[Open] It's getting hot in here
Who: Caren and anyone visiting the hot springs!
When: Post dungeon, could be right after fail/success, could be days after
Where: Hot Springs of course
What: There's a hot springs, so now there's a hot springs episode.
Rating: Could be a p-13 and beyond because some people are only wearing towels in this place.

[Win or fail, everyone needed a reason and a way to relax. With the fall of the towers, there was all sorts of good things to come from it. Some would say it was the birds; and others would say it was the hot springs.
The large, large pools of heated water. Sure, they could be used as a way to get all steamed up (or even steam punk) but after all that hard work, everyone deserves a break!
Bring your swimsuits, your towels, your drinks and snacks-who knows, you should be able to find them in the bazaars, or even on Airy. It's time to soak in the heat!]

What'd I say before? I don't need help getting dates. If I wanted one, I'd just get one on my own! Cute girls always find me charming.
[Kaito says with a harumph (although that last part may be an exaggeration). he folds his arms against the edge of the pool and rests his chin on top of 'em]
What d'you want me to tell you about? The alchemy, our second dungeon run, or-- [come to think of it, he and Zelos had a nice conversation about the Salamanca Temple dungeon all those months ago. . . perhaps it'd be a good idea to compare notes about the Gisela Towers, too]
no subject
[And his tone teasingly says he doubts he will. Still. He tilts his head, glancing back at seemingly nothing in particular. In Tethe'alla... In Tethe'alla he doesn't stay with people very long.
...
Crossing his legs his takes a seat. Which is something considering he's still dressed in his uniform. It's clear he's not here for a soak like everyone else.]
Why don't we start with one thing and go on down through the list. How's the bishop life treating you~?
[He seems really calm, but lemme tell you he's shittin himself on the inside. REAL PEOPLE CONVERSATIONS. Fuck he'd almost fight the dragon again in lieu.]
no subject
Perfectly awesome, actually. But-- uh. If you see some blue blobs of slime wandering around the Hall of Glory, keep in mind that their existence isn't my fault.
[which means that it totally is his fault and he's just trying to disclaim responsibility. typical teenagers!]
no subject
[He says. As if he's going back. HAHAH no. He's got shady shit to do. But it's no good if he takes it easy on Kaito, right??? Kids need expectations! Or at least he feels Kaito does better with them than without, hmm...
But now for the important questions:]
How many things have you exploded and / or set on fire so far.
no subject
[for the most part. if one or two escaped and decided to live in the Hall's empty rooms, then that wasn't his fault]
And why're you assuming I've blown things up or set them on fire?
[idk Kaito maybe because you set your bed on fire that one time??]
no subject
[STARTS TO STAND UP this asshole.]
no subject
[and he immediately attempts to splash Zelos with some of that hot spring water]
I haven't blown up or set anything on fire since the bed incident. [as much as he'd like to gloss that over. sigh!!] The only problem I've really been having is the slime problem, and that's 'cause some of the recipes are pretty particular.
[one small mess up, such as letting a brew sit for ten seconds too long, produced terrible results]
no subject
[Scooting back and raising an arm to block that water. RUDE. Though he was being rude first. Augh...now he's wet. He drags off his sopping jacket revealing...! The red shirt and elbow length gloves beneath, fun stuff. There is the outline of a knife in the glove of the arm that took the brunt of the water, but how many blades Zelos is carrying on top of the sword at his hip and the guns tied to the back of his belt is rather inconsequential at the moment.]
If you're running into trouble you should ask the chef in the cafeteria. Cooking and alchemy aren't that different. And not take it out on my clothes, hunh? [My, my, my... ... Well. It's to be expected.] Anyway. Come find me when you're done. Hm?
no subject
Heh, you're right about cooking. But alchemy and the science of chemistry aren't that different either, although I'm finding alchemy to be a li'l more out-of-the-box.
[with chemistry you could just mix and eat and freeze ingredients as needed. with alchemy you've got to do all sorts of weird rituals. . . like let your potion sit for exactly 31 seconds before adding the wolfsbane. ah well]
Done with the hot springs? [he tilts his head] Why aren't you taking the chance to relax, too? Everyone should seize a free vacation when they get one.
no subject
[Or so he says. And has been saying. For years and years. There's no vacation for Chosens. Or heroes for that matter, but Blanc's heroes deserve it anyway and he's more than willing to foot the bill for their sakes. Grabbing his jacket he stands.]
Just don't turn into a tomato, hmm? Or I might have to try some alchemy on you.
[And no one wants to see that. Waving he'll head off if Kaito doesn't have anything major to add. Lei's people were quick to move in and after some things Tianya said... Of course he has to poke around. He will be most definitely findable sitting on one of the island edges later though, legs dangling as he watches the ground drifting below and maps it out on a piece of paper.]
1/2
[but nope, the question isn't that important, and Zelos is gone before he can finish it. with a grump, Kaito sinks into the water up until his chin]
That guy. . . always acting so mysterious. Tch.
no subject
Recognize any landmarks?
no subject
[Why does he know this piddly shit that wouldn't even be on a regular map? Because that's what he does. LAME. Anywho he motions for Kaito to sit without looking up.]
