[ OPEN ] There's an albatross around your neck
Who: Yoon (
tsyoon) and YOU!
When: Beginning of July
Where: The Shield, Lasker
What: the adventures of a small tsun trying his best for the refugees... cooking delicious food and dodging marriage proposals. he can't help being beautiful and talented, ok
Rating: G...??
[ The fight is over. What's done is done. And what is lost-- Well. There's nothing he or anyone else can do to change the past or help the dead.
What Yoon can do is try his best for the living. For all his prickly exterior, he's a sympathetic boy; his heart goes out to the refugees, he feels like he understands their pain and -- despite the uniform he wears -- he feels far more connection and camaraderie with them than with the upper crust lauding the Hero's efforts and successes on the other train. It doesn't feel like a time to be accepting gifts from the grateful elite and their families, or congratulations on their efforts despite the losses. It makes him angry.
And so, despite the hostile attitude toward the Heroes right now, Yoon has made his way to The Shield in Lasker to help the people who need it, and to get away from the overwhelming gratitude and congratulations he doesn't feel he deserves. ]

[ Even having expected it, the hostile and resentful atmosphere in Lasker is difficult to deal with. Yoon is wearing civilian clothing to avoid too much obvious notice, but it's not easy to miss the bitter conversations all around, the dark mood bordering on hatred. He can't say he blames them, though.
...of course, that doesn't mean he particularly appreciates it when someone, somehow, recognizes him. Or maybe he's been mistaken for someone else. It doesn't really matter how because now he's trying to dissuade a handful of resentful refugees gathering around him from... he doesn't know what they want to do. Nor does he care to find out. ]
H-hey!
[ Yoon finds himself backed up against the wall, two haggard-looking men looming over him threateningly. They aren't calling him very nice names. ]
Stop that! I'm just a pretty boy passing through! I have food and medicine, see? I have nothing to do with anything else. Just trying to help.
Please back off!
b
[ There's a long line to get into the tent where Yoon has set up his own makeshift kitchen with portable burners and whatever else had been available. It's a very long line. His cooking has proven too delicious and he's in a bit of a bind now, practically lost behind the huge number of pots (and huge pots) around him.
Maybe he conscripted a fellow Hero's help, maybe you volunteered, or maybe you have no idea what's going on-- But he's in need of more onions, stat. And someone to stir the stew over there. And someone else to help cut vegetables. THERE ARE TOO MANY THINGS TO DO, and the people are waiting!! ]
You! Start serving that soup over there! What're you waiting for?
Arrrgh, I don't have enough hands for this!
c
[ Yoon makes himself useful in one of the medical tents, handing out free medicine (he'd bought a lot to bring with him, and now he's glad he did), painkillers and bandages. If someone needs attention, he'll do his best to give it. To avoid notice -- and because he doesn't have much strength yet in the way of real healing spells -- Yoon uses standard methods, dressing wounds and giving advice if it will be taken.
Help him take care of refugees in need of bandaging?
Remind him he needs to take a break for food and water sometimes too?
...or maybe you got banged up somehow too and Yoon has to fuss over a fellow Hero now for some reason?! ]

A
It's only by chance that she catches the scene and stops in her tracks. ]
Excuse me. If you did not hear him correctly, he has supplies to deliver.
[ Now they all turn to her, basically towering over the girl of 5 feet in height. She doesn't look any less determined. They start making fun of her, brushing off that she's merely a little girl, what can she do? They're preoccupied, so Yoon can escape if he wishes. ]
no subject
Well. She does look like a small girl, shorter even than him, and he's pretty small himself. He can't just sneak off. She's also carrying supplies, it seems.
