[ semi-open ] and sometimes we sing to the dawn
Who: Lord Light, a couple of people (closed threads in toplevels within), and you.
When: April 12-15, thereabouts
Where: Around Capablanca
What: A useless old man ponders the meaning of his existence. And also builds some things on the side.
Rating: PG+ for Adra's mouth

one;
[ Contrary to first impressions, there is indeed peace and quiet to be found in Capablanca. As one walks along the beaches further and away from the town center, the number of establishments dwindle one by one - until the last ice-cream parlour marks the end of built shoreline. The stretch of untouched sand may be quite small compared to the rest of the beach, but it's still sizeable. Sizeable enough to provide a place of relative silence for Heroes to meditate properly.
It is here, upon the sand, that he draws. Detailed, complex images are sketched into the beachside, a little away from the shoreline so that they would be untouched at low tide. It takes him hours to complete a single drawing, but he doesn't complain a single bit - merely one figure with white hair bent down close to the ground with a single branch in his hand.
At night, high tide washes them away, but he returns for at least an hour every day to add one or two. At other times he builds perfectly regular rings out of shells and other materials lying around, all without a single word. A few locals come to watch, but even then their curiosity wears out as he continues, focused on his task.
If anything, the art is pretty. But what could they mean? ]
two;
[ On an afternoon when the sun is not as harsh, he climbs Ventoso Hill alone. Once he's reached the top, he elects to stand and watch the scenery - he's so still that he might have been mistaken for a statue, if not for the fact that his hair moves and flutters in an opportune breeze.
After a while, he shifts his stance to one more regal, and he begins to sing with a voice much younger than his speaking intonation. When he finishes, there's the slightest hint of a smile on his expression - but it will fade away as soon as he is approached, returning to his normal calmness.
His voice resumes its usual pitch, too. ]
Can I help you with anything?
three;
[ In the mornings, he can be found near the piers - or more specifically, where the seabirds frequent. He might be seated on the jetty or walking along the beach with a small bag of breadcrumbs, and after a while seagulls will start to flock to his location. He feeds them with a rather distant expression (more distant than usual, that is), letting them land on his shoulders and arms.
However, if you express interest in what he's doing, he'll look up with a much more focused countenance. ]
Hello. Would you like to feed them as well?
wildcard;
[ hit me with anything and I'll roll with it! or if you'd like a specific starter, feel free to pm me or contact me ateonflamewing, we'll work something out! ]

I know this now. You speak the truth, that which I will acclimatize.. [ The gaze is returned in full, his own grey eyes lucid and calm in contrast. ] I still have much that I can learn, and I will learn.
[ He speaks so little, because there is nothing else to say other than repeating known fact again. ]
Thank you, for your words.

