Do you wanna build a snowma-

[Lupin was a former orphan himself too, albeit never knowing the warmth of an orphanage. Of course he ended up signing for a job to make them smile and relieve the old matron's burden a little.

With the heroes gathered, a kingdom of snowmen are starting to come to life, along with the childrens' smiles. The gentleman thief however would not stop at a typical three snowballs with coal eyes and carrot nose. Not if he could make something a lot better.

But first he's going to need some help, and he approaches with a plan in mind.]

Say you, could you help me out with a little something?

Not quite Donkey Kong

[Of course when there's a distraction, that's where the thieves come in. Chaos is like honey for these cutpurses, but Lupin isn't fond of this type of cloying sweetness.

A few unluckier ones had their hopes dashed with a tripping of their feet, though he attributes it to a lack of skill on their part. Their luck goes to some shop owners who get their money and wares returned with a smile.

The monkeys were more amusing to watch, wonder what brought them here. He was a little nicer to them, letting them off with a spank and a peanut after taking back what wasn't theirs.]

Really now... They're making us professionals look bad.

[After the mess her Carrier caused earlier in that day, she's taken to loitering in a more secluded area of the orphanage, noticeably ~~slacking~~ patting her one snowman she's built into perfection. Obviously, this is the kind of meticulous person you need to help you, Lupin! Not to mention that she recognizes you.]

Oh, it's you! Good afternoon. [She looks him up and down.] I'd say I'd love to help, but, could you tell me what exactly I'll be helping out with first?

Afternoon, madame Tamamo. [Obligatory hat tip.]

These snowmen are nice and all, but I'm thinking of creating something that the children would remember.

[Something more grand, something more fabulous, something that'll look straight from Froz_n

I'm thinking a castle. Would you care to help me out?

[A CASTLE...

Then again, Tamamo doesn't come from a land of splendid European castles with golden spires and mountain-high towers. Castles in Heian Japan, though, are no less impressive, but also significantly more easy to build, especially in the snow.]

Ohoh! And would you be able to build that, Lupin? Something big and life-size? Hmm... life-size does seem rather difficult, so perhaps just a smaller pagoda would fit.

[In other words: you're fucking crazy, and she may or may not be making fun of you. But she'll play along. FOR THE CHILDREN.]

[Castles, palaces, gingerbread houses, they're all fine as long as they can make a snow town for the snow men.]

Not alone, but I've never failed to impress.

[It's not his fault Tamamo's territory creation sucks ass for a caster.]

I see. No wonder you're great at this.

[ Kogitsunemaru hasn't had much luck with the monkeys himself. Hair was pulled and simians were agitated. Still, he acts like none of those ever happened.

He looks at his new comrade with a proud smile on his face. ]

You are a professional monkey, are you not? I could not tell from how you look.

[Wow, way to be rude. It's not just the monkeys' hair that'll be pulled today.]

A professional thief, thank you very much. If you want to see a monkey there's one in the Hall.

[He's just slightly irritated. Slightly. Lupin looks way more handsome than that monkey.]

My apologies.

[ With a bow. ]

( There was no single doubt that what Lupin did was really honorable. Such charitable act of treating those monkeys had been Haruna's MO to take care of them for a while as well. In fact, she didn't even give them a good ol' spank on their buts. She just grabbed the stolen goods from the mischievous primate and followed suit by actually giving them a pat on their head.

So when she coincidentally witnessed what Lupin just did, Haruna felt rather relieved. It kinda feels nice knowing that other people have the same selfless mindset as hers, really. )

Mister Lupin? You're letting them go just like that?

[Someone has to be a bad cop to Haruna's bad cop. Encouraging them to steal is a no-no, unless its stealing from the bad of course. In that case Lupin would gladly teach them himself.]

The monkeys were trained, it wasn't like they were the ones completely at fault. I do want a word with those monkeys, however.

[He's twirling his walking stick as he locks onto a few other non-monkey thieves.]

( She wanted to argue with Lupin about that, but indeed, those monkey had done more harm than necessary. She's perfectly fine with putting them in their place honestly, as long as no brutal torture included. )

Haruna wonders who could've trained those monkeys, though? And what for?

( She's honestly starting to think that this place is perhaps mooore complicated and troublesome than the whole Japanese ocean. )

With enough training they can be made to steal, not to mention they can be harder to catch.

[Stealing monkeys seem less troublesome than abyssals, considering they're less lethal...]

Shall we go teach them a lesson?

( She gives a nod at that, although she doesn't exactly understand a lot about monkeys. Fucking primates, man. How do they work. )

Yeah, we definitely should. We can't have them steal anymore! ( Although... ) But let's not get too overboard with it, shall we?

[FINE. Sigh.]

I'll make sure the monkeys will be treated properly. I can't guarantee that for the more human thieves though, they'll need to be punished differently.

[Give food, preferably fruit, and they'll... continue to steal your shit.]

"Us professionals," is it?

