Heaven's Feel

[Maybe you've heard, or maybe you haven't, but there's a new business in town. It's plastered everywhere, posted on the side of every building and shouted from the end of every street corner in Caissa. Heaven's Feel, Heaven's Feel, come fly with the angels at Heaven's Feel! Really, who writes something so cheesy? The owner must be a real piece of work, you think, yet there's something enticing about the sound of it...
If you do decide to stop by within the first week of May, you'll find a massive celebration awaiting you: the celebration of opening day! Eager workers wave down anyone who gets close, with offers of wine tasting, sweet treats, and even speed dating. The store's interior bustles with activity as visitors fill out cute little survey cards in hopes of a hook-up. The owner in question can be found mingling in the crowd, bartending, and drawing charcoal caricatures of couples for a nominal fee.
Overall, the atmosphere is one of excitement. Hop right in! There's plenty of room for lounging on the cushy furniture, and plenty of time to find your own hottie.
...or perfectly platonic friend. Look, we're not judging or anything.]

Really, he should be used to this by now. Setsuna's tender thoughtfulness. His little gifts that meant so much. His compassionate looks, his selfess actions, all of it was what he wished for all along in his people, in his garden. Why couldn't the men of the modern era model themselves after him, after that quiet strength? Nothing about Setsuna could be said to be useless or excessive. He was...
Broken.
Disfigured.
Incapable of loving anyone.
...perfect, with all his imperfections. He was the perfect companion. He had been a weaker soul, he would've betrayed Enkidu in a heartbeat for him. As it was, perhaps there was room for two, or even three, or more—as Setsuna himself taught him, the King did not have to be alone.
And in this, surrounded by people, sitting across from the man who'd sworn his sword to him, Gilgamesh could not feel any further from the loneliness that plagued him all his life. If he had any left to spare, for anyone or anything, Gilgamesh would've been moved to tears.]
What a wonderful gift.
[Gilgamesh winds up just barely muttering it. He runs his hands over the pencils, and Setsuna will have the pleasure of seeing the King at his most vulnerable, at his very sweetest. He smiles until it hurts because Setsuna has also taught him sometimes it's those little looks that mean so much more than words he does not have.]

[ Because Gilgamesh owns them now, which is what truly makes it valuable. Setsuna knows that those pencils, each and every part of those awaiting colors, will be undoubtedly used to create more and more beautiful things. With not only the King's talented hands, but also his suppressed heart. Setsuna understands that Gilgamesh too, no matter how expressive he is, still holds emotions that can never be said out loud. Though perhaps, even in a hidden stroke through his creations... He'll finally be able to express everything that he can never manage to by words.
Setsuna returns a smile, softly but equally meaningful. His eyes never leave his King's face, paying attention to every little movement and change. He's said it a few days ago back at Graupera, so he doesn't need to say it again; after all, words lose meaning if they're constantly repeated. He's confident that this precious person has long understood him... He knows that for sure, and today solidifies it further. The young Meister inches closer to the uncharacteristically defenseless King, carefully cupping his face. Staying still just like that, in wordless repose, he begins to soothingly caress those cheeks of his — nothing but the purest purpose against those fingertips. ]

I like it very much when you touch me.
[And Gilgamesh will let Setsuna piece together the rest. He could not reach the man through the most intimate means, yet still he seems to understand this piece of it. He's so gentle he wants to weep. He misses his brother so much, and Setsuna is so much like him that day by day it becomes harder to tell the difference. But Gilgamesh will never call him friend, and in so doing, shall forever keep his promise.
With that, Gilgamesh picks up a pencil—a bold red—and begins to draw.
At first, he thinks of nothing in particular. He draws a rose, then two, with a backdrop of snow. Violets, next, in a patch of vivid grass. Tulips, and daisies, and even more exotic varieties, littered about the page. Branching around in beautiful circles. However, he seems to save space in the middle, not touching it for the majority of the time.
Setsuna deserves to be in the picture too, of course. He draws him in the corner, with palms stretched outward, the flower from their shared memory held in his grasp. He wears no expression, because he needs none. Gilgamesh contemplates drawing himself but decides it would dominate the scenery too much, all that gold. He continues sketching, continues filling out the edges, and only when every space is filled does he return to the middle.
And in the middle, Gilgamesh draws the desert lily. He spends the most effort on this, doing his utmost to capture the breathtaking sight Setsuna remembers. He uses the lily on the box as a reference, but makes it bigger, makes it bolder, with petals unfurling as if to leap off the page. In the end, it all comes together, with the lily exploding forth and the colorful assortments of flowers behind it. When he finally puts the last pencil down, he's managed to use every single one in the case to full effect.
Gilgamesh carefully tears the drawing free from the pad and slides it over to Setsuna. He takes his hand, and brings it to his own lips, skimming across his knuckles with a kiss to each, telling him in their shared tongue I like you very much, too. He looks so happy, and Setsuna is to blame for all of it.]

