he goes!] I don't even know what you really like...I guess I'm not any good at this socializing thing, after all.
no subject
...I don't really say much.
[As if that wasn't abundantly obvious already.
Her next words were stilted, uncertain; left on her own, she would have remained silent. But she...probably should say something, though what she had no idea of.]
Didn't know what you wanted either.
[Bees were okay, right??]
no subject
Really? But you got it right.
[Never enough of cigarette cases!]
Even though I don't say much either.
no subject
...hm.
[For that, though, Kaede seemed quietly happy. At the gift, at being right, both; there was a lightness in her chest that wasn't there a few moments ago.
She still felt miserable. But now, at least, not quite as much as before.]
no subject
Merry...Cherima, was it?
[He's been here a while, but somehow it doesn't mean that he's gotten used to the weird Blanc names.]
no subject
French is not like Japanese at all I mean what]I guess that was it.
[Kaede traced a fingertip over the snowflake pattern, again lapsing a long moment before she said anything.]
...merry Cherima.
[Listen to her, parroting phrases back at people. But it didn't seem like the wrong thing to say.]