Instead of running away, Yoon clears his throat and gestures at their bags. He has taken the chance to slide away from the wall though, not wanting to get pinned again. ]
We don't want any trouble. We'll just be on our way, [ he declares firmly, hugging his bag to his chest and standing up tall. He's only two inches taller than the girl. They don't look particularly impressive next to each other, probably... ]
no subject
She stays quiet as they just spout toxic insults at them. If she's trying to defend him, she's also at fault. One of the men also spits at their feet. ]
As he says, we are not looking for any trouble--[ One mentions he doesn't feel bad for hitting a girl and takes a swing at her. She's able to evade it and smack the man square on the forehead with the cap of her sword's handle. It distracts him, covering his face and staggering back in pain.
Well... Maybe she shouldn't have done that because now the rest of them are taking out knives. It was only a love tap? Why does this happen to her? ]
Lower your weapons.
[ She ain't scared though, even ordering them around. ]
no subject
Oh, no. ]
O-oi, come on, we're not--
[ He hecked up. Already, Yoon is berating himself for not running away when he'd been given the chance, though he probably would have felt terrible for that too. ARGH. What a pain...
He's still looking for an opening, trying to figure out how he can sneak out of the circle of upset refugees, when they spit at them, and Yoon jumps back with a startled and particularly disdainful gasp. ]
Hey! What the hell?!
[ He doesn't want to strain the relationship here either but. Crap. This is getting out of hand. They're fighting now?! He yelps when one guy throws a punch and ducks, clutching his bag closely. No, no, no. This is not how things are supposed to go. He isn't prepared to handle this (i.e. he's not with any of the people he knows who can fight and protect him?!) and he's trapped now and they have knives.
...then again. His new companion has a sword. But there's only one of her. Yoon scoots closer, a little bit behind her to be out of the way. ]
Do you know what you're doing? [ he whispers. She did kind of provoke them. ]
no subject
Of course. There is no reason to worry. [ She is both an actual King from her own world, a strong heroic spirit summoned to the greatest of magical wars, and... an King rank which isn't as grand. She says that so easily despite all the knives surrounding them. People do die from countless stab wounds eventually.
She doesn't unsheathe her sword though. It would only make matters worse that a Blanc Hero dares attack civilians. Even if they're some unruly ones. They don't seem like they're playing around anymore and run at them with knives pointed out. However, Saber concentrates into one spell. ]
Calm the flames, free the soul--slumber. [ A golden aura envelopes the troublesome group and they suddenly plop onto the floor. It takes only a second longer before they hear a snore. ]
They'll be sleeping for five minutes.
[ Meaning they have five minutes to run and create as much distance as they can. ]
no subject
Good thinking! [ Yoon doesn't waste long on congratulations before bolting, clutching his belongings, but he really is impressed. And grateful. Thanks for saving his butt, random stranger.
Once they get far enough away though, he'll need to stop to catch his breath. Whew. ]
Oh, man... I thought we were about to be toast.
no subject
Is that so? I felt that there was little to worry about.
[ She only seems calm and collected, not at all uneasy. Though she does think it could have gone better... considering she smacked one of them. ]
no subject
[ He groans, brushing his hair back into place and fixing the feather decoration in case something has gotten askew during their dash. ]
That could have been a real troublesome situation to deal with.
Thanks, um--
[ Ah, there was no time to catch her name! Yoon tilts his head questioningly. ]
Miss?
no subject
[ Harsh, but Saber is only speaking the truth. Though she guesses no one needs to be skilled to stab and kill someone. She walks alongside him quietly, merely thinking of when they'll reach the refugees. ]
It is not a problem. You may call me Saber. I'm glad that I wasn't too late--[ Uhm. ] Though I'm sure you would have been able to handle it yourself.
[ She wasn't trying to undermine him in any way. ]
no subject
[ It's a mild comment. He's not too surprised anymore, with people here from all over different worlds. It's a bit mind-boggling, still.
It is nice of her to have faith in him... unfortunately, she really did save his bacon, and that's pretty embarrassing. Yoon blushes, fiddling with his hairclip anxiously. ]
Yeah, I'm sure I would have thought of something.
