(CLOSED) Doing Things

Who: Zelos, Gaius, Kaede
When: After dungeon/before intro-log waves hands
Where: Caissa hills→Lasker
What: Helping the people etc etc things
Rating: Nope

The countryside around Caissa wasn't exactly looking the hottest. Because. You know. Dragons So Zelos has pieced together a little deal to help out. He brings some dragon skeletons up to Lasker. A rich fellow sends some much appreciated ongoing aid to the villages and families devastated by the sudden reemergence of dragons. Fun stuff.

Just. You know. Gotta get these dragon bones to Lasker. Which isn't as easy as it seems considering they're a) an hot commodity and b)the local wildlife So to this end the bones are loaded up into a wagon pulled by idk a liger and a bird pony (both uselessly skittish about DANGER) with Zelos and whoever he scrounged up for escort. Yepyepyep.

((feel free to start top levels for other things if there's a thing you wanna do /o/))

"I already fed you, calm down already!" Kaede tugged the liger's lead gently; it seemed to be rather nervous of fish or things that looked like fish. It arched its back like a startled kitten at some silvery shapes in the water, jostling the cart alarmingly.

Naoki is also not being a very good guard dog, seeing as he's barking at a crab. Kaede did her best to shoo it off with her boot, which just resulted in it pinching the shoe. She didn't feel anything through the leather, but now had a crab attached to her foot. Which also led to a slightly comical scene with a diclonius trying to shake it off without hopping in place too much and scaring the giant cat she was leading any more than it already apparently was.

Situational awareness: only partially successful.

Shows up a month- no, wait, guess it's not as bad as I thought, without Starbucks.

Meanwhile, he was chilling. Bird was fluttering about like an anxious shadow, but she seemed to enjoy the fact that they were out and about. Meanwhile, Gaius was grumping because he recognized that he hadn't packed enough sweets for the trip, but Kaede was good distraction.

"Need help?" The tones of a man who had no inclination to help.

Kaede just scowled, at least initially. Mostly at Gaius.

"Fuck off." Spoiler alert: she's super friendly.

She was idly considering taking Zelos up on that offer when she managed to kick the crab off of her shoe, sending the unfortunate crustacean sailing into the water with a plop.

The water which was very, very occupied.

As a diclonius, Kaede was naturally instantaneously worried about hands. Even if they were currently visible ones.

"-shit! In the water!"

Keeping both skittish creatures from bolting now was difficult, let alone during a fight. Ugh.

The scowl was just water rolling off of his back. The random encounter less so. “Crivens!” He’d have a more vulgar shout but the last few months of undead eroded his sense of fear, but they’re still large toothy and scaled things so they got a shout. It was just crivens.

If challenged in that moment Gaius would be unable to name them for what they were. He grew up in a feudal world and thus had a lack of access to things like the the Discovery Channel or nature documentaries, and he lacked the scholarly inclination to research animals on his own.

So he parsed the scene unfolding as water wyverns propelling themselves out of the water.

This didn’t really change much in the long run, but the more you know.

“Okay, okay-” Blade in hand he-

Wait, right, magic. He had that now. With a sharp snap of the giant fan he sent one of the creatures sailing off into the somewhat distance upon a gust of wind…which did nothing for the other however many water wyverns, but it was a thing.
