What: There's a hot springs, so now there's a hot springs episode.
Rating: Could be a p-13 and beyond because some people are only wearing towels in this place.





[Win or fail, everyone needed a reason and a way to relax. With the fall of the towers, there was all sorts of good things to come from it. Some would say it was the birds; and others would say it was the hot springs.

The large, large pools of heated water. Sure, they could be used as a way to get all steamed up (or even steam punk) but after all that hard work, everyone deserves a break!

Bring your swimsuits, your towels, your drinks and snacks-who knows, you should be able to find them in the bazaars, or even on Airy. It's time to soak in the heat!]

[is that the jaws theme (metaphorically) playing in the background as someone or something sneakily swims underneath the water, a trail of bubbles popping up to the surface as he goes. someone here clearly doesn't care much about hot springs etiquette!! especially not as he stealthily approaches his roommate and, at the very last second, emerges out from underneath the water right next to her in a grand splash that probably soaks her to the bone]

-- hey, Maki-san! Fancy seeing you here!

[someone punch him in the face]

[ It's apparently a shark that is not long for this world, sneaking up on a trained killer like Maki.

Except of course, she's a giant baby, and as soon as there's a splash next to her, and the sound of a male's voice she KICKS. Not really all that hard, but enough to send him back if it connects.

She can't punch him because her instinct is to cover her chest with her arm, as if that would hide anything. ]

I-Iyaaah!!! [ And like usual, when startled, this trained killer screams bloody murder. ]

[IT CONNECTS]

[he deserves it]

[and with a strangled yell he flies back and crashes back into the water with an even bigger splash than earlier. as the waves begin to calm down, a few bubbles emerge to the surface from below. and then. . . nothing]

[give him a moment to recover, it's been a while since he's done the slapstick comedy routine]

[ Maki doesn't usually resort to violence, but when she's startled, and naked, she just had to. Nevermind that this is the second time he has seen her naked. Which actually makes this a thousand times worse. Maybe one day he's going to lose his hearing with all the screaming.

And on the edge of the water there's a cat, a panther really, growling low, ready to pounce if she has to, clearly unhappy about someone sneaking up on her owner. ]

K-Kaitou-kun?! [ ..Is he dead? ]

[FORTUNATELY FOR MAKI, it takes a lot more than a kick to the face to keep Kaito down for long. after a few moments of concerning silence, the magician slooowly rises to the surface again, water dripping from his hair]

[he has a comical footprint-shaped red mark on his forehead]

[for her sake, and so he doesn't get kicked again, he turns around so he's facing away from her. it's a small bit of privacy, but hey, it's something!]

That was a pretty good kick.

[ Imagine if she had to give him mouth to mouth?

...Actually he'd probably die because she'd be too embarrassed. So really, this is better. She doesn't feel remotely bad about the mark on his forehead though. ]

You just suddenly appeared, what else would you expect?! Isn't there another hot spring for boys?!

It's mixed bathing! Co-ed!

[he says with a grump as he sinks into the water up to his chin. his back is still facing her]

I-I didn't know that!

[ She would have probably worn more. Or maybe not come at all? Now she just feels embarrassed and defensive, even as she stares holes through the back of his head. ]

I'm used to ryokans!

[carptricks]

This isn't a ryokan!

[he replies with a huff]

. . . don't worry, though. I'm not looking, 'n I didn't peek earlier, either.

[look at him trying to be as polite as he can be about the situation!1 which. . . may not mean much, since leaping out of the water and scaring her certainly wasn't polite at all]

I-I know that! But that doesn't mean we shouldn't treat the springs the same way!

[ Which means to say, she should have exclusive use to the water for as long as she wants, without interruption! And maybe a servant to bring her milk. Not some strange boy (haven't they seen each other enough not to be strangers?) offering his back to her in the water together. ]

I wasn't worrying about that! If you had then Diva would have already pounced on you. [ She would be more embarrassed though if that did happen. She wouldn't feel guilty though. ]

[sloooowly, his gaze flickers towards the prowling guard panther]

I s'pose as far a security systems go, she's a pretty good one.

[is his wry reply. he makes a mental note not to do anything that would warrant panther pouncing. in a fight between Kaito and panther, he would definitely lose]

[ And her golden, predatory eyes stare right back into Kaito's soul, kind of. ]

You're just lucky that we're roommates, so she's had to get used to you being around when I change.

