Who: Meliora (
femmefailtale) and Luna (
medicament)
When: 9/18
Where: Aquarium (Caissa)
What: Just gals being pals.
Rating: None?
[Once Meliora brought up the aquarium, Luna's been wondering how is it like inside. The photo the girl attached to the letter gave her a general idea, but since she hasn't been there yet, Luna's been looking forward to it.
It wasn't the only thing she was looking forward, though. The other would be meeting Meliora, of course.
Maybe that's why she arrives at the spot almost an hour earlier, wearing a casual outfit. There's nothing much to do at the entrance, so she simply watches the people who are going in while she's waiting for the other girl.]

[When she spots Luna, she waves and shuts her parasol, holding it over a shoulder.]
Heya! Didn't keep you waiting for too long, did I? Hopefully not--I know I'm a tad late.

H-Hello! Meliora, you...
[It's not surprising at all that she looks even better close; the dress and the accessories are really something else and Meliora wears them so well, too. Luna's not even sure what should she compliment first.]
No, you didn't! [Her smile widens.] You look...oh, is it a skull?
[It's a small detail, but Luna can't believe she missed it and noticed it just now.]
You put so much thought into it...I don't know what to say, you look adorable.

[She takes a quick spin around, and then curtsies, pulling up the hems of her dress to do so.]
And since I'm probably going to be spending most of today trying to pretend I'm not utterly terrified, I might as well look amazing doing it, right?
Not that you look any less great. I really like the hat.

Oh, right...I forgot that it had a tiny skull. Back then, I hadn't even noticed it, to be quite honest.
[She's going to remember that Meliora has an eye for details, that's for sure.]
I believe in you, Meliora. And I'm going to be at your side all the time.
[Just before offering the other girl her hand, Luna thanks her for the compliment.]
We don't have to go inside right away if you're not ready yet. We may take a short walk before going there.
i know i should be in bed but i snuck this tag out anyways shh. >w>
[She takes Luna's hand, lacing her fingers into a firm squeeze as she moves shoulder to shoulder with her, the very picture of confidence itself as she uses her free hand to fwip her sideways ahoge--the one over her bangs. It bounces a couple times, as she points dramatically for the entrance to the aquarium.]
And what kind of brave, genteel host would I be if I kept you waiting, hm? There's a pretty girl here, so I have to show her what she'd like to see. And if I get scared... Well, I may just have to squeeze her hand a little harder~
[She's laying her usual devil-may-care attitude and flirtatiousness on thick, but this is mostly to hide her nerves. She's noticed long ago that the flustered can't usually notice when other people are flustered.]
♥
At least, after Diana pointed some things out for her, Luna's not that oblivious this time (It helps a lot that Mel is really direct, though). But is she flustered? Well, yes, judging by the dust of blush spreading across her cheeks and her short chuckle.]
I-I can't even imagine you getting scared, really...
[Her image of Meliora might be just a tad bit idealized, but she genuinely believes it.]

I'd be surprised if you could. I go out of my way to keep the fear on the inside where it can't make me do something stupid. Honestly, though? ...I'm scared plenty of the time. [Her hand gets a squeeze as she says it.] Like when the earth was breaking apart in those... earthquakes? [She's still unsure of the word--the concept has no reason to exist in her universe.] I didn't know what to make of it.

It's pretty natural to keep it confined. No one likes to show off their weaknesses, right? [At that, Luna frowns briefly, but her expression clears up rather fast.] Even though we all have them. I doubt that there's an exception to that. [It's Luna's turn to give Mel a squeeze which is followed with a shy smile.] Yes, earthquakes...
[Of course, she could explain what earthquakes are from scientific point of view, but Luna doubts that's necessary right now.]
They are really scary, no matter whether you're familiar with them or not. But please...don't keep all your fears to yourself. It's not going to do you any good...I understand that it's difficult to admit them in front of someone, but I'm sure that a brave person like you could do it if you only wanted that.

[It's only after they're past the ticket counter and in the main lobby of the aquarium that she decides to answer, tilting her head towards Luna a little bit. She's been biting her lip a little, gnawing on it in worry.]
Um. Hey. I'm not... really all that brave, you know? I run all the time. Hell--[The word is almost laughed out.]--It's practically my main feature. If you keep talking like I'm all brave and stuff... [She trails off.]
Well, we're underwater anyways. I could. Um. Tell you about that.

I don't see you running now.
[When Meliora offers her to tell Luna the story, she gives her a gentle nod.]
Don't push yourself too hard, please. But if you'd like to tell me, then I'll be honored to hear you out.

Anyways... I told you before, right? About how my world's got the islands floating over that endless ocean? It's got high enough levels of magic in it to be poisonous to basic humans, and the creatures there are giant monsters who feed on mana and anything else that gets in their way. If you went sailing down there like people do in the boats I've seen around Caissa's pier, you'd basically get ripped to shreds in seconds--and that's just the surface. [But that's just literally living in her world--if she doesn't clarify it'll sound like she's just complaining about being alive in her world--and that makes her sound like a baby now doesn't it? She puffs up, tapping her parasol against her shoulder.]
Not that I care about that part! That's normal stuff.
I've just... been undersea once. At the very bottom of the ocean, where the light doesn't even reach. And I saw some... [She searches for a word for the eldritch abominations that were writhing around down there where the mana level was even higher and the beasts even more twisted and lethal--she can't find one.] things down there. That's what scared me. N-not just the water itself.

[The tone of her voice is slightly different from the usual one—it's bittersweet, just as the smile she wears at the moment.
Once Meliora begins her story, the questions pile up in Luna's mind. How did she end up at the bottom of the ocean? How did she get out? How long was she there? Was she there all alone?]
I'm so sorry that you have been through something so horrible. [Even though she doesn't really know the details, it doesn't take much to realize that how traumatic it must have been.] And I'm glad you made it out there safe...
no subject
...So. [She caught something before that piques her interest.]
I take it you're running too? I don't mind catching you... but what's up?
no subject
[At this point, though, Luna's hundred percent positive that Mel will overcome her fears. If not today, then definitely in the future.]
Yes, that's true but...I-I think we should focus on one thing at a time. I promise that we'll talk about it properly sometime. I'm sorry.
no subject
No big deal. We all have stuff we don't say. [She pauses, then sort of turns to catch Luna's eye, looking over at her.] Me more than most. Sorry if you don't think I'm cool by the end of things.
[That flicker of worry stays for a moment before she's back to her usual smarm, pointing forward with the parasol.]
Now! What say you we go head into that underwater tunnel and see about getting me good and pants wettingly terrified!
