DUNGEON ♛ SALAMANCA TEMPLE

SALAMANCA TEMPLE
20 MARCH (NARCISSA) 2016

Once a grand place of worship for the ancestors of the Alfersa, the thousand-year-old ruins of Salamanca Temple returned to their full glory overnight. However, it also seems to be teeming with ancient reptiles long thought to be extinct. As the Heroes enter, it’s clear that the multilevel temple is a prime example of the artistic achievements of its time. The rooms are lush with plantlife that creeps in between the cracks of marble tiles and statues of Gladia with serpents at her heel, and the walls are covered in paintings and bas-reliefs depicting a famous epic about the Alfersa’s victory over all reptilian creatures.

The majesty of Salamanca Temple almost makes one fact easy to forget: it was most infamous as a site of magic… and human sacrifices.

Our Heroes know that there’s only one way to get out of here: find and defeat the boss!

Lisbrand
I’m sure you’re all aware, to some extent, that in addition to the war with Noir, Blanc must deal with threats within its own borders. These are what we call dungeons, and we only have a basic working understanding of them. Think of them as natural phenomena. Your task is reconnaissance and retrieval of the mana cores believed to be hidden in the deepest part of the structure, but you will likely encounter resistance.

[a gesture to her side]

Secretary Verdoni has more details about the nature of the structure. Secretary, if you would.

Verdoni
This is Salamanca Temple, a sacred and important site of cultural heritage to the Alfersa. Grand temples such as this were supposed to fill the devout with hope, but the Gladia of old was not always a benevolent goddess. Gladia’s Alfersan cult was infamous for its taboo sacrificial rituals. As a result, this temple is shrouded in frightening rumors and legends. Over the course of its bloody history, many atrocities were committed over the most trifling matters... The most famous is the tale of Moura Serpente. Perhaps you Heroes will have the chance to personally witness the truth behind these hallowed walls.

Lisbrand
Our scouts are incapable of exploring the structure the way this task force can. Therefore, you will be the front line in this mission. Your issued magical weapon will grant you immediate access to the temple once you approach the entrance.

[and just to be safe, she gestures again. some of the Blanc soldiers who have tagged along for support functions march their way towards the appropriate door]

Base camp will be established just outside the temple, in the event that you need to leave the area.

Verdoni
Which means that the Airy will be here for a while. Once you finish the dungeon, you are free to retire to your quarters. If you don't feel like riding the ship again, then walk. The journey to Caissa on foot will take a week at most. I suggest heading north to spend the evening at the city of Polgar. I suppose walking is a good thing for you Heroes; we will not always have the luxury of air travel.

Lisbrand
We will be breaking camp in the evening to rendezvous with Airy, so if you are not out of the dungeon by that time, you will be walking back to Caissa.

[a pause]

But I expect a number of you will do so anyway. This country is on full alert, and traveling by foot should be relatively safe inside our borders, but I hope I don’t need to tell you to be vigilant. I will expect all members of the task force back in Caissa by Lathrya 8th. Heroes, move out!

Basic info on the dungeon can be found here. Dungeon mechanics can be found here. All OOC questions about the event may be directed to the thread below.

ONE

When you enter the temple, the flooring is surprisingly weak — wait, no. That’s a trap. And those are your screams.

You land in what seems to be the vast and sprawling corridors of the temple’s basement: dark, dank, and full of rats. But it’s more than just that — the smell of blood is thick in the air, and every so often, you might hear cries of agony. Magic circles, dried blood on ornate daggers, and tables with unspeakable tools for keeping mouths shut and human limbs in place… something tells you this is exactly what Verdoni warned you about.

MONSTER ♟ Lizardman
Weak against
None
Strong against
None
Immune to
None
Men cursed to roam Enprise in a LIZARD-LIKE FORM by the goddess Gladia. Some conspiracy theorists say they aren’t cursed. In fact, their kind was the first to inhabit Enprise before the Alfersa arrived on a giant spaceship! But locals will squint and silently judge if you honestly believe this.