[ Actually, is anyone even lucky in this situation at all? It's not like Maki will ever let him turn around. ]

What are you doing here anyway? [ Ruuuude. ]

[with a breath, he steels himself and slowly wades towards the panther, one hand extended. it's a brave action, considering this animal could take his hand off if she decided she didn't like him, but. . .! perhaps it was a good idea to befriend his roommate's Carrier?]

What d'you think I'm doing here? What is anyone doing at the hot springs other than soaking up some relaxation?

[ That's new. No one's ever thought to actually try to get along with Diva. Which leaves Maki almost stunned. Right up until she realizes that he's moved around her a little, so she has to quickly turn again in the water to cover herself!

Diva for her own part merely regards Kaito suspiciously, not helped by the fact that he is in the water and she isn't. So long as he doesn't get her wet though... ]

And it just so happens that you're here alone, when I was already here?

[ SUSPICIOUS. BUt she relents, for a moment: ]

...Did you get hurt at all, in the dungeon?

[leave it to Kaito to try to make friends with a standoffish panther]

[he would answer Maki's first question, but the second one-- a sincere display of concern-- takes him off guard. he has to resist the urge to glance at her in surprise from over his shoulder, because surely peeking would get him hit. or. . . you know, eaten by a carnivore]

Eh? Oh, ah-- s'nothing too bad. Nothing I can't handle, that's for sure.

[she can hear the confident grin in his voice, even if she can't see it]

Just some scrapes 'n bruises. What about you?

[ Diva doesn't make friends easily at all, but for the moment Kaito's not losing a hand or anything. So that's probably a good thing. ]

So you're saying you did get hurt. Just pretending it didn't happen doesn't make it go away all on it's own! [ Maki sounds clearly annoyed from behind, moving around in the water a little. ]

Why can't boys just admit when they get hurt?! It's so frustrating!

[ Nevermind that from behind, Kaito might feel a little warm... ]

Hey! How's it frustrating? You'd brush off a couple of scrapes and bruises too--

[but before he can finish that thought, the warm light of what he presumes is Maki's healing magic washes over him. he stiffens in surprise, before forcing himself to relax. Kings, man. already casting cure spells on you when you tell them not to]

[not that that's a bad thing, he supposes. though he can't help the small part of him that things she should save her mana for people who were hurt way worse than he was. still, it wouldn't do for him to be ungrateful, would it]

[he sinks back into the water]

But you didn't answer my question. What about you? Were you hurt?

Just sit still.

[ Maki commands, letting her mana flow from her fingertips into the water, spreading around them as a heal spell. It's something she's gotten... well pretty good at, considering how much she denied magic even being real a few months ago.

There were times when she wanted to save her mana more,but she also knew a trick to gaining it back even after using it. Not that she plans on using Kaito for that purpose (way too embarrassing) but it made her a little more willing to heal whenever she could. A good doctor doesn't turn away a patient because they are too tired, no matter how small the injury might be.

As far as that question goes: ]

I-I was fine! I had Peacock with me. [ Wait... ] J-Just don't tell her I said that!

[carptricks]

[as commanded, Kaito sits absolutely still as the water warms and soothes the aching bruises along his arms and back. he'd never admit to it (he was way too prideful), but he's somewhat grateful he doesn't have to go to bed tonight with sore limbs and aching bones]

Who the heck is Peacock?

[he eventually asks, puzzlement lacing his words]

S'kinda hard for me to tell her all of your li'l secrets when I don't even know who she is.

[cutiepanther]

[ Good boy.

Somehow Maki had to know he was covering up injuries. It takes a tsun to know when someone's hiding something because of their pride.

Having to explain Peacock though... ]

She's a young girl, but really a robot who smokes cigars. Extremely obnoxious and rude.

[ Wasn't she just saying nice things about her? ]

D-Don't make it sound like I'm spilling my secrets to you! That's gross!

What kind of sense does that make?! Roommates don't have share everything!

[ And just like that she turns it around on him: ]

[BLUB. that gets him to quiet down, because if there's one thing Kaito doesn't like doing it's spilling his secrets. he grumps]

I can't 'cause I don't have any, that's why. 'Sides! We're talking about you, here.

[cutiepanther]

[ Ohoho, a sore spot there? Maki can't help but push on it, just because he totally would do the same to her! And has! ]

No, now we're talking about you! You have to tell me who you like!

[ Is it even surprising in the least that she'd go there? She is a teenaged girl after all. ]
