Training: The Gammon edition

Who: Caren and you!
When: Gladia 10th (aka August 10th)
Where: Kickdton, Gammon
What: Caren organized a mass training session. This can only go well.
Rating: PG-13 for possible language and certainly violence. Train on!

It's not a difficult place to find, considering the directions: all heroes had to do was find Kickin' Kiwi park, and head straight for the river. There would be all sorts of helpful signs which hero worshippers may have helped set up. Watch out for the kiwi birds though, they're everywhere! In the distance, there's the Royal Foccer Fellowship Stadium. So in case one wishes to go watch some foccer practice instead, that's always an option.

But that's not what you heroes are here for, is it? You're here in the middle of a truly beautiful park for some training! There's a notice (and possibly a fan or two hovering around) stuck to a clean pile of rocks, saying for trainnees must tie a ribbon (which are in buckets, and also somehow stuck to the rocks?) to their arm, corresponding to the training they wish to take. The categories are as follow:

Healing (BLUE) Weapons (RED) Magic (PURPLE) Endurance (GREEN) Sparring (ORANGE)

Trainers are instructed to take the armbands (also found in the buckets!) of the corresponding colours of their course so not to confuse the students. However, if it turns out you are a terrible trainer, Caren will happily take away your armband and give you your own special lesson. (What that lesson is, no one wants to find out).

Don't forget to bring your heroic weapons, because training weapons are not provided. Though maybe you'll get lucky, and someone will want to teach hand to hand combat!

It's also highlighted in BOLD RED LETTERS THAT KILLING IS FORBIDDEN. Try to break this rule, and Caren will break you. Slowly.

Have your ribbon on? It's time to start that training montage!

((OOC: EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Make friends, learn a few things, and have fun!

Also please incidate in your top level if you are a trainee or a trainer!

eg The Doctor | Trainer -Magic
Donna Noble | Trainee - EVERYTHING PLEASE
Jack Harkness | Trainer - Endurance + trainee -magic))

Yes, friendship does mean so much, but it does not hold enough strength on its own to be considered a core lesson. You see, the final word is love.

[ And it left a bitter taste in her mouth. She had loved her sisters so very much, and yet she had been unable to save them from their song, from Zero. In that, she was weak. She had failed. ]

Each word relies so heavily on that word. Without the concept of love, they lose their meaning. They are not but empty air. Be it love among family, friends, or comrades. Love for these people, places, this world. It gives us the strength to go on. To understand all we learn. It is the most important lesson of all.

[..ah. That's right--love. At it's core, friendship is about the same thing--right? Ed's pretty sure he understands now.*]

So... bigger than even friendship, it's the compassion that underlies our ability to make friends. Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I don't usually think about it that deeply... but then, I don't exactly have anything to rule, or any wars to fight. M'just an average, everyday wizard.

Oh--where're my manners? Call me Ed, it's great to meet you.

[*actual understanding may vary.]

A pleasure to meet you, Sir Ed. I am One.

[ Intoner of Justice. Ruler of Cathedral City. Eldest of the Five Intoners, youngest only to Zero. All these titles, all these memories, and yet she refused to mention them. Those titles had been left back in the throne room where she'd died. ]

Perhaps, since you are at war now, like the rest of us, you should think on these things.
fuhrinkaed: (mulling it over)

Yeah... maybe. [His head rolls from one shoulder over to the other, as he chews on the idea.]

Well, mostly I just think about what the right thing to do is, and then how to do it. If everyone just tries their hardest to do that, it usually all works out in the end. A-and given what happens when I do try thinking on things...

[He sighs, shaking his head.]

E-er, nevermind that, I just think too much when I let my mind wander, and it doesn't usually end well. It's better that I just do what needs doing in the moment, y'know?

[ Doing only enough...

Like Two or, perhaps, the Disciples.

Doing what was right. Thinking, assuming what was for the best. What was right. Doing only enough.

One shook her head after a moment, lips curling just slightly at the edges. ]

So you would choose to follow the will of another? To be told what is right, to follow orders without considering what the consequences might be? Like the train incident.

[ She knew better. Talk like that might just get her in trouble. But One was the Intoner of Logic, and, to some extent, Pride. And her pride had been wounded that day. ]
fuhrinkaed: (I wonder about that...)

Mmm... something like that. [He's being a little evasive on purpose here, giving a nonanswer.]

The train incident was a bit unfortunate, but we weren't the only ones there fighting. I decided to trust the army to do their best--and they did. It just wasn't quite enough that time. I don't think you should blame yourself... everyone tried their best, after all, and I'm sure there'll be a better plan the next time.

If we had a competent - [ she paused, taking in a sharp breath. ] If we had considered the attack would be on a larger scale, we would have been successful on both accounts. But we did not, and so no matter how many consider it a victory, it was not.

[ She would have to shift the conversation soon. Would have to find a way to detach herself from these affairs, less her temper show. And the temper of a Utahime was an ugly thing. ]

They did consider it, though... that's why they sent their actual army to-- [Ed pauses. This is getting him nowhere, and debating strategy isn't going to do anything but hurt feelings and friendship is a little more important.]

Anyways, neither side really won or lost, and what happened from there is what it is. I mean, I'm not exactly a tactician myself, y'know? Eheh.
