[ It's been a pretty eventful arrival to Caissa so far. There was the whole 'waking up naked in a bed' deal but also that entire attack during the exposition. Souji knew that he was brought here because of a war but it was still one thing to be told that he had to participate in one and actually being tossed out there in the middle of an ambush. Luckily, things didn't go too badly but he go back to his room feeling a bit frustrated. There were all those people he could have helped but he didn't know how to do any sort of healing magic. It would have been so much easier if he had his Personas but that power got locked away the moment he awoke here. It's kind of annoying to relearn everything again but he can't just sit around feeling sorry for himself all day. He better start picking up some healing skills again. ]

[ And that's why Souji has been kind of camping out in the library for the past few days. Well, one of the reasons. The other reason is that Yukari kind of sort of accepted his offer to study this together. ]

[ They kind of ended their last encounter on a sour note (he can't really blame her) so he's hoping that she'll show up so they can kind of put that behind them. They only met a total of one whole time but he still doesn't like keeping things awkward, especially when she's right down the hall from him. He'd like it if he could make it up to her, maybe with all the books he managed to find on magic, but who knows if she'd show? He just sits at one of the tables with a bunch of books stacked up. He'll get through all these eventually... ]

[Look, it's been an emotional bit, and she was tired, and... okay, she might have overreacted, but at the same time, she feels just justified enough in her actions that apologies are off the table.

... Making something approximating friends, however, is not.

She arrives in the afternoon just a couple days after the messy start to her adventure in Caissa. The silver hair is a pretty good giveaway - it reminds her of Akihiko-senpai, even if longer, so she's drawn to the sight immediately.]

Heya. [That's her greeting, quiet as it should be in a library, and she takes stock of the mounds of books. Actually, she's kind of impressed he managed to pull all of them.]

[ It's all right, he's not expecting an apology since he kind of deserved all that yelling. Just her appearance is enough for him to know that she isn't as mad at him anymore and it's a relief really. ]

Hey. [ He gives a small smile. ] How're you feeling?

Better, I guess. Finally managed to get more information out of those dumb birds. [She sits opposite of him, stretching her back and her legs out a bit after plopping down.] You found a lot of books! I'm impressed. [Something's definitely back to being friendly with Yukari, like a flick of a switch... or the shift of the winds. A cool, gentle, spring breeze after he'd glimpsed the hurricane she could become. Almost too easily, but then, Yukari isn't as open as she pretends.] What'cha got on healing magic?

Did you learn anything new?

[ Souji definitely likes this nicer version of Yukari. It is ten times better than being screamed at. Though, to be honest, he's kind of surprised that he didn't get slapped after that whole bed incident. He almost figured it was coming. ]

Most of the stuff I've found talks about it in theory, but they're still a starting place. I've set out a few for you.

[ He grabs about two or three books that he set aside in a pile and places them in front of her. ]

Mmm... more, I kinda just confirmed something I already knew, I guess? Or... stuff people had already told me. The worst part is I gotta get used to a whole new magic system... [She takes the books as he hands them to her, sliding them in front of her, then lifting the top book from the pile and settling it in front of her.] ... So really, I didn't learn anything new. Just confirmed that I gotta bunch more questions.

[She just didn't get the chance to slap him. Try your luck again, Brotag.]

[ He's counting his blessings right now that he didn't get a slap. Thank you, God... ]

Yeah, that's about the same for me. I did manage to talk to someone about how to start learning magic though. [ Back in the intro thread with dear Kaito. ] It's apparently a lot of just trial and error. He suggested to find a spot and just have at it.

[ Which isn't very useful... ]

[Wow, that isn't very helpful, how sad.]

... Kinda hard when you don't have a target. And how're ya supposed to know you're healing right? [She shakes her head, and flips through a few pages of the book.] You'd have to ask for volunteers or something.

Yeah, it's not super helpful but that's apparently the only way to really learn on your own.

[ He sets down his book, opened to whatever page he's on. ]

At the very least, we can give ourselves a small nick and practise that way. It might not be too wise to ask for a volunteer when you're still trying to figure things out.

... Nick ourselves? ... Yeah, I guess. [Hurting herself or others to test out healing. That sounds...

... Not fun at all!]

Might as well read up on the theory first, if it's gonna come down to that, right?

Right.

[ He nods in agreement. He's not really looking forward to having to hurt himself just for this but it might be the only thing they can do at this point. ]

There's some useful information in the books. It talks about the different levels of healing magic. Obviously, the stronger you are in it, the more you could do and you have a greater range, but you could also get far enough to quicken skin growth or blood replenishment.

Well, I guess nothing to do but get into it, right?

[This is her quietly looking at him for a moment longer, and then lowering her head to look at her book.

Quiet study time, get.]

[ You have much heartache ahead of you, Yukari... Much heartache... But okay, getting to work is a good idea. Souji gets back to flipping through his books, just honestly scanning it for anything that may be useful. He's pretty good at just skimming through stuff, but hmm, everything here seems about the same. After about five minutes of this, he'd look up at Yukari. ]

Find anything helpful?

[If she's lucky, she'll never find out. But I'm not that nice. She seems to read things a little more thoroughly.]

... Mm. Just that it's different than what I'm used to, but I guess similar in some ways. It's a lot more hand gestures and... saying random stuff, it looks like, than anything else. Really, kinda looks like you just have to try it and find out.

[ Will you ever give Yukari a break... That is the real question here. ]

Mm, that's what I was told. It's easier to practise offensive magic that way but it's harder with defensive or supportive spells.

[ So this means that they might have to just go back to their idea of self-inflicted injuries to practise... ]

[Why would I ever do that.]