Setsuna's hands almost trembled, but he keeps himself strong. Eventually, he slowly lowers his fingertips away from those cheeks and settles them on one side of Gilgamesh's arm instead. He remains where he is, lowering his head faintly as he observes the blank paper slowly come to life. It's as if he's witnessing a planet being born in front of him. It's a mysterious sight to behold, and so he never once looked elsewhere during the moment. He wants to witness this properly and appreciate every second, wanting to commit it to memory. His heart clenches more tightly after seeing himself in the picture, the irony once again washing over him. A machine of war such as him, to be understood and called beautiful... Why, he wonders, why that is.
But Setsuna will not question it more than that. Because he knows, all he has to keep in mind is Gilgamesh's feelings. It doesn't matter what his reasons are. The fact won't change that he is loved. As the Meister's hand is taken by the King, this time he couldn't remain unshaken especially after hearing the last set of words just for him to hear — treasured words in a language they both hold close. But he keeps all that away to himself. Instead, he closes his eyes; he wraps the King's hand within two of his, and lowers himself to return the gesture even just once. Just one kiss, but isn't worth any less. The sight itself is no different from a Knight pledging an oath. ]

Gilgamesh scoots his chair closer and draws Setsuna's head to rest upon his shoulder comfortably. To anyone looking on, they just appeared a contented couple. And maybe there were, in a sense. A King and his knight. He remembers his conversation with Vietnam, asking her if this was the wrong path. If he should've committed himself to loneliness instead, he's always been and assumed he'd always be.
But having gotten a taste of this, a taste of what it was like to live life with others in it, he's not sure he can go back.]
Would you like to help tend the flowers here, Setsuna?
[It's a spur of the moment offering, something he'd just thought of. But it seem right up his alley.]

Setsuna certainly feels blessed with everyone being so supportive of him and his personal quest. This is more than what he could ever ask for. When he first came to this world, he already quickly decided how to face the situation that he found himself in without lingering turmoil. Apart from being trained to adjust to extreme circumstances, it is also because he came to a realization; an important epiphany that he could use this chance to discover more about others — those beyond his own world. He could witness the lives here; to know Noir, to know Blanc, and to know his fellow Heroes. Alongside these and more, he intends to do everything he can without wasting a single second. Everyday is precious, as time won't always be kind.
That's why... Peaceful moments such as these, Setsuna will always regard with all of his respect and heart. He keeps his eyes closed for a while longer, until the unexpected question comes to him and they once again widen. How can he deny it? He wants to. ... He's been told that it's all right to be selfish, not just by one person, but many of those who he learned to care for. And so, he will. He nods against that shoulder, maybe sinking faintly more against it as well. Flowers hold so much meaning for him, because they've always been a source of strength of his ever since he could remember. He can never turn his back away from them. ]
King...
[ Eventually, Setsuna sits up again. Looking down their respective laps, he offers a more determined nod to signify that he'll take the role seriously. It'll help the shop too, so he's quite happy for that as well. Being selfish doesn't necessarily have to be a completely bad thing. Though, he still wants to be respectful as possible. That's how much he treasures his connections to people. ]

But in Enprise, the fates had been altered. His fortunes had changed, and so brought the two together. Bit by bit, little by little, Gilgamesh learned a different way, while retaining the core of himself. To this day, he'd never quite know why saving just one flower in the snow was so important. Why just one life mattered so much. Even so, it would not be an exaggeration to claim he has fallen for this man beside him, and though his affections will not be returned, they don't have to be. This is enough.
It is enough that Setsuna calls him King, and he calls Setsuna knight, and that they are together. So he squeezes his hand, and says to him:]
You are a very strange companion, Setsuna, like none I would ever think to have. But whatever you are, and are not...
[You are mine.]
I would always be happy to share this space with you.

Setsuna is honored to serve a purpose. Although he's always regarded himself as an object, the people that love him always try to convince him otherwise. They all want him to be happy too, but he has always been satisfied with the role that he's received. Fighting for a better future, where children wouldn't have to live through what he did... A future where others can choose to create their own, where none will fall prey to the abomination of a bloody, senseless war. If he could bring humanity closer to it, then he knows that he's done something that matters — that his fights doesn't always simply end in trampling lives under his feet. Indeed, he would have done everything just to cut through the future. It didn't matter who or what was in his way. He will fight without hesitation, because it's the only thing that he can ever do.
"A strange companion." Setsuna couldn't deny it, he knows that well. He of all people would know that he's strange and out of place — incredibly so, that he still doesn't feel like he should be in here either. He truly doesn't suit this shop; but because of the feelings of one person, he became significant. He returns a squeeze to that warm hand, his distant eyes remaining with a familiar shine. Even if he's so far above the sky, it's such emotions which reach out for him, anchor him to the earth. But... ]
I am here to fulfill what I believe in. And, in doing so, I will also...
[ It goes unsaid, because he already told the King of it before. His words on a rainy day, right before that field of flowers... He will undoubtedly help this person continue finding happiness; and as he does, he hopes to realize its true definition.
"I hope that one day, you'll realize your own happiness."
This life that he's protected up to this point and on, doesn't want that life to wilt away like a forgotten flower. No, as much as his strength will allow it, he wants to secure a future for each and every life that he protects... ]
