Nozomi taught him to be a gourmet, right? Right. Ignoring the whole scamming people to be part of his cult thing. The guy did know where to get some good food. That's a good enough reason to max a social link.
He's met some interesting people thus far, but he really thinks he lucked out in regards to his roommates. They aren't terribly excitable or jumpy, which makes it a nice, quiet place to be. So when he sees Shinya wave him over, he does alter his course. Hands in his pockets, his own carrier riding on his shoulder more like a parrot than a cat, he offers his roommate a nod in greeting. ]
Hey.
[ He'll take the nickname. Honorifics aren't something that's matter much to him in regards to what he's referred to. He generally stays respectful of other people, though. (Especially girls, he's seen how quickly that can go downhill if you're too familiar.) ]
They're okay. [ A very exuberant answer, clearly. ] Lots of food. How about you, Shinya-san?

I'm enjoying the show, but wishing I had taken on a few more jobs. Feeding Byakko is proving to be a bit expensive.
[ Which, as if right on cue, Byakko looks up from his plate, looking up at the kitten curiously. He doesn't seem malicious, just inquisitive. ]

He's a big boy.
[ Minato offers one of his rare smiles to the tiger.
"Melon Bread" makes a light chirping noise that seems a little out of place for a cat. But her attention is down on the food. What is that he's got there? ]
I think some of the food they give us in the dining hall is supposed to be pet food.
[ Which is more an unwarranted appraisal of some of the meals they've had more than actually believing it to be true. ]
sorry this is so late...
Byakko looks up curiously and pauses his eating, not yet aware of MB's presence, but when he leans forward and sniffs the cat's head, he pushes the edge of the bowl closer to it. He's been around Minato and Melon Bread enough to know that they were family. Or, at the very least, beings close to Shinya, and therefore deserving of a share of the kill.
Not that... Byakko had to hunt anything down. This was from a local shop.
Once he's set down MB, Shinya chuckles at Minato's comment, shaking his head. ]
I don't think that's true. If it were, Byakko wouldn't be such a picky eater and would actually stomach the cafeteria food better. As things stands, he's going to suck my wallet dry.
[ He has refined tastes... ]
we forgive you senpai
Once she's placed in front of the bowl, she doesn't hesitate to sniff, but unlike Minato, she's decidedly more conscientious of the food chain. It's only when Byakko nudges the bowl forward that she eats. Melon Bread crouches down next to it, wrapping her tail around herself as she closes her eyes and makes a small, chirping noise. Thank you, big kitty.
Minato just kind of watches the exchange with what might actually be a faint smile. Cats are cute. ]
You've been buying him food?
[ Oh, is he supposed to do the same? He supposes that makes sense, although Melon Bread has pretty much just been getting a bit of whatever Minato has been eating. He wonders... ]
...Does that mean there's food we're not supposed to feed them?

Truthfully, Shinya's pleasantly surprised that Byakko so readily lets her join in. The big cat is (both like and unlike him, in a way) rather aloof or downright disinterested in others thus far, so this is a rare but adorable sight. His own smile is a bit more obvious than Minato's, growing even wider when he catches that rare glimpse of happiness on Minato's face.
He shrugs, looking a little guilty. ]
I'm not sure. But the very first day, Byakko wouldn't stop staring wistfully at some kebabs from a street vendor, and he's just too cute, how could I deny him?
[ Whatever Byakko wanted, pretty much, Byakko got, as long as Shinya was able to somehow rummage up the colle. It's not like they had many expenses here anyway, or as if money here was any good back home.
He puts his finger to his chin thoughtfully. ] I imagine they can eat anything cats back home can eat, no?

Mmm, but he can't blame Byakko for that. There is some pretty tasty food around town, especially if you know where to look. ]
He does have a face that's hard to say "no" to...
[ No judging, as per usual.
To Shinya's question, he nods, leaning back just a little after he rolls his shoulders. It's been a long day, or at least it feels that way. The air is crisp but the sun is out and it warms the top of his head. Feels nice. Good napping weather, really. ]
At least, yeah. I haven't seen canned cat food, though. Maybe they don't make it here.

[ Whether or not it was sarcasm on Minato's part, Shinya totally agrees. Nevermind that to anyone sane, the tiger looks terrifying rather than cute. Though he's doing a pretty good job of being cute right now, sitting back and letting Melon Bread eat the rest of the food on her side. ]
If you have any tips on how to get Byakko to stomach the cafeteria food, I've love to hear them sometime. Or cat tips in general, really. I've never had a real pet before.
[ Growing up Hiiragi meant that he'd missed out on a lot of normal childhood experiences, to say the least. He watches Minato lean back and relax. ]
Long day?

Minato exhales through his nose. Tips? He's never had a pet before, either. Koromaru doesn't exactly count. He's a member of the team. (That and he mostly just took Koro out on walks.) ]
Mm... [ A quiet hum, that sometimes take place for actual answers from him. ] I used to feed a cat in an alley. But that's about as close as it gets.
[ That, and Elizabeth told him to do it. He'd felt bad for the cat before, regardless.
Another quiet huff as he shifts his gaze to look at Shinya. ]
I guess I'm just kind of tired.
[ But he's always kind of tired. ]
