[Open] The Mapo Tofu affair
Who: Everyone! If you can smell it, you can find it!
When: 6/8-610
Where: Hall of Glory Parlour in Caissa
What: Caren found out she can make mapo tofu and is sharing with everyone. Heaven help us all.
Rating: So far none but will change when things happen.

THe Halls of Glory smell a little different today. Instead of the usual fare that the others might know from the weekly menu, there's a different scent. Something that may remind heroes of Airy, Ma Jiang dishes, or maybe, more simply, of home.
This was the result of Caren's cooking and some hunting on her part. And the results may be quite appealing. There are pots of rice, still steaming, and various bowls filled with the result known as mapo tofu. Some of them are spicer then others, and she hasn't seen fit to label which are very spicy, and which are quite mild. The only thing she has labelled, with a rim of green around the bowls, are the vegan variations, for those who can't, or do not, eat meat or meat by products.
Consider it a game of spice roulette. Because there are other bowls as well, with crushed cucumber-hot pepper salad, spicy tofu, and something that has spewed spinach and garlicy noodles within. But hey! You may be able to cool off with one of the pots of tea around the place-or with one of the rare tubs of ice cream of various flavors, kept chilled with an icy spell.
The cutlery and bowls are disposable, and there are trashbags to clean up after yourself. She's not going to do it for you!
But hey. Who can say no to free food?

I see he's forgotten everything I showed him during First Bloom.
[ He's not sure if he should be surprised—but needless to say, he's forgotten about that complaint when he ventures to put the spoon into his mouth. It isn't as though he's about to spit it out... probably. He's simply stopped with the bite in his mouth, expression turning thoughtfully. ]

[That sounds like a story and she wants in on it. Because this promises to be entertaining. Even more so if it meant that Levi kicked Gilgamesh's ass. But also...ah. What an interesting expression. She couldn't tell if he was getting ready to get mad, or just was...enjoying the food. Hard to tell. He had a good poker face.]
...and is something wrong?

[ —Really. There was no fanfare to that response at all. The food has a bite to it, but he can't say he minds it. So he takes another spoonful, seemingly decided on this opinion. Anyway. To be honest, he doesn't think the story is very entertaining, but if she wants to know: ]
I wouldn't say I taught him how to cook... but I showed him a couple of techniques.
[ Meaning that, if he had retained it, he should at least know how to handle some things in the kitchen. If only a few specific things. ]

But Levi is offered an amused look.]
He would have remembered, and perhaps he could be useful in the kitchen.
[Maybe. She's not too sure about that.]
But he mistook what I was doing as a personal gift to him. It's a common enough occurrence, as far as he's concerned.

At her comments on Gilgamesh, his expression falls considerably more flat. He reaches into his pocket for a handkerchief which he uses to wipe his mouth. ]
That doesn't surprise me. [ But hey, he didn't ruin her dishes. So good on her for that. Let's move on—to, say, ] Is this something people eat in your world?

Like poison. (Not that she poisoned this, that would be a waste). She takes a moment to suck on her spoon, before taking in a few more bites. If nothing else, she's a steady eater.]
It's one of many. Its origins are far from where I was raised, though not where I was sent. I know a variety of recipes, though not all of them are similar to this.
[She motions to her plate.]
I know a variety, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. Pastas, soups, mild dishes that could be made for many people. Most of them far milder then this.
