Heaven's Feel



[Maybe you've heard, or maybe you haven't, but there's a new business in town. It's plastered everywhere, posted on the side of every building and shouted from the end of every street corner in Caissa. Heaven's Feel, Heaven's Feel, come fly with the angels at Heaven's Feel! Really, who writes something so cheesy? The owner must be a real piece of work, you think, yet there's something enticing about the sound of it...

If you do decide to stop by within the first week of May, you'll find a massive celebration awaiting you: the celebration of opening day! Eager workers wave down anyone who gets close, with offers of wine tasting, sweet treats, and even speed dating. The store's interior bustles with activity as visitors fill out cute little survey cards in hopes of a hook-up. The owner in question can be found mingling in the crowd, bartending, and drawing charcoal caricatures of couples for a nominal fee.

Overall, the atmosphere is one of excitement. Hop right in! There's plenty of room for lounging on the cushy furniture, and plenty of time to find your own hottie.

...or perfectly platonic friend. Look, we're not judging or anything.]

Oh. [ He huffs out a little laugh. ] I'm Bolin! Sorry, I haven't really brought any business. [ It's easy to apologize now that he's feeling a little less fearful, and he figures that he does actually owe one. ] I mostly came to support Adra!

[ And Vietnam now, though he hadn't known she was working here until he'd arrived. She certainly looked like she was made for business at least, the earthbender is pretty impressed by the different air around her now in comparison to when he'd met her on the beach. But that had been a trainwreck of an encounter for all parties involved.

But for now, he's interested in Gilgamesh. ]

You're uh, the King of Heroes, right?

[ Since Gilgamesh hadn't actually mentioned his name in the video, and Bolin doesn't want to risk mispronouncing it based on the snippets he's heard from other patrons. ]

[Gilgamesh's face lights up with recognition upon mention of Adra.]

Ah, yes! You are acquainted with my head chef, I see. He's a very special sort of fellow, so he certainly deserves your support.

[Gilgamesh claps his hands together, and one of his staff comes scurrying over with a plate full of food. It's offered to Bolin as if on a golden platter, and Gilgamesh seems to be encouraging to eat this time. He's extending hospitality in exchange for patching up his shaky first impression.]

Indeed! I am the one called Gilgamesh. I was a great Hero long before I arrived in this world; you might say I'm better off than most.

[As for not bringing any business, Gilgamesh waves it off.]

This is a celebration, and all are invited. You show me respect, and therefore I acknowledge you as welcome.

[sediments]

[ Bolin is suitably impressed; GIlgamesh doesn't even need that charm magic to earn his admiration and attention. ]

Whoa, I guess that's why you're doing so well here?

[ Meanwhile Bolin struggles to master the most basic of magic spells. The fact that he's been promoted to a Queen is certainly going to be a disaster.

And well, if Gilgamesh is offering, Bolin will happily take another pastry, opting for some savoury this time. ]

Well, I definitely think you're going to do well with this place.

[ Who wouldn't want a little romance in their life? ]

[Isn't he cute? He's like some big dopey critter that won't quit stuffing its mouth full of sweets, oh so stupid but you can't help but love it. Granted, Gilgamesh had been stuffing his own mouth full of sweets all day, so perhaps they're distantly related somewhere along said critter family. Either way, Gilgamesh looks quite pleased with himself and what he's accomplished, puffing up proud.]

You should know, Bolin, that I am an extraordinarily lucky King. So fortune will always smile upon me, wherever I go.

[Both true and untrue, given he'd also almost died multiple times during his lucky adventure. But details, details.]

If you stand in my shadow, perhaps you can catch a bit of magnificent light for yourself! Ahahahaha!

[ Gilgamesh certainly is exuberant! Bolin watches the other man with something akin to an uplifted spirit; the other man's confidence inspiring ease in the earthbender as well.

Even if it is a lot of confidence. ]

Stand in your shadow? [ He furrows his brows. ] What is that? Like an apprentice or like paparazzi?

[babbylon]

[Gilgamesh hums aloud, considering both of these prospects. Paparazzi may be a little much, but something like a student...]

I do not take apprentices often, but I could. If they were to demonstrate sufficient spirit.

Well, I've definitely got a lot of spirit!

[ Though Bolin lacks the channeled ambition that his peers have, he's always been exceedingly flexible and willing to try nearly anything, enjoying all manner of trades and experiences without giving a thought to embarrassment.

That said, he's still not entirely sure what Gilgamesh is suggestion, though he is curious. ]

But an apprentice of what? I'm actually not that good at relationship stuff.

[ Referring to Gilgamesh's business. ]

I see, I see...

[Truth be told, much of Gilgamesh's major decisions were made on a whim, or simply because he felt like it. His own rule of Uruk had been privy to much the same volatility, with severe judgments doled out at the drop a hat. Thankfully, Bolin has not incurred his wrath, so this consideration is given for good reasons rather than bad.]

Have you, by chance, achieved a higher rank as of late? I have been branded a Queen, so if you find yourself in similar straits, I may be able to assist.

[May. Gilgamesh tended not to do much of anything for free, even when in higher spirits.]

[sediments]

Oh, yeah! I have. [ It has been a most puzzling change. ] Apparently I'm a Queen now too. It's a little weird, since magic isn't really my thing.

[ He's definitely not the type to stand back and focus on incantations. A melee rank would've been better suited, he thinks. ]

[babbylon]

Wonderful! We'll start tomorrow.

[Wait? Start what? What is going on here, who agreed to this, why is there suddenly an arm around his shoulders, etc.]

[sediments]

[ There are almost literal question marks dancing around Bolin's head right now, but he just grins and goes with it nonetheless. Even if he doesn't really know what he's in for, Gilgamesh seems jolly, so it'll probably be fun!! ]

Of course! You'll be the greatest walking advertisement Heaven's Feel has ever seen!

[ Literal question marks, to be honest. ]

I don't really know what that means. [ He offers, both sincere and serene before his demeanour changes to something more enthusiastic. ] But okay! Sounds fun!

It means I have elected to sponsor you as our official Hero! Besides myself, of course. Though I should mention...

[Intense glowering.]

Should you fail, there will be consequences. Severe ones.

[ The earthbender's brows furrow at the mention of consequences, but he doesn't flinch away from the glowering. Gilgamesh is really dedicated to his business, and that's pretty admirable. He's no more quirky than Varrick, when the inventor got a crazy idea.

Best to just go along. There's no stopping momentum like that. ]

[ Rather placid agreement, punctuated by a fistpump to show his own dedication. ]