The help is appreciated though.
Actually, would you mind accompanying me to the soup kitchen? I'm bringing supplies for it, and helping out there. I'm a pretty great cook. [ ...and modest, too... ]
no subject
I would not mind that all. [ She doesn't understand why he mentioned a great cook part.
Is he trying to say he'll cook for her?
Is that too forward and bold to think? ]
I'll accompany you, sir. It seems we were on our way to the same place, either way.
[ Do lead. ]
b.
Are you talking to me?
[ Do you know what kind of kitchen disaster you're talking to? ]
no subject
Sure. You look like you're not doing anything. Make yourself useful.
Grab a ladle, hurry up!
no subject
[ Well he did have a point, she hadn't been doing much up until this point. ]
A ladle?
[ What is this ladle you speak of, Yoon?
No, don't ask, he's already basically yelling. Okay! Ladle! What looked like it could be a ladle? ]
Ahh...
[ ]
no subject
Where are you looking? There's one right there! [ He points, stabbing the air sharply in the direction of the serving utensils sticking out of a holder on Lux's left. ]
There are hungry people waiting. Are you going to help or not?
[ ...what a nice way to ask someone to give you a hand, Yoon. What a charmer. ]
A
Including rescuing hapless heroes from over aggressive men. Caren wades her way in, and there's menace in her aura. Sure, they might not mind picking on little girls, (or boys) but she doesn't mind picking on them either.]
Excuse me gentlemen.
[She lightly presses her hands against the small of their backs, making them stiffen.]
As a priestess, I am most disappointed in your behaviour. Shame be upon you both; you both best take some time to recall the teachings of which you were brought up with.
[She speaks softly, pleasantly, but there's a glitter in her eye that promises violence if they don't back off. The bad kind.]
no subject
[ It's a rhetorical question. Of course she knows. Everyone knows! Naturally, these guys don't realize she is a Hero as well, but a few of them do start backing away when they hear she's a priestess, looking a little ashamed beneath the bitterness and questioning their life choices...
Yoon catches Caren's eye briefly, glances at the men who are no longer focusing entirely on him, and starts trying to scoot away quietly. ]
no subject
[She doesn't back down, but there's that glitter in her eye again, and they flick where Yoon is sneaking away. He's not being noticed; good. This would be so easy to do him harm, and she has no idea what his rank is.]
The gods do. They keep track of the living and the dead. If you must lay blame on something, lay it on the feet of those who did harm. If you wish to blame yourselves for your inabilities, do so.
[She makes a sweeping gesture at both men, motion to keep their gazes upon her, and not Yoon.]
But if you blame heroes, you blame the gods themselves for this ill fortune. Do you truly want to do such a thing, gentle people? They may be given to offence. We've all been raised with the stories, haven't we?
no subject
Whew. ]
no subject
Today is a good day.]
There you are.
[She straightens herself up a bit, and glances at him and his packages. Oh Yoon.]
You're all right?
[She's pretty sure he is. Yoon is tough from what she's seen of him.]
no subject
Yeah, I'm fine. No thanks to those jerks!
[ Not that he doesn't understand why they're upset, but having it aimed at him is... a little frightening, regardless. ]
Thanks for distracting them back there.
no subject
[No really, it was. And that crate...hm.]
They forgot they're in the city of friendship. Speaking of friendly things, I believe you need a pack mule?
[She's not a knight, but...yo.]
no subject
[ Hey, he's not about to argue that he wants to carry all these supplies himself! Thanks, bud. ]
I'm bringing some ingredients and supplies to one of the soup kitchens.
[ He'll divvy up the bags between them, since Caren has so kindly volunteered. ]
no subject
[It's that or get pulled into kitchen duty again. No problem Yoon, she's totally ready to carry her share of the bags and then some.]
I can take more, if you're feeling sore. I'm stronger then I look.
[Thanks to her training and her rank, that is. And he had to run with those so....]