[Kaito's voice is laced with amusement as he watches the monkey Lupin just let free scamper off. having earned plenty of colle both from setting up for the Bloom Festival and busking on the streets for spare change, Kaito wasn't exactly pursuing the crafty primates with much enthusiasm. sure, he'd go after one or two here or there to retrieve the stolen items, but honestly. he was a thief, for crying out loud. not a detective. people usually chased him, not the other way around]

[. . . but even he had to admit, pursuing the monkeys gave him a great excuse to test out the magic accompanying his yo-yo he had discovered just a few days prior. granted, the illusions he had figured out how to cast were very small and short-lived. but all it took was a monkey being distracted by a banana for all of thirty seconds for Kaito to rush in and retrieve his prize]

If you say that loud enough for someone else to hear, they might start to think they've gotta shield their valuables from you, too.

[he pulls up a sharp grin to go along with his teasing statement]

Don't worry, I'm an ally of justice here to fight fire with fire.

[That's a pretty fascinating toy Kaito had there. If only his own walking stick made retrieval that easy.

Lupin replies to Kaito with a similar grin, somehow its almost like looking into a mirror.]

You here to help as well? Or are you going to turn me in?

[Kaito lets out an amused snort and shakes his head]

Turn you in? Why d'you ask? Are you confessing that you've committed a crime already?

[he's kidding, though. and even if Lupin had committed a crime, Kaito certainly wouldn't be the one to turn him in for it. thieve's honor!! . . . not that Lupin was aware of that, yet. and despite his roommate's namesake, the thief secret was one Kaito was still guarding closely against his chest]

Most people assume that whenever I tell them I'm a thief.

[Just thief things. Not that Lupin would think he'd be caught that easily. He's got enough up his sleeves to fool an army.]

What, are you a detective or something?

[. . . WHY!! Kaito has to suppress his instinctive desire to recoil and cringe. he manages to reduce his reaction to a snort and a small roll of his eyes]

Ha! As if. I'm the exact opposite: a magician.

[he lifts a hand from his pocket and waves it and continues, the lightheartedness creeping back into his words]

I'm just picking on you. You don't hafta read too much into it.

[Much better, he can't imagine living with one of those slimy detectives. Especially if their name is Sherlock Holmes.]

I'm not too bothered even if you were one.

But since you're a magician, show me a few more tricks. I can do some magic myself too, it would be bad if I have to upstage you anytime soon.

[Lupin flashes a cheeky grin back.]

[the request gets a quirked eyebrow from Kaito. but never one to deny an audience-- no matter how short notice the request to perform was-- he flicks his wrist and pulls a deck of cards right out of thin air]

You haven't even seen what I can do and you're already talking about upstaging me? Ooooi. Don't be rude.

[he begins to shuffle, the movement of his hands precise and smooth. the sign of someone with looots of experience]

[ Those kids aren't his brothers, indeed... But it's honestly still really nice seeing those children' smiles. Ichigo can't hold his lips from not smiling at such panorama. ]

Hmm? But of course. What is it that you need my help with?

[ Well, this is... almost like a dejavu. Their first encounter was something like this as well. ]

[History repeats itself, but nothing needs to be changed ~~yet~~.]

Greetings. I'm thinking these snowmen would need somewhere to live. Maybe a nice house, or a castle.

[Ichigo would be familiar with what a grand castle looked like, of course.]

[ There're no historical revisionist around, thankfully. Anyway, a slight headtilt. That's... rather ambiguous, Lupin. ]

By that, you mean that we're bringing it back to the hall? Or are we going to create a snowhouse for it?

[That. Lupin gives a snap of his fingers once he mentioned snowhouse.]

Exactly, we're going to build a house. A castle is fine too, not to mention it sounds better.

[If there's one thing common in history, if you're rich and want to show off, build castles.]

A castle, huh? [ Ichigo makes a glance toward the snowman. Indeed, maybe giving it a decorative place would be very good. ] It's a good idea. I think we should do that.

[ Well... He only knows good ol' Japanese castles though. He can't really promise anything. ]

I'm not the best sculptor out there, though. I apologize in advance should my creation failed to meet your expectation, Lord Lupin. [ He... just cannot stop with his -dono prefix, apparently. ]

I'm not the judge here, just someone who wants to make dreams come true for the children.

[For orphans without family, the best thing one could give them is a dream. A little spark for them to light up their future. Lupin knows that from experience, and how warm it felt.]

...still, you don't have to call me Lord. I'm just a humble thief.

[Who disguises himself as nobility more than often.]

[ But would you ask help to a teen who is dressed too casually to even be regarded as nothing but a kid?! Nice's hands are both shoved into the pockets of his pants, out of old habit instead of attempting to look imposing, and is in the process of admiring the snowman he had just finished when he realizes the question is directed at him. ]

Depends. [ His expression is still flat, same as his tone that is too flat for a place filled with laughter. ] My time is limited.

[ Truth to be told, he's just lazy. ]

If that's the case... what would buy enough of your time?

[Lupin would need a lot more effort to get working on a snow town for these snow men.

But if he needs to get it done, he won't fail.]
