Training: The Gammon edition
Who: Caren and you!
When: Gladia 10th (aka August 10th)
Where: Kickdton, Gammon
What: Caren organized a mass training session. This can only go well.
Rating: PG-13 for possible language and certainly violence. Train on!

It's not a difficult place to find, considering the directions: all heroes had to do was find Kickin' Kiwi park, and head straight for the river. There would be all sorts of helpful signs which hero worshippers may have helped set up. Watch out for the kiwi birds though, they're everywhere! In the distance, there's the Royal Foccer Fellowship Stadium. So in case one wishes to go watch some foccer practice instead, that's always an option.
But that's not what you heroes are here for, is it? You're here in the middle of a truly beautiful park for some training! There's a notice (and possibly a fan or two hovering around) stuck to a clean pile of rocks, saying for trainnees must tie a ribbon (which are in buckets, and also somehow stuck to the rocks?) to their arm, corresponding to the training they wish to take. The categories are as follow:
Healing (BLUE) Weapons (RED) Magic (PURPLE) Endurance (GREEN) Sparring (ORANGE)

Trainers are instructed to take the armbands (also found in the buckets!) of the corresponding colours of their course so not to confuse the students. However, if it turns out you are a terrible trainer, Caren will happily take away your armband and give you your own special lesson. (What that lesson is, no one wants to find out).
Don't forget to bring your heroic weapons, because training weapons are not provided. Though maybe you'll get lucky, and someone will want to teach hand to hand combat!
It's also highlighted in BOLD RED LETTERS THAT KILLING IS FORBIDDEN. Try to break this rule, and Caren will break you. Slowly.
Have your ribbon on? It's time to start that training montage!
((OOC: EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Make friends, learn a few things, and have fun!
Also please incidate in your top level if you are a trainee or a trainer!
eg The Doctor | Trainer -Magic
Donna Noble | Trainee - EVERYTHING PLEASE
Jack Harkness | Trainer - Endurance + trainee -magic))

After affixing the red and orange bands to his right arm, he stopped to think for a moment. While his mana pool was not and would never be large, he did want to learn whatever possible regarding healing and magic! That being the case, he found blue and purple bands and, after a slight struggle to free them from the rocks they were stuck to, he manged to get them situated on his left arm.
Confusing? Perhaps a bit, but he was a very open and friendly person and would be happy to answer any questions!

So far, she hasn't met anyone near her height, but it's not unusual for her, even in her own world. Nephilim were tall beings, often referred to as giants for a reason. She's been sitting in the grass, enjoying the smell, sight, and sound of the small river nearby, watching him fumble through armbands. What catches her eye is the fact that, he too, is wearing an eye patch.
Subconsciously, she tugs her bangs over the large scar over her scar. Regina hasn't felt this self-conscious in a long time since she's felt this self-conscious. She heaves a sigh, dreading the fact that this whole training exercise is making her, gods forbid, social.
"Can't make up your mind....?" She's hoping he picks something. She's in need of a challenge.

He grinned, noticing the scar although she'd made an attempt to cover it.
"Would you be interested? In either teaching or learning, I'm nowhere near picky!"

But this world didn't have as many trees at it did back her own or in Eire. "I can only offer basic magic, for now. I am still learning how to apply what I know to this world and it's limitations."
But sparring, however. Regina looked him over, canting her head to the side, "Well, at least you're actually tall, you might stand a chance against me."
So she was still plenty arrogant.
no subject
"Ahhh, then my stature serves me well! I'm glad!"
He set his sword and scythe aside happily, looking forward to seeing what she could do. Those who were arrogant were generally that way for a reason, after all. And he didn't detect any of the posturing amateurs used to stifle their nerves.
"Anything you're willing to teach, I'm happy to learn! I'm not quite used to this place's limitations myself."

