what are subject headers even for this is bullshit
Who: Jae-ha and Yata
When: 7/25
Where: Petrosian
What: Chasing mergoat bandits with a hangover
Rating: None?
[ It isn't the throbbing headache that wakes Jae-ha up from his not-so-comfortable sleeping position against the side of a building, but the commotion coming from the streets. Wait a minute, what is he doing sleeping on the streets, and why is his body aching? The realization of where he is quickly sobers him up to semi-full wakefulness, and though it wouldn't be the first time he wakes up in an unknown place along the side of the road, he certainly has no reason to today...
He's not alone, either. Yata's face comes into focus as he realizes he's been sleeping pretty close to his friend (please don't be mad, Asuna, it was the only way to keep warm during the night), and he's having a bit of trouble remembering exactly what transpired last night. His memories are a bit hazy, but what he does remember, makes him chuckle.
If laughing didn't aggravate his headache... ]
Yata-kun. Wake up. [ He lightly shakes the boy by the shoulders, the sound of the commotion getting louder and louder, as whoever is causing the noise draws nearer. ]

Asuna, just five more minutes...
[ But since he's awake enough to say that? Great. Now he has to acknowledge the headache. And the cold, hard ground. And the smells. What is that smell? He blinks blearily at the world, expecting a familiar face by his si— ]

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, YOU PERV!?
[ You can count on Yata to make you feel like a lecherous harem protag.
Startled birds and stray cats fly away. Forget the hangover. He feels like he's been compromised in some way here... ]

What am I doing?! What are you doing?! Why did you let us sleep on the streets, Yata-kun! [ He draws back, alarmed by how negatively Yata reacts, far enough that he almost... falls into the gutter. Where he belongs, tbh. Isn't Jae-ha supposed to be the responsible one here... ? Nah. ]
Please tell me you remember what happened last night. [ Because he does, for the most part, and he's not exactly enthused to break the news if this is enough to make Yata furious. As they're arguing, though, the sounds grow louder and louder. ] ]

Hell if I know! What happened last night? [ It's not rhetorical. Fingers comb through his hair as he tries to recall. The past ten or so hours feel like a blur. ] All I know is I toldja it was my birthday last week, so you said we should celebrate. Fuck, my head hurts...
no subject
We did... celebrate. And mind you, before I tell you what happened, you said it was a great idea! I've never seen you so enthusiastic before, at least not about something other than Asuna-chan...
[ As Jae-ha stalls in his explanation, the commotion reaches them, nearly head-on, and it's a good thing they had created some distance between them, because the first mergoat stampedes right through them, followed by his frantic followers.
... Merchants, civilians, a varied group of people chase after them on foot, shouting "Thieves!" "Bandits!", and when they reach the hungover Heroes, they're not happy to see that both of them are immobile.
"Hey, aren't you two Heroes?! Those freaks took my merchandise!"
"That bandit kidnapped my girlfriend!"
Said girlfriend, currently hanging from the side of a mergoat and crying out for help, is a redhead, btw. ]

When a crowd of Petrosians and tourists approach them, he thinks he knows why. ]
Damn... [ He really doesn't want to do this. Not when the alternative is lying on the street and waiting for an angry mob to lynch him on duty. But, Yata's moral compass never fails to tell him he right thing to do, and when it gives him a direction, he has no choice but to follow. ]
Looks like you're gonna haveta put that story on hold.
[ He pushes off the ground and stumbles a bit, head and limbs heavy from last night's mystery. Yeah, he's in no condition to round up any crooks, but hey. Duty calls. ]
We gotta kick some ass.
no subject
Don't worry, I won't spare any details from you.
[ He zeroes in on the direction they're heading towards. With their flight abilities, they should be able to catch up in no time. In theory. Who knows, with their impaired senses right now. ]
Okay, let's get this over with. [ He leaps, and it's business as usual, but man, he doesn't usually sway this much in mid-air.
He feels nauseous... ]
no subject
WAUGH!
[ He careens into Jae-ha mid-air, hurling them into a nearby apothecary through its rickety roof. ]
Sorry, my bad...

[ And normally he would have likely been able to dodge Yata pummeling right towards him, but right now, he doesn't even have it in him to try. Down they go, hitting the ground with a painful smash (and of course, Jae-ha breaks most of the fall).
He lays there for a moment, just... in pain. ]
Why can't someone else do this?! [ Seriously, why is their luck so shitty? All he wants is a bath and a change of clothes, and maybe a cute girl (Kougyoku) to chat with. He doesn't ask for much in life, really.
Finally, he drags himself back up, ignoring the aches and bruises in his body, and pulling up Yata with him. ]
We can't waste time! Who knows where they are by now... [ Which is why he just... flings Yata over his shoulder and jumps up, through the hole in the roof they just made, following the sounds of the stampede. ]
no subject
He can't even imagine it's Asuna's shoulder he's slung over. Is this revenge for flinging Jae-ha around like a ragdoll?]
I ain't the one who wanted to— ohh, my head... [He holds it as he yells,] Stop running, you damn goats!
[And that yelling, unfortunately, makes his headache even worse.]
no subject
Instead, it's painful and nauseating. He picks up speed once they're in the air, aiming to land one block over, right in front of the stampede... ]
Stop yelling so much! You're not helping... not even a little bit. [ He lands, a few seconds before the goats arrive, and sets Yata down. ]
Okay, so how should we stop them? [ He's still trying to get the hang of his new Knight abilities, unfortunately, so even with their hungover selves, this might be tricky. ]
no subject
[ The bandits are a crowd... And didn't someone back in the Hall say Rooks were crowd control? ]
... Aight, I got it. Jae-ha, I'll need your legs.
no subject
I'm yours to command. [ This might be a mistake. But if it were up to Jae-ha, he wouldn't even bother going after the material goods stolen, just the girl. Who cares if some apples or weird red paintings got stolen? ]
no subject
[ Yata wants to do this fast, too. He has a bone to pick with these thieves! They're doing this bandit business all wrong!! ]
