Who: Syrlya + Rin, Lux, Anna, Lenalee (Maybe others?)
When: Early-through-mid October, before the war.
Where: Everywhere
What: Syrlya gets involved with taking photos for money, school, and friendship.
Rating: PG-13 max
[Rin - Presentations]
[It was luck that Syrlya and Rin were both coming at the same time to argue with the professor that they should be able to skip Rudimentary Illusion Forms. And the professor, surprisingly, agreed--on one condition.
They needed to deliver a presentation to the school about the events of the dungeon that took place in their halls.
Syrlya wasn't sure what that had to do with illusions, but once out of the office he gives Rin a hopeful smile.] That doesn't sound like a terrible way to prove our worth. Do you suppose they are looking for us to describe our use of illusions there?
[Lenalee - Study Buddies]
[And on some school days Syrlya stays after class to sit in the library with his homework, staring intently with a furrowed brow as his pen taps the paper.
He's been like that for ten minutes. Absolutely no progress has been made on this homework. The math sheet nearby appears to have been abandoned halfway through.] Perhaps this was a mistake...
[Anna - Post Dungeon]
[He's out and about when he spots Anna across the path, and with a smile and little regard for traffic he starts crossing to catch up with her.] Well there's a face I have not seen for a while! How are you faring, Anna?
[Lux - Paid Vacation]
[Of course, "vacation" means instead of the hero uniform Syrlya was dressed down much more casually. He has the camera looped around his neck as the stablehand draws out two horses by their reigns for him and Lux--something to make their trip to the Emerald Lakes much easier for a price that Syrlya doesn't mind sparing.
He ogles the horses for a solid minute before turning to Lux with a grin.] Does it matter who sits on which one? I will let you choose first.
[Wildcard]
[Let me know on plurk or PM if you'd like to start any thread with Syrlya, we can work something out!]

[ Anna stops to wave as she lets the Sylvari catch up to her. She seems to be hauling a mysterious bag of goods. It looks heavy at first glance, but she's somehow dragging it without breaking a sweat. ]
Hi! -- Heads up! [ As Syr crosses the road, a reckless cyclist is on a collision course with him. Will he avoid it in time?? ]
no subject
[He looks both ways this time before crossing the street to Anna's side.] How are you? That's quite the luggage you have there.

Dungeoning pays well, my friend! ... Wait, is that even a word?

I... it was my first time in battle after earning this badge. [ She points to the badge that indicates her rank; a Knight. ]
no subject
Ah--[His eyes drift down to the badge.] It was the same for me. How did you feel? More capable?

Is that weird? That's probably weird.

[ And yes, the bag is physically heavy, Anna answers that by setting it in front of them. Thankfully her rank promotion came with an upgrade in physical strength, which is why it's no trouble for her. ]
The idea came to me as I was watching teevee the other day, during a program called "Alone at Home 2: Lost in Something-something". Anyway, the title's not important.

Dropping some slippery oil here, some... spiky things there... some mouse traps... it could've made made quite the difference!

Is it alright if I sit here?
[she points to the empty chair across from Syrlya, her tone low enough not to disturb any other students traumatized about math]

I thought I'd get some work done here before I head back to Caissa for the weekend. [she stays at the dorms, but not for long lengths of time... good thing she can Fly] Which class are you working on?
no subject
He looks down at his homework with a slight frown.] It is... algebra? It is a class they requested I take as a basis for more advanced courses, but I do not see why.
[He points at once X equation.] This does not even look like real math!
no subject
[ah....]
Oh... [??? why are they making syr learn math in magic school, what kind of institution is this!!!! but Lenalee will take a closer look at the worksheet anyway] It's a different kind of math, so I understand how it looks confusing. But it really is very simple once you get the rules down! I could teach you if you like.
no subject
He opens his mouth to protest, but when he glances back to his worksheet even he has to concede defeat.
He sighs and nudges the paper closer to her.] If it would not be too much trouble for you...

[WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR, if not helping others struggle through math]
Here, first... [AND HANDWAVING THAT LENALEE iS DOING HER BEST TO TEACH ALGEBRA TO SYR HERE pls forgive this giant handwaved portion ath]
[it's surprisingly easy to follow?? while Lenalee's no scientist, she's helped her brother enough that she has a good memory of all of this. even tho it's algebra. by the end, she looks over at Syr with a sort of anxious expression on her face,]
Was that easy to follow?
no subject
Yes--I think I understand it now. I still don't understand why I need it for magic, though. [But he looks up at Lenalee with a smile.] Thank you. It's good to have some direction.
[He starts up on another problem before he turns up to her again.] What is it you are studying here? I don't believe I've seen you in either class I chose.
no subject
I'm mostly taking introductory classes on mana and magic, since mana's still relatively new to me. Oh, and a class on combining magic with hand-to-hand combat!
[cause u gotta learn how to punch people]
The students in Achroite are really amazing at that. I saw a girl set her arms on fire, but she wasn't hurting herself at all! Instead, all the dummies she punched burnt to crisp!
[why is lenalee so excited about this]
no subject
Ah! Is that close to what your weapon does, then? Area you excelling in it?
no subject
[possibly with fire?? possibly without?? Lenalee still doesn't know that her shoes don't do well with fire but she'll find out some day...]
I could help teach you if you want, Syr! Fire punching could come in handy... What kind of close quarters combat do you do?
no subject
Do they really let you fly after all?
*shows??? why did i write shows??? im confused
For as long as my mana lasts. [which she doesn't have much of but HEY] Maybe you could... set your sword on fire? Actually, maybe that will damage the sword...

presentations!
Perhaps it's intended that we'll use our skill with illusions to animate a story about our adventures in the dungeon.
[in her citrine yellow uniform, rin is remarkably unperturbed. magic professors are always going to come up with weird assignments. she should thank the professor for the early introduction...]

Yeah, we were successful. I had a party of three Heroes, including myself.

[she watches him with vague interest as he writes.]
All I know is that she was a pain in the ass. Some hoity-toity mistress who wanted to lord over everything, including the guy on my own team... How insufferable, right? Who's going to cast charm magic on someone just to make them a toy?
[rin... you do that sort of thing...]
no subject
[It probably isn't important for their report, but if this dungeon also fits a theory about grief and magic tied into their creation...]
no subject
I'll say. It had to do with Pigeonsblood itself. You know how it goes. The academy is a failure and she can do much better by it.
no subject
[He rests his chin on his hand.] It must be what starts a dungeon, isn't it? List love that turns into grief... and that grief becomes a poison.
con at me alive sorry ;;
Oh, this was going to be fun, wasn't it? ]
Oh, no, I insist. Choose whichever one you feel most comfortable with.

He settles on the brown horse that seems a little calmer. Or at least more apathetic. He grabs the saddle and hauls himself off the floor.
But he doesn't make it over the horse. He hauls himself up again, and then a third time tries to throw his leg over the back of the horse to roll onto its back--
and then he just slips off the side onto the ground.] Oof!
