Roaming through your woods, I was king!
Who: Regina and Ozymandias
When: Mid-November
Where: Hall of Glory
What: After Caren's mishap with a potion, Regina decides to step in and help with the elixirs.
Rating: TBA!!
[ Once the small group of heroes began to disperse away from the table that once held numerous elixirs, Regina begins to slowly take a mental note of the harmful elixirs, helping put them aside and, one, in particular, she vowed to toss away. She says nothing as she leans over others, taking bottles away, ensuring that she look even odder at this rate, as tall and pale as she was. As much as she loathed others, as much as she couldn't bare to be in the room with people, she said nothing and returned to a quiet area of the Hall of Heroes, surrounded by bottles and began to slowly putting them into a basket.
The only company was her carrier as she sat there, trying her own luck at a few. The only side effects she experienced were, fortunately, bitter tastes or fowl odors. The little mouse remained by her side when others eventually left her to sit there. He would remain by her side, fervently loyal to his mistress, even when some of the side effects would have frightening consequences. ]
All of this and they still haven't found an alternative. Is it worth it, I wonder. What do you think, annwyl?
[ As far as she knows, she is alone in the hall, speaking softly and kindly to her carrier with a vulnerability she rarely displayed. ]

It's been working for a few years now, anyway.
No one is going to think twice about her, she thinks, no one is really going to care. But that's interesting, how he doesn't comment about his own illness. Surely he would have jumped on that, wouldn't he? ]
Blanc and... what was his name?
[ Her carrier offers a squeak or two as if to say the name. ]
Secretary Verdoni or however you say his name. They want to gather their results and pass them along to Pidgeonsblood to be studied further. They want to find something outside of the chroma algae. It's wise, I think, especially if it's becoming difficult to obtain for the common folk.

[ Right, Verdoni... Somewhat also on Ramesses' radar after digging for information on the officials as best he could and the hierarchy of Blanc in how it functions. It would be difficult to know the right questions to ask in order to nullify any excuses in providing the answers he seeks. As of right now, he is still weighing his options on whether he wants to pin blame on a poor system or on the individual for conveniently not answering him.
As someone who is naturally to be listened to as he is who he is, it's understandable he isn't exactly so tolerant of being ignored. That's fine, however. If he doesn't get what he seeks with honey, he is more than willing to douse the situation with vinegar.
For another time, however. His indecision over Verdoni and his methods is kept silent for the time being. ]

[ She's made a point to pull out the worst of the worst, interestingly enough. Where she's usually so prone to seeking and tormenting others for their weaknesses and mocking them, here she was, purposefully isolating elixirs that brought suffering to others. ]
I took them away so no one else would be hurt. I've only seen a select few on my part, mind you, that haven't had strange reactions. Every medicine will have a side effect, nobody will react the same. Even then, these people came out of the goodness of their hearts, they shouldn't suffer more from it.
[ That, at least, she knows, from her teacher. She's managed to keep a small list, a piece of parchment and a stick of charcoal to write down the things she's found. ]
We'll see if they work for their intended purposes with the others. I feel that it's too early to tell.

[ Is that what's going on here? The government is proficient enough even in science to have proper testing without reaching out to the public? Magic potions or not... huh. ]
Are you, too, doing this profiling out of the goodness of your own? [ Aside all things, it's always nice to see goodness being reciprocated in some manner towards those that reach out and offer. ]

[ Not that Blanc seemed like an empire to do such a thing, she's noticed. At least they came willingly, even if she, herself, would likely drag her feet and not participated in it. She would find her own methods.
And yet, any sort of hint of goodness or compassion, she is already deflecting it. She can't have that association, she's not that kind of person anymore. It takes time for her to respond in the midst of writing notes and burying her conflicting thoughts.
Regina's response is a dismissive wave of her hand. ]
Someone has to record these results and elixirs.
[ There have been a few people, she's not the only one, but someone should tell her ego that. ]
How else are they going to find out which works and what doesn't?
[ She glances back at up at him, gesturing to the table. ]
Have at it, yourself. Whatever you've been using to keep your illness at bay may not last long. [ Even if he isn't going to admit to being ill, she will take the time to remind him. ]

Who has ever heard of such a preposterous thing as a god-king being a Guinea pig...!
[ —even as he sits down at the opposite side of the table, arms folded in either displeasure or dismay... hard to tell. ]
1/2
[ A smile begins to curl on her lips and Regina finds herself laughing. She isn't sure if she completely buys the notion of a "god-king"; no god would ever grace themselves in the mortal world, she felt. If they ever were to, it would be as much as a wonderful and terrible thing.
Then again, it doesn't help her strong feelings on kings and royalty, laughing at him. He has no idea and, in a way, that makes it funnier to her. ]
How do you think medicines are created? Kings get sick and die like any other man, you're no exception to this.

[ She settled herself in the same rigid posture and expression she always wore. With that, she turned to her side, pulling out a few bottles that she knew that were at least less likely to leave him on the ground in pain. ]
Real men are willing to put themselves out there, no matter how demeaning the task. It's not like any of these will kill you.
[ She's pretty sure. ]

I died quite some time ago, already, where I am from. [ Again, it means nothing here. ] So, of course none of these will kill me.
[ probably. Death is a farce in this place, anyway, from what he's heard.
Anyway, onto more important matters. ] Which are left?

[ She reclines back, running her hand through her hair. ]
It's almost kind of cute.
[ Light flirting aside, she slides a few over to him, a handful that she knows that won't harm him. Much. If there are any odd side effects that she hasn't reacted to, she'll take it into account and record it. But really, she hopes that it won't cause him severe pain, like the ones that she's seen. ]
These should be safe enough.

He flusters a little at her flirting, his cheeks feeling heated in embarrassment even as he reaches for the potions, taking a look at them. Some of these just look... unpleasant. Regardless of what they actually do, they could at least make it seem appealing visually, no? ]
All right, I'll start with this one.
[ Ramesses lifts the bottle as he says it, opening it to take some of it before replugging the vial and handing it to her for her to know exactly which it is while he waits for any supposed side effects. ]
How long do these side effects last, anyway?
[ Maybe something he should have asked before taking a swig of one but oh well... ]

Then again, she would say that she is not a completely kind woman. It's more fun when she can poke and prod at a man than respect any personal boundaries. ]
I think they vary. In some cases, instantaneous and in others, a few minutes afterward. And I've seen them wear off as quick as they come.
[ Really. She can't help herself. She pauses, her only eye on him; really, it's not often she sees a man flusters. It's hilarious, it's great. ]
You should be fine -- the worst they can do is make you redder and you don't need that.
no subject
Ramesses huffs some in reply to that, but manages to keep from getting any more animated over it. Although he doesn't take easy offense to teasing, getting flustered in front of someone is not a thing he often does.
Too late to be concerned now.
He waits a moment before finally speaking again. ]
There is a bad taste in my mouth that is not the same as the potion's taste itself.
[ a very bad taste, actually, one that quickly becomes to what he assumes rot must taste like.
Great. Not a symptom that will kill you but not pleasant and disruptive to anyone who's stomach may be easily turned by tastes and smells. ]
no subject
[ But would that depend on the taste? Playing and joking aside, she watches his reaction carefully to determine how she'll write this information down. ]
Or it could be the illness reaction to the potion.
[ She waits for it to course through his body, drumming her fingers on the table as she does. ]
Give it a few moments and tell me what happens thereafter. I won't be leaving you.
