Obligatory Beach Episode (the actual beach part)
Who: Everyone at the beach (and Vietnam)
When: First few days of April?
Where: Capablanca: Beach
What: In order to complete a few jobs set in Capablanca, a volleyball match and a beach bbq happened (at different times). As usual, everyone can end up joining for no goddamn reason (other than money maybe).
Rating: PG is always the safe option.
NOTE This is also a mingle log, so just tag around in the sub-headers set up!
VOLLEYBALL
[In order to complete this job and win the trust of the merfolk, a beach volleyball session has been organised. What are they going to do? It has been suggested that they play on the shallows, stick up a net and then hit balls back and forth to the merfolk. Seems easy enough...right?
WRONG. Beach Volleyball is super intense. Start planning your strategies, because you could be unfortunate in that your mermaid friends are actually professional underwater volleyballers. Which is probably like Blitzball or something.]
BEACH BBQ
[One of the best ways to learn about each other and also WIN THE TRUST of local populace is to hold a random Beach Barbeque. Who knows where Vietnam managed to amass all these ingredients for the barbeque (trade secret) but everyone can help cook! If they know how. Alternatively, all barbeques need people to EAT so come judge the food. And talk and make merry.
There is word going around that someone left a whole case of alcohol for mixing. Who on earth brought that?! (And left a convenient list of drinks and how to mix them). We'll blame the proprietor of a bar who wants more publicity.]

During downtime, when Asuna finally relents to letting someone else use the grill for a while, she looks for familiar faces by wandering around. The truth is, she's not a huge fan of crowds.
When she sees Vietnam during a perfect opportunity, she quickly makes her way through the sand and taps her shoulder. There's probably charcoal on her cheek or something. ]
no subject
But here they are, having to avoid a crowd just to have some time to breathe. Feeling the tap on her shoulder, she turns around and spots Asuna--]
Hello, Asuna--...[Ah, there's a bit of charcoal there, so she picks up a towel--] Just a little bit, on your cheek.
no subject
Eh? Oh.
[ That comes out instead. Embarrassing... and she even rubs the wrong cheek with the towel. ]
Did I get it?
no subject
Same place, but other side!
[She gestures around the general area of the mark.]
Do not worry too much about it, it was very faint. [Mostly. The sun might shine upon it to highlight it BUT YOU KNOW.]
no subject
She's embarrassed still, rubbing at the other red cheek a little more roughly to get it off. This time, everything goes as planned. Her face is clean.
At least Vietnam didn't lick her finger and rub her cheek like a mom would do. Or clean her face for her... like Yata... actually she wouldn't mind if Vietnam did it. ]
I was cooking, but I had no idea it was so messy. [ There is more charcoal on her uniform but THERE'S NOT MUCH SHE CAN DO WITH THAT ]
no subject
Aw, that was cute, and now she's clean! Had she missed, Vietnam really would've went for it. She's got a lot more tact than Yata, but she wouldn't leave a girl hanging.] Much better.
Cooking is definitely hard to master at first. As in to keep clean. But I suppose the messiness is sometimes part of the charm.
[It's proof that she worked hard!] Your uniform is messy too, do you have a spare for later?
drapes self over amy
Vietnam please go for it. But everyone has more tact than Yata. Asuna can't help blushing, but she was cool about it. She didn't make fun of her. She still isn't, even if her uniform is messy too WHY. COOKING IS SO MESSY. Help. ]
Eh?! [ Now she's rubbing at the black spots on her white uniform but they're not coming out with just a towel. No surprise. ] No, I... I didn't think I needed a spare. I wanted to travel light.
[ MOM HELP ]
HOLDS MEL FOREVER
Asuna, since everyone has to start somewhere? She can feel her pain. She wasn't an expert in the beginning either, she had to be guided by many experts.
Meanwhile...] Oh! Then why don't we go find something for you to wear temporarily? It can be put away and washed later.
[Whose good idea was it to make it white! BLANC. DON'T WORRY ASUNA, SHE'S HERE NOW.]
WE FOUND LOVE RIGHT WHERE WE ARE
WAS THAT A PUN AMY AAAAA ]
Wh... isn't that too much? If it's only going to be temporary...
[ She's probably one of the only people here in a uniform. She noticed, sure, but she wasn't going to swim or anything. She's just here to cook.
She wasn't watching anybody play volleyball either. Nope. ]
THE BEST KIND OF LOVE!!!
AND MAYBE IT WAS.]
No, it is fine. Besides, we are on a beach. It is fine for us to wear something other than our uniforms.
[Because they'll ruin them. And Asuna...you want to join in, don't you.]
There should be a shop nearby!
no subject
She has a point. Although she didn't necessarily come here to party hard, she eventually found herself involved of the festivities. And kind of standing out, honestly. She plucks at her collar and skirt, suddenly self-conscious.
And yes she does but only to learn to cook!!! That's a lie. She doesn't want to be left out, deep down. Even if she's not a big fan of crowds and big parties. Who's playing volleyball ]
That's true...
[ That's why she's actually not completely against looking for something "temporary" to wear in place of her uniform. ]
A shop? What kind of shop? [ JUST GO THERE ]
no subject
Exactly, to gain the trust of the people, sometimes one just has to...well, dress for the occasion, really.
Even if you're going to sit around away from the actual people you were meant to entertain. They got time.]
A clothing shop. [She's not wrong, as she leads Asuna towards said shop (WHOA). Because it's multipurpose. Bikinis AND beach wear.]
no subject
Whether gaining the trust of the people or not just standing out like a nerd in a dirty coat, Asuna could use Viet's help. Asuna jogs to catch up and walks beside her, looking ahead when she mentions a shop. Clothing shop, no duh. She puffs out a cheek but doesn't say anything. It's bad to backtalk your mom.
She meant what kind of clothes. Capablanca's fashion was a little more beachy than anything in Caissa. For good reason. But she thinks she understands what the goal is here. ]
Is it where you got your swimsuit? It's cute.
no subject
Vietnam is a pro...at being someone who nervously treks through public relations. It's definitely a skill that she developed because of her situation, so don't worry, Asuna, you're in good hands! Also she's so cute?! Stop?!]
I did get my swimsuit there. [She suddenly looks embarrassed.] I didn't know which suited me, so I asked them to choose...
no subject
The tables have turned, VIETNAM IS CUTE?? Yeah, Vie is a nickname that suits her much better. Suck on that, Yata.
How does she go about using it other than just blurting it out? Hm. ]
That makes sense. [ No need to be embarrassed! ] People who work at clothing shops are probably happy to have customers ask them to choose what they should wear. They made a good choice for you.
But I think I want you to choose for me, instead.
no subject
And no, it's still Asuna??? She's going to fall in love with this nickname...sorry Yata.]
They are professionals, I am grateful to them. [Like she is when Taiwan offers her advice and the clothes actually fit for once.]
Are you sure you trust my judgement? [She's actually surprised by this, considering she just implied she might not be the most fashionable person around. At least, not without a magazine.]
no subject
Of course I'm sure. You liked the silk at Palaméde too, didn't you? So, our tastes are at least similar. [ She's still sad that they never had a chance to try sewing, what with Asuna's cloth getting ruined in the attack. She had used it to wrap it around a crying child, trying to comfort them somehow with a makeshift blanket. ]
Any second opinion when a girl goes shopping is valuable.