These ANGRY, ARMORED lizardmen are equipped with BLADED WEAPONS and their surprisingly exceptional prowess in COMBAT. Their TOUGH SKIN and SHARP SENSES set them apart from your average human soldier. If you grab one by the tail, he’ll simply chop it off and grow one right back! But you might want to go ahead and take the risk — in alchemy, LIZARD TAILS are known for their regenerative properties.

Their WEAPONS, SMELLY ARMOR, TAILS and LOINCLOTHS may be acquired as loot.

Once you make it back to the first level where the laity worship, you’ll be met with... more lizardmen. But not all hope is lost! Find the switch on one of the many life-size Gladia statues to open the hidden door behind the altar and proceed. The switch’s location may vary for each party.

TWO

Only the clergy may enter the higher levels of the temple. Before they do, they must wash themselves in the pools of holy water that flank the entrance. These pools are so rich in mana, bathing in them will even replenish your own. As you splash around, you realize you’re not alone. Red and black lizard-like creatures emerge from the depths of the pools with eyes alight with fire and smoke blowing out of their nostrils. Looks like they woke up on the wrong side of the bed!

MONSTER ♟ Salamander
Weak against
Water
Strong against
Ice
Immune to
Fire (except salamander fire)
In Enprise, salamanders are not amphibians, but FIRE-BREATHING reptiles the length of crocodiles. They have sticky pads on their feet that enable them to CRAWL UP WALLS and LEAP on unsuspecting victims. We hope your spars with the feathered inhabitants of Airy prepared you for this.

When COOKED, a salamander’s MEAT can BURN ANYTHING that consumes it. However, it can only be cooked with SALAMANDER FIRE. It’d be wise to keep one alive to cook the rest. We suggest using the FLAME on the tip of its tail — less teeth and much safer.

The SALAMANDER PARTS and MEAT may be acquired as loot.

At the other end of the room, there is a door with… teeth? That breathing sound isn’t your imagination; the door is very much alive and will chomp at anything that gets too close. Time to get creative. Behind the door is a staircase to the next level.

THREE

Among the rooms on this level filled with treasures of wines, weapons, gemstones and gold is a large shrine with an imposing 20-foot tall statue of Gladia, a thick needle, pieces of cord and a scroll rolled out on a raised pedestal. Written in old Chernovian are instructions in poetry that varies for each party: Heroes must make a necklace out of the eyes of snakes and offer it to the statue. Those who did their research will be familiar with this practice: by doing this, you are giving her all your bad luck and having her bless your journey ahead.

You’ll need all the luck you can get because the moment you finish reading the scroll with your eyes, hundreds of snakes begin to slither out Gladia’s eyes, nose and mouth.

MONSTER ♟ Alfersan Snake
Weak against
None
Strong against
None
Immune to
Poison
“Hissss...!”
Men who were transformed into snakes by the goddess Gladia. Alfersan snakes are HOSTILE and VENOMOUS, but their powerful venom is also known to create the most potent of antidotes. Some adventurers might hate snakes more than others, but you Heroes can do this much, right?

The SNAKE PARTS and VENOM can be acquired as loot.

Once the necklace is complete and offered to the statue, the statue will turn, revealing another staircase to the next level.

FOUR

Men weren’t the only ones punished by Gladia. One thousand years ago, the priestess Moura grew envious of a higher member of the clergy, whom everyone preferred over the selfish, narcissistic Moura. What did that woman have that she didn’t? Consumed by these negative thoughts, Moura transformed the woman into a snake and chopped her into pieces for Gladia, praying that the goddess would hear her plea.

In an instant, Gladia answered: “All your life you have lived a lesser being, so a lesser being you shall become!” With these words, the goddess cursed Moura with a head of full of venomous snakes. Ashamed of her appearance, she locked herself up in the temple to fully devote herself to Gladia. They say that Moura lives up to this day, waiting for Gladia to grant her salvation...

As our Heroes enter a large, circular room at the top floor, they will see a desolate young woman muttering the prayers beautifully inscribed in gold leaf on the walls. Olive skin, pointed ears and amber eyes — there’s no doubt that she is Alfersa. As she raises her head and meets their eyes, she greets them with an eerie, twisted smile.

