[It was the least he could do as a Hero. Granted, he did need the money, his wallet gone along with any cash or cards he had. But he still wanted to help. Carrying provisions, he's going around delivering to the safe houses, while noting that this doesn't seem like the richest neighborhood in Lasker. Thankfully, other Heroes have joined in the relief to help the refugees from the recent attack, something he'd only learned about fully not but a week or two ago.
Seeing the aftermath of those who survived added to the reality of the suffering that Noir had caused. And it only served to make him angry.
But for now, he'd help these people. Someone else joins his side, and he hands them a handful of clothes and a backpack that contained plenty of canned foods. Apollo would grab the rest.]
Can you carry these and come with me? I don't think I can carry it all myself.

Still- for now, there are more important things to worry about, namely- helping out all these people displaced by the war that is finally settling in for him- is real, and happening, and he can't keep worrying about the war he has back home when he is here and has to live here somehow.
Jakob would probably lose his mind if he knew he was doing all this on his own, but he'd also know not to hold him back once his mind was set on it. He knows a lot of his other family would think the same, and it's why he doesn't think twice about the act. It's not even for the money, though it helps-
But he has to start making things right as much as he can, and it certainly won't do anything if he sits around pondering what he can do. He pauses in his thoughts though, as he hears the young man next to him speak and he gives him a small nod before gathering up the clothes. ]
No problem. Which safe houses have you gotten to already?
[ He's been talking to a few of the needy as well and it's been breaking his heart- but somehow, at least, he knows there's some comfort in lending an ear as well.
Fortunately for Apollo, he's not shying away from manual labor- he supposes it does double as a workout. ]
I hope we have enough... it'd be terrible if we couldn't get everyone the help they needed...

[Not that he's trying to undercut Corrin's statement, but rather, just making a simple observation. He has the smallest of understandings of what these people are going through, only through defending in the courtroom and seeing the devastation on the faces of the families and friends of the deceased. But being refugees, losing their home and being here in the face of war, that was something he really couldn't truly understand, not now.
The sight of it was more than he bargained for, despite knowing what he was walking into.]
Anyway, I've only been able to visit a few of them so far, on the southern side of The Shield. I'm heading towards ones near the western part now. [He shoulders another pack with more food, before one arm grabs more clothes and the other holds a small bag that have toys for children.]
I'm Apollo, by the way. Apollo Justice.

[ After what he's seen back home- and even without it, it takes a person with far too little a conscience to actually want to inflict this sort of pain on anyone. People like, say, his Nohrian "father" for instance, but for the sake of his siblings- he has to keep fighting on if only to avoid that pain and protect them all.
The young man here, though, he can't help but smile a bit at, and he balances the canned food and the bag of clothes. ]
You're working hard. I'm sure they appreciate it all the same. I'm Corrin, by the way.
[ The man's name reminds him of his sister Elise's retainer back home- Ah, Arthur and his declarations of Justice. Once he's sure their supplies won't kill them on the way with their weight and balance, he begins to walk next to him. ]
Have you been in this world long, Apollo? I only just arrived a short while ago...
[ He's suddenly very grateful to the workouts Xander put him through to be able to carry all this with ease, but he is taking note of Apollo's effort, in case he needs the help. ]

No. I've only been here for a couple of weeks. I think I've hit my excitement quota for the month.
[The party alone was plenty.]
What do you think about all this? About walking into a war and being expected to fight in it?
no subject
At his words though, he does look thoughtful. ]
It isn't much different from back home, really... save the fact that this war has nothing to do with anything I would be fighting for back there.
[ His reply is simple, to the point. ]
The fact that they expect us to give our concern and care for their ways so easily... [ He sighs. ] I'd be cruel if I didn't want to help those obviously in need, but it still makes me wonder why us...
[ And with a glance towards Apollo... ]
... and why people who obviously have never seen battles of the sort in their lives.
[ That is pointed at him, mainly because he can tell Apollo isn't cut out for too much heavywork. And it's why he offers to take more of the bags from him, hand extended. ]
You're not a warrior at all, are you?
no subject
Gods and magic, he supposes. Two elements that are capable of anything and no mere mortal has anything to say about it.]
The only warrior I'm of is a warrior of the courtroom. [That sounded cool. He should write that down for later.] And the only weapon I've ever used is a steak knife.