With a nod, Tieria steps back and regards the deity once more, still glad that he's whole again. He's not going to keep nagging Lord Light since the diety obviously understood it the first time. But he can definitely cares for him all the same. ]
I'm glad you're well again. [ There's a faint smile on his face as he speaks, ] Can you only use the stasis on yourself?
no subject
If anything, Tieria's smile tells him all that he needs to know. ]
Yes, that is correct. It is a feature unique to myself.
[ He cannot use it on anyone else, basically. But he hasn't had to use it at all since he was summoned. ]
no subject
It will be best if you don't have to use it again.
[ The deity will have to learn how to exercise caution and prioritize safety in manner foreign to his origin but Tieria is sure that someone sensible like Lord Light will be able to do so.
There's something else that he's curious about. ]
You said those were your drawings? What are they supposed to be?
no subject
They are blueprints. I made them while still in my own world. I drew them as an exercise of memory.
[ But since this is Tieria, he feels compelled to say more: ]
These were plans for a project, to build vehicles capable of traveling into space. They were not realized due to external circumstances, however.
no subject
To need such a device, is spaceships technology unavailable where you're from?
[ To be honest, he thought it looks more like an inter-dimensional travel device. ]
no subject
Yes. My people built planes, but we could never leave our disc completely. To leave and find a new home, it could have been a very real and pressing need.
[ It's complicated, having some countries who could build planes and others who ditched technology just to ride flying mounts. ]
no subject
You said disc, are you referring to the structure of your home planet or something else entirely? It sounds as if your world is---
[ He's about to elaborate but stops suddenly, realizing that he might have oversteps his boundary. It's not Lord Light's but rather his own, because this is a line of question he wouldn't answer if directed to himself. ]
Nevermind, I'm intruding. Disregard my question.
no subject
Yes. My world is a disc, it is flat. I am aware that there are spherical bodies such as moons and suns, called 'planets'. Orbis Eden does not conform to that shape.
[ He's willing to tell this to Tieria, because the man has earned a good amount of his respect. ]
no subject
But not now. Right now, he has a conversation to hold. ]
Moons are natural satellites while suns are stars. These celestial bodies are not planets and while most stars are, moons do not necessarily formed into spherical shape.
[ He corrects, his tone completely natural and in no way suggests anything more than just conveying information. ]
The law of nature in your world must be interesting.
no subject
I see. Thank you for the correction. [ Filing that away as new knowledge now... ] If you refer to gravity and such, I believe it is similar to this world. However, the seas remain at a constant level through an as of yet unknown mechanism. I considered studying it, but there was too little time.
[ Addressing neatly the problem of water falling off the edge, of course. ]
It is possible to venture beyond the edge into the Void, but no living human nor spirit has ever returned. Entire nations have Fallen, and are never heard of again.
no subject
The people in my world used to think that the world was flat too, until naval exploration and scientist discovered otherwise. But I don't think the situation is similar to yours.
Are there moons in your world? [ Because from the way Lord Light has referred to them earlier, it doesn't seem like there's any.
This conversation also makes him wonders why a deity doesn't know how the law of the world he has dominion over. Is what he knows about deities or gods misconducted by the believes of humans? ]
no subject
There were two. One was named the Blue Moon, the other the White Moon. [ Names pronounced in his native tongue, again. ] They are mostly spherical, and orbit the disc, traveling over through to its underside. My nation has not had the technology to enable humans to visit it, however. It is under the jurisdiction of another country.
[ The land of Isaz to the very north, one of the two places upon the Disc that was closest to the path of the moons. The other was within the vast oceans, and thus had no permanent population. Isaz claimed dominion over the moons and guarded them jealously. ]
no subject
It makes no sense for the ocean level to be the way you describe if you have two moons in the orbit. Is magic present in your world too?
[ That or Orbis Eden is simply made utilizing a completely different set of laws, therefore incomprehensible to him. ]
no subject
[ Yes, magic warps physics. ]
Different cultures have different ways to manipulate it. However, my nation did not have a native method. Thus we relied on technology.
no subject
[ He's honestly intrigued by what makes Lord Light and his people to try building a space travel machine without any means of sustaining the population migration into space. ]
no subject
It was a project in development. Had we had more time, it would be actualized. Doing such things required a synergy of many different types of magic and technology. There would have been diplomacy and exchange with other nations involved.
[ The prospect of war took any hope of it away fromt hem. ]
no subject
You speak as if your world no longer exist... [ pause ] was it too late?
[ Although he doesn't always immediately address something amiss if it's not of critical nature, he does pay attention to how information are delivered. Sometimes, he merely delays it to find out more ( much like he just did ) but since their conversation has reached a certain conclusion, then it's time to clarify it. ]
no subject
It is. My world is no more.
[ It did not crumble as much as being wiped out entirely. Not a single rock remained. ]
Are you surprised?
no subject
Yes.
[ Tieria couldn't imagine how he would feel if Earth is no more but one thing he knows for sure is that he would never be this calm. It would hurt to lose the place that he fought so hard to save, to preserve and to protect. Without Earth, what purpose would he serve? ]
It was an unavoidable outcome, wasn't it?
no subject
All things must come to an end. People, nations, even entire worlds. Even a god cannot change that.
[ The least of all him, the weakest of all the chief deities on his homeworld. What goes through Tieria's mind right now, about the lack of a purpose - it's something he's struggling with at this very moment . ]
Would you rather leave something with terminal illness to live till its last breath, or euthanize it to prevent prolonged suffering? Fate chose the latter. It was a plan that only came to light with my Sight. Agents from across the disc, acting of their own accord, brought togethet a chain of events that erased my world.
no subject
Could the machine be completed and the diplomacy missions be carried out so that the plan to migrates your people away be done if measures was taken to stop the agents? I don't know how much time you had, but if there's hope, I will never abandon my world to it's demise without doing all I can.
no subject
It could be, if our disc had not erupted into war. One nation sought to conquer its remaining piece for itself, the other was embroiled in political upheaval. A butterfly's wingbeats can inadvertently cause a storm. Small mishaps, disagreements can multiply. And so it did, until a cascade brought about escalating tensions.
[ There is a pause, and here he looks almost regretful. ]
I wished only peace for my people. We had to take up arms against an invasion force that derived strength from killing. There was simply no time.