And so do the snakes in her hair.

BOSS ♟ Moura Serpente
Weak against
Fire
Strong against
None
Immune to
Poison
“You are not from this world. … Ehehe… Ahahaha! Oh! Oh, praise Gladia!”
Believing the Heroes to be her divine retribution, Moura wastes no time. At the snap of her fingers, a GIANT SERPENT crashes into the room and slithers to its master’s side. The serpent is strong and quick, and when Moura hops on its back, she is nearly untouchable. Strike its soft UNDERSIDE to get some damage in!

“To deliver judgement and receive judgement — that is why I exist. I live for no one but my goddess...”
The SNAKES ON HER HEAD are a deadly force on their own: they can extend, retract, and even change color according to Moura’s mood. Moura can also use them to get around. When the snakes sink their teeth into your flesh, their bite can either POISON or PETRIFY. The venom will grant its victim DIZZINESS and NAUSEA. We hope you stocked up on antidotes. The remedy for petrification, however, is A KISS ON THE LIPS. One from your true love won’t have any special effect, but that’s rather sweet of them, don’t you think?

PRAYING to Gladia — even if by just talking or asking her for anything — will grant you a temporary RESISTANCE TO POISON.

“Why? Why do you listen to their prayers and not mine? … Heh… Gladia did always favor the pretty ones!”
If you are PRETTY, Moura with direct her rage at you and chase you down. And if everyone is pretty? She’ll take down the prettiest first. To make matters worse, swarms of ALFERSAN SNAKES begin to crawl over the Heroes to distract you and restrict your movements. Don't fret; the TORCHES in the room will help ward both snakes and Moura away.

“My goddess, is this enough...?”
When you deal your final strike, Moura appears unharmed. But she falls a second later, sprawled on the marble floor and looking up at the ceiling. Slowly, her eyes close and her chest stills. Is she at peace? A glowing object rises and floats above her chest — your first DUNGEON CORE.

MOURA’S ARMOR and TOMES ON STATUS MAGIC may be acquired as loot.

You may exit the temple by going back the way you came or jumping out the hole Moura’s serpent made. Falling to your death won’t be a problem — the giant serpents of the temple see you as their new masters. They will catch you and let you hop off their backs once they reach the ground.

FIVE

Salamanca Temple is in a secluded area, so the Airy is parked at an open meadow. Walking back involves cutting your way south across the jungle and crossing the river. We hope you brought a map and a compass! Both are available for purchase on the Airy. The Airy will leave for Caissa on the evening of the 20th. It will arrive in Caissa on the 22nd.

For those who want to explore, the jungle gets thicker as you head north until you find winding stone paths that lead to the city of Polgar.

LOCATION ♟ Polgar

Although Polgar is a city relatively untouched by Blanc’s technological advances, it remains one of the country's largest urban centers due to its TOURISM. The city is home to the ALFERSA, a matriarchal society similar to that of the Amazons, in which men are often relegated to housework and manual labor. Most Alfersa believe that machines are no replacement for good hard work and prefer to live alongside NATURE, though small clockworks and machinery do exist in certain parts of the city.

TROPICAL FLORA blankets Polgar and its architecture. There are many TEMPLES and SHRINES here dedicated to Gladia, Lathyra and Oubliette, all well-kept as the Alfersa are proud of their heritage. For the gods, their faith does not waver. Some of their festivals last entire months, with the celebration moving from shrine to shrine in resplendent procession.

Polgar is also a popular tropical GETAWAY; its spas, resorts, restaurants, hot springs and brothels are all well-known and high-class, staffed by beautiful men and women and catering to all preferences.

[ "I shall offer each of you to my goddess... The annoying woman, that lowborn street cat, as well as—" Moura pulls herself together after Setsuna's attack. In order to make the Meister back off, she threatens her snakes to bite at him as well — those on the floor apart from the remaining on her hair. She's quickly assisted back on her feet by her slithering slaves, and she gives the last Hero a look over. Again, she feels her rage bubbling away as she realizes it: a silent beauty before her eyes. But she didn't want to recognize it, no, not now, or ever. "Ahaha... Ahaha! You barely speak, it's as if you're already dead! Soulless one! Come here, boy... Let me groom you to fit your horrifying aura!"