Pride has no value if you're dead! There's a look of surprise that crosses his features at those words, though he can't help but break into a light chuckle at that admission. Warrior of the courtroom...? Really? ]So... that's how you protect people, is it? It sounds admirable...
[ He smiles, though. ]
I hope that steak knife had nothing to do with your law-upholding, at least, or I'd be pretty worried for the people you're supposed to be looking out for.
[ It's a light tease- the guy seems pretty determined, he can see that much. ]
Where is it that you hail from, then?
no subject
If you mean where I'm from, I work and live in Los Angeles. [But based off of what he's heard already...he doesn't think Corrin is going to know where or what that is.]
I'm so sorry for late late and just handwaving them visiting the rest of the safehouses!
I can't say I've heard of it, but in a place like this, that hardly comes as a surprise.
[ He gives him a smile over his shoulder as they finally come closer to one of their destinations. ]
Any more than you hearing of the lands of Nohr or Hoshido, perhaps?
[ Thankfully, there are other people there helping take the supplies into the safe houses and they immediately come on over to relieve Apollo's load, before coming to help Corrin with his. He pauses to help assist them, taking the time to distribute the supplies and busying himself once they have to. It takes a short while to manage it, but with the help of the people there, it's an easier job until they're done entirely. A breath of relief escaping him, he smiles at their job well done before turning to look at Apollo again. Getting a better look at him now, he can't help but think the young man is... cute in a way. He actually reminds him a little of his friend Silas, from how he's talking... and that thought actually makes his heart hurt in a way he didn't realize he could feel when thinking of him, or Jakob for that matter.
It shows in his expression briefly before he turns to look back at the safehouses as they walk away together. ]
That should be the last of them... are you hungry at all, Apollo? You did everything so diligently, I feel like I must treat you for your effort.
[ And a smile quickly appears on his face, unwilling to burden the young man for any more of his own thoughts than he has to. They've only just met after all... ]
YEAH let's handwave it nps (it's a getting to know each other thread you know how it goes)
[Nohr and Hoshido aren't places he's heard of, and he can only imagine what part of the world they lie in on the planet or alternative universe that Corrin is from. Either way, it's not important now, as he tends to the refugees and helps in whatever way he can. It saddens him, to see so many suffer, and promises he'd help in any way he could.
Little did he know that later on he'd be helping in ways that he never thought he was capable of.
But for now, he accompanies Corrin, finishing their task and heading back.]
It's nothing really. I am pretty hungry, but you don't need to feed me. There's food back at the Hall that I can eat once we get back home.
[He'd feel bad asking Corrin to feed him, he just met him.]
you are too cute to me ( ~ '-')~
It's why he smiles at Apollo's words, finding the man's modesty a bit endearing (and familiar), enough for him to insist. ]
Food that's treated through companionship is a lot more fulfilling, though. Besides, I'd like to get to know the kind young man who put his all into assisting everyone out here today. You don't find that sort of kindness as commonly in a world with war...
[ Which should suggest that he's seen and partaken in his fair share of it. An encouraging smile sent his way, he adds- ]
Of course, unless I'm imposing...
[ And he does look a little guilty there. He just wants some company himself instead of returning to a room where he'll be among literal strangers again and a very sweet-hungry dragon... ]
no subject
No, not at all. I don't think I'm left with much choice in the matter anyway.
[His stomach isn't having it.]
psst we can totally handwave and discuss what happens if needed, life has been so busy!
Then let's get going! You can tell me all about your world, and more about yourself. It definitely sounds nothing like my own for one... and I wouldn't want to be left in the dark if we encountered more companions from where you come from!
[ A cheerful look appears on his face at that. He does like making new friends, especially now that he has the chance to. ]
What do you like eating? We'll go right for it!