So. You made it through your second dungeon.
[They should probably have a talk. In fact they're long overdue for it. This is an attempt at a talk. What an
awkwardgr8 start.]no subject
I did.
And so did you. Am I right?
[he pulls up a lopsided smile. an attempt to keep things light, if he can]
no subject
[Indirect ftw. Murder he can do. But probing scars he's never been good at.]
no subject
[then, he shrugs]
. . . the second run was a li'l easier than the first. I had a better idea of what to expect, yeah?
[and a whole new array of skills to work with, too. his ability to scan and pinpoint enemy weaknesses had helped his party out in more than one situation. and he might've had a little bit of fun with the potion mixing portion of the dungeon, too]
Have you noticed a theme with these dungeons? Moura's tale of jealousy and the consequences of same. The legend of the failed union between the dragon and the phoenix. Legends, myths, stories, coming to life and taking form.
[. . .]
I don't understand why they always have to end in-- well. . . [murder!!] Why is that the only way to get rid of them?
no subject
There was a time I had to destroy a book. In the process I had to undo a seal placed on it.
[This is awkward to talk about. Setting aside his paper he leans back on his hands. What's it been? Two years? A little more than that?]
To do it I entered a magical construct, a maze, the Forbidden Anamnesis. It wasn't real, not like the natural world, but everything about it felt just the same. Every one of my senses were fooled. And to undo the seal? I had to kill people. People I knew were dead. People I'd killed myself before ever entering that dungeon. It felt real.
[He glances at Kaito. At the same time one of his hands turns up, showing the gloved palm. He felt it with this very hand. But that didn't make it real.]
They were just magical artifices to protect the seal. As long as they existed the seal continued and as long as the seal continued the book couldn't be destroyed. [He dropped his hand.] I talked to Tianya. He didn't know anything about the dragon attacks that led us here.
no subject
You. . .
[he trails off, shoulders slumping. so many people here came from worlds where things were so different from his own. where killing was an unavoidable necessity. just like it was here, in Blanc, in both the war and in these dungeons.]
. . . sound like you've got a li'l more experience with these types of adventures than I do. Ha.
[he exhales deeply and leans back on his hands]
Is that why, last time, you told me all of my choices count? Both in and outside of a dungeon? Because whether it's real or some kind of illusory construct created by mana, it still feels real in the end?
no subject
[Okay now he's embarrassed. LOOKING AWAY.]
...You're sharper than I give you credit for. Now I sound like an old man. This face is too gorgeous for that. [SO SAD. Can you hear the tears in his voice Kaito. He's seriously distraught. Clearly. BUT-] But yeah. You got it. You're going to have regrets no matter what you do; might as well make the choices you can at least sleep with.
[Which probably says something, but they aren't talking about that. Ugh... He's so bad at this. He can think of what Raine would say. Or Sheena. Lloyd, Kratos, Regal, a dozen other people. But what would Zelos Wilder say?
One night stands and alcohol keep the nightmares moderate.]I can't say I'm exactly an exemplary role model. But if you ever want to talk about it I'm not getting out of your hair any time soon.
[So like... Don't bottle it up into an unsoothable pain.]
no subject
[the offer almost takes Kaito by surprise. almost being the key word here, because it isn't as though he hasn't had deeper conversations with Zelos before. it's just so starkly different than the mischief and teasing he's become accustomed to]
[his mouth twitches into a subtle, lopsided smiled, and he tilts his head back]
Aaaah, well. I'm not really the kinda guy who likes to talk about his feelings much. Too messy, y'know?
[but at the same time. . .]
. . . I felt sorta bad for Tianya though, y'know? Regardless of what the legends say, I don't think he deserved to-- die.
no subject
[Life isn't that simple.]
Sometimes we do have to kill people. Because they can't or won't share this world with others. That's the job of "Heroes". [...] It sounds repulsive, right?
no subject
That isn't the kind of "hero" I want to be.
[he says that firmly and with a whole hell of a lot of conviction. it's. . . naive. he knows it's naive. but for however long he's been here, he hasn't decided that he's ready to give up his ideals just yet]
no subject
[It's...cruel. In a way that only people can be. His gaze lingers on Kaito from the corner of his eyes. He sees that pain. More so he understands it.]
If you're going to make it in this world and not go crazy there's something you should understand: every choice you make is your own and no one can take that away from you. Who you kill. And-- who you spare.
[Reaching into his glove he pulls out, idfk I haven't done my dungeon turn in yet cause...I actually forgot. Oops. But. let's just say it's one of Tianya's scales for now WHATEVS he loves his dramatics okay. Anyway holding it up between two fingers he raises his head to look at Kaito fully.]
It takes an hell of a lot more to be a saviour than it does an hero.
no subject
. . . Blanc may not have ever asked us what we wanted, but I made the decision on how to handle this whole situation way back in the aftermath of Palamede.
And I'm not going back on it now, no matter how difficult a path it might be to walk.
