Training: The Gammon edition

Who: Caren and you!
When: Gladia 10th (aka August 10th)
Where: Kickdton, Gammon
What: Caren organized a mass training session. This can only go well.
Rating: PG-13 for possible language and certainly violence. Train on!

It's not a difficult place to find, considering the directions: all heroes had to do was find Kickin' Kiwi park, and head straight for the river. There would be all sorts of helpful signs which hero worshippers may have helped set up. Watch out for the kiwi birds though, they're everywhere! In the distance, there's the Royal Foccer Fellowship Stadium. So in case one wishes to go watch some foccer practice instead, that's always an option.

But that's not what you heroes are here for, is it? You're here in the middle of a truly beautiful park for some training! There's a notice (and possibly a fan or two hovering around) stuck to a clean pile of rocks, saying for trainnees must tie a ribbon (which are in buckets, and also somehow stuck to the rocks?) to their arm, corresponding to the training they wish to take. The categories are as follow:

Healing (BLUE) Weapons (RED) Magic (PURPLE) Endurance (GREEN) Sparring (ORANGE)

Trainers are instructed to take the armbands (also found in the buckets!) of the corresponding colours of their course so not to confuse the students. However, if it turns out you are a terrible trainer, Caren will happily take away your armband and give you your own special lesson. (What that lesson is, no one wants to find out).

Don't forget to bring your heroic weapons, because training weapons are not provided. Though maybe you'll get lucky, and someone will want to teach hand to hand combat!

It's also highlighted in BOLD RED LETTERS THAT KILLING IS FORBIDDEN. Try to break this rule, and Caren will break you. Slowly.

Have your ribbon on? It's time to start that training montage!

((OOC: EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Make friends, learn a few things, and have fun!

Also please incidate in your top level if you are a trainee or a trainer!

eg The Doctor | Trainer -Magic
Donna Noble | Trainee - EVERYTHING PLEASE
Jack Harkness | Trainer - Endurance + trainee -magic))

Really?

[ Anna has no idea what she's getting into, does she?

Kojirou holds his wooden sword relaxed at his side, but he's ready. ]

Shall we have a demonstration of how easy it is? Do you have your own weapon on hand?

Uh... not really. [ Her mitts are technically weapons, but she's not sure how to utilize them against swords yet. ]

Can I borrow that really big one?

[ She points to the biggest one that's available. ]
hiryugaeshi: (i'm just that good)

It is a fairly unwieldy weapon, but...

[ Ignore the fact that Kojirou's personal weapon, the Laundry Pole, is almost as long as he is tall and totally bonkers for a sword. He's going to tell Anna that big weapons are tough to use. ]

Taking what comes naturally to us is best. If the biggest one is your first choice, then so be it.

[ He tosses her a wooden sword. It's actually the second biggest, after the obnoxiously long magic weapon of Kojirou's, but it's still pretty huge. ]

[ Anna catches it in her arms as if she's playing rugby. She would clearly be dead if it were a real sword. ]

Whoa! It's... heavier than I thought.

...
I like it! [ It means it packs a better punch, right? It's also bigger than Prince Hans' but who's keeping score.

Anna shifts to hold it by the hilt with both hands, then tries a couple of cool fighting poses. ]

How am I doing? Do I look like a pro yet?
hiryugaeshi: (ugh)

[personal profile] hiryugaeshi 2016-08-27 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... Hmm. ]

How should I put it... You seem to look like you know what someone who knows their way around a sword looks like.

[ Is that supposed to be praise? No, not really. Kojirou's not terribly impressed, but he's not going to dismiss any student out of hand. ]

But you're a long way from being able to actually fight.

Then I guess this is step one! Hiyaaaah!

[ Without warning (not that it's necessary between their skill levels), Anna directs a spinblade attack towards Kojirou, Legend of Zelda style!! ]
hiryugaeshi: (come at me)

[personal profile] hiryugaeshi 2016-08-29 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[ In the first place, sneak attacks don't work on Kojirou! Or so he'd tell people. It's certainly possible, but not if the sneak attacker is right in front of him yelling really loudly when he's already prepared. ]

It is said that a journey of a hundred miles must start with that one step.

[ He takes a step back and pokes forward with his sword, sneaking the wooden blade between the spins and prodding Anna in the back, right between her shoulder blades. ]

The first lesson: Don't take your eyes off the enemy.

Ow-- hey!

[ Damn him, that was pretty good. (What did she expect???) ]

Oh, I'm gonna keep an eye on you, don't you worry. You just-- watch me... watching you... watch... I lost my train of thought.

[ She readies herself once more, reminding herself that this is a valuable learning experience. ]

So how many lessons are there again? [ If that was lesson one. Maybe she can get through all of them in a day!! ]
hiryugaeshi: (come at me)

[personal profile] hiryugaeshi 2016-08-30 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be sure to keep my eyes on you, then.

[ Not because she's a pretty lady or anything though! That would just be leering! ]

Alas, the path of the sword never ends.

[ Because really, was Anna expecting any other answer? ]

But for today, we should be able to do enough to keep you from tripping over your feet.
sommer: (pic#10393587)

[personal profile] sommer 2016-08-31 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You're gonna teach me how to not trip over? When will I learn that back poke thing you just did on me before?
hiryugaeshi: (really?)

[personal profile] hiryugaeshi 2016-08-31 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You'll figure it out in time if you continue training.

[ What kind of lessons would he be teaching if he ever went down a list of what to do if the enemy has their backs showing though? That's not sword training, that's ninja training! Which while probably very cool, isn't Kojirou's thing.

Ignore the fact that he's an Assassin. ]

For now, just try swinging the sword as hard as you can.

[ And try not to overbalance yourself and fall flat on your face okay ]
sommer: (pic#10360896)

[personal profile] sommer 2016-09-02 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Easy!

[ Anna heaves the sword once more, trying to bring it down on Kojirou. For what it's worth, she is putting all her effort into it. ]

Haaa--!!!
hiryugaeshi: (i'm just that good)

[personal profile] hiryugaeshi 2016-09-03 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kojirou's just going to step to one side and let the sword fall right past him. ]

Well then. I believe first you need to work on your conditioning.

[ He nods, properly deciding on a course of action. ]

So why don't you keep swinging that sword?