As she sat there, she hears her teacher's words, guiding her away from combat and trying to tell her that their people's magic and wisdom was far more important than swords. Using that magic and wisdom, even in this world, ensured that it would live on. By now, after a little over a decade, she doesn't question that push to ensure the old traditions, even if her teacher was, at times, motivated by political reasons, rather than his care for her.
"Then good," She responded smoothly, "The more it's practiced, the less likely it would be forgotten. So what do you know by far in terms of magic?"
no subject
He took his fighting stance before her, smiling.
"I figured we could start with a bit of hand to hand before we bring out the weaponry, if that's all right? If you prefer, I can grab my sword!"
Either way was fine with him. Old man could do both, after all!
he had to think about her question for a bit before responding.
"My mana pool is quite low, but I'm able to use elemental magic against the enemy, depending of course upon the environment. Aside from that I find myself rather limited, although my physical attacks are a bit stronger than can be natural!"
no subject
"If you like," Her gaze drifts to his sword. It's not a blade she's familiar with and knowing how a blade moves and weight makes a difference, "A spear can only hold so well against a sword."
Usually -- she doesn't add that. She adjusts herself, putting her robes aside, leaving nothing more than her casual wear. "I can offer limited advice on elemental magic based on what I know already. If you're looking for a better experience-"
Regina starts to adjust her bandages on her hands, "Combat may be your better option."
no subject
Which was completely untrue. Back home, his reiatsu use and skill had been second to none (aside from a very select few!) and not having the security of it here had taken some getting used to! Still, he was very well trained in combat and more than happy to spar with her.
"If you'd rather, I can use my sword against you, or you can use your spear with me while I'm unarmed. It would be good practice for me, as it's been quite some time since I fought using only my hands against a weapon. But whatever the lady prefers is fine with me!"
no subject
She holds her spear in her left hand rather casually, waiting for him to follow suit. Thankfully, whoever decided to give her a spear, they at least gave her one large enough for her height, "I already know what I'm getting into; I've fought men with swords with a spear many times."
no subject
Shunsui grinned and stood facing her rather casually, sword at the ready but far from held in a battle position. He wanted to see what she could do, first!
The spear she held was rather beautiful, as weapons given by Blanc to its newly arrived Heroes went! It really had been some time since he'd faced a spear in a spar, and he was looking forward to this!
"I'm ready when you are!"

Well...a thing. It was a thing.
Following many other trainee hopefuls to the park and she figured that if she can use any skills in one war to fight another, she should take the opportunity to do so. She did feel a little silly walking around with a large onion in hand, but being self-conscious wasn't going to get here anywhere. She held the leek close to her chest as she walked between the groups, watching people pair off to practice magic or raise swords to one another. It was in watching that something stood out--or rather, someone.
Orihime blinks, does a double take, and then outright stares. He hadn't been one of the Shinigami she spent a lot of time with, but he is a hard person to misplace.
She wasn't just seeing things, right?
"...K-Kyouraku-san?"
Sorry this took so long!
Still, his protective instincts nearly overwhelmed him when he saw her. Her powers were incredible, from what he knew, but she wouldn't have them here.
"Orihime-chan! Yes, it's me, but you needn't stand on formality! Shunsui is perfectly fine! I apologize, I had no idea you'd arrived!
...is that a vegetable?"
He had to grin. While there were all manner of strange weapons bestowed on the new arrivals, this was more than a bit amusing. Whatever was in charge of this place certainly had a sense of humor!
you're perfectly fine!
She didn't hesitate to trot over at his recognition, a surprised but relieved smile on her face. "It really is you! People have been saying that everyone is grabbed from everywhere, but I didn't think I was going to see anyone I actually knew!"
Wait, was he apologizing?
"O-Oh, no, it's alright! I just got here a few days ago and there's so many people here." There was a pause as she looked uneasy for a moment. "I haven't been able to sense anyone's presence since arriving..." Was he having trouble with that too.
"Hm?" She blinked, then looked down at her leek. "Um...Yes! It's my...weapon. Or it's supposed to be. They said it's an ancient relic of the Noir Empire! Heh heh heh..."
oh good since I'm late again, whoops!
He had to smile. This was definitely the girl he knew, although he had never known her well. He was a bit surprised how much that fact comforted him. Not being able to sense her was as much a strange and discomforting thing to him as it was to her...and on that note!
"Ahhh, yes, this place is slightly strange in that none of the powers we have in our homes get to travel with us. I've lost my reiatsu, you see! Therefore, I wasn't able to sense you when you arrived."
The explanation of the leek had him chuckling, genuine laughter for once!
"Hmmm, I'd hope it's not too ancient a relic! Freshness is important, after all! Did they tell you what its powers are?"
you're fine friend, so am i!
Freshness is definitely important for produce. "Well...it doesn't smell like it's spoiled! It must really be magic, in that case."
Imagine the recipes one could make with this! If they didn't want to use it in battle. Which she does, probably.
"They said something about influence over other vegetables, but I'm not really sure what that's supposed to mean. Maybe none of them will spoil?"
<3
He was chuckling, since the idea was so preposterous. But it wasn't exactly out of place in Blanc, either.
"Hmmm, I'm not sure! I haven't dealt with vegetable weapons as yet, but it would make sense that they should last! I doubt they'd assign you something that would spoil before it could be used against the enemy!
And ahhh, yes, I know it sounds ridiculous, but our powers from home disappear upon arrival. We gain different ones native to this place as time goes on, though! It's strange, but it seems to work."
<3!
"I guess so! I'll have to try and see. Maybe it can talk to the other onions and form a united front?"
She's actually not far off. But that's for a later time.
"Was it difficult...? I know that you have so many more abilities than I do."