The priestess seems to recognize that she'll lose against a close quarters combat with Setsuna, so she retreats and climbs onto her giant companion for now. As if to punish the giant snake for allowing itself to get injured, she slaps its head once as she's taken high. From this height, she looks down at the Heroes... Since the other two are still busy making a fool of themselves, she wouldn't have trouble focusing on the seemingly most dangerous one. At least, from his display so far — she regards him as so. As if to fulfill her words, she now takes command of the towering serpent to point at the youngest Hero in the room.

Setsuna has to think fast... While his mana isn't quite in the red area yet, it's undoubtedly spent because of his earlier attack on the giant snake. He shouldn't waste any mana on the smaller snakes approaching him. That's why he takes a quick look around the room, trying to recall anything important he learned throughout this temple so far. He remembers it... The way the lizardmen cried out when Gilgamesh first used a fire spell on them. Would that mean the snakes in this place, perhaps Moura herself too, is afraid of fire? That's when it dawns on him. Right beside him, a large torch stands above... He doesn't hesitate to take the entire pole, slamming it right against the mob of snakes to burn them away from him. The creatures flee as they catch fire, leaving only the giant serpent locked on him.

Though, this means that Setsuna used up the flames. After receiving the opportunity to lunge forward, the giant now attempts to devour Setsuna whole. He stops the move by ramming the empty pole against its mouth, piercing the area near its sensitive nose as he holds his ground. However, he's just a single Pawn... Though he has a small advantage because of his natural strength, that very strength of his was also lowered because of mana interference. He isn't as strong as he used to be. That's why he's struggling to hold the pole, his knees beginning to sink down by the second.

"Shall we turn you into a Sleeping Beauty now?" ]

[Right. No more time for these silly games. Think, think. But nothing comes to mind, and then Gilgamesh realizes he has the answer: when in doubt, a maiden's kiss was rumored to cure all manner of ailments. He's not exactly a maiden, even if he's pretty enough to qualify, but...

But he has to try. With Setsuna doing just as he was told and occupying Moura, Gilgamesh takes loose hold of Vietnam's stony cheeks. A gentleman would've apologized for what he was about to do; Gilgamesh was no such thing, so he kisses her and kisses her passionately right on the lips. And holds it. And holds it. And holds it for a little too long, maybe, because she's already starting to turn a healthy color again, but one can never be too sure.

Yet it's not the kiss that's most daring. Gilgamesh takes hold of her arms, as well, holds her still transformed rifle with her and assumes a firm stance behind. Together, with mana transfer initiated between them, they are all the stronger. Together, they can take down any threat. Vietnam can only stand to benefit, with a master Archer now at her side and doling out commands.]

Twenty-five degrees, northeast. Aim for the cranium.

[Tilting her arm, he guides her trigger finger true. He blasts off a shot, and it nails the snake right in its tiny brain, sending it slumping to the ground. Next comes Moura, who's plummeted onto her back with a terrible scream, mourning the loss of her beloved pet and swearing revenge as she attempts to recover.

His eyes narrow as he directs the nozzle of the gun towards her heart.]

Thirty-two degrees, downward. Fire until you've run out of shots.

[Gilgamesh releases Vietnam, and leaves the rest to her. Whether it hits or not, Gilgamesh closes in. He's winding up, he's gaining on her, he grits his teeth, and with almost cruel fury, he kicks her fragile body as far as he can manage. Moura skids across the floor and stops moving.

This does not, however, mean they have yet won. It would best to approach with caution, if at all.]

[Such fairy tales usually never come true. A maiden's kiss, one from a prince, et cetera. However, it seems like they are in a fairy tale, and really, Vietnam is none the wiser for what actually unfolded.

Well, she did vaguely recall that Gilgamesh's lips were pressed against hers. No, actually, she did definitely remember it, because he was with her the whole time. If she wasn't so exhausted, perhaps she would've headbutted him. But either way: arms held, and he's aiming for her as her body starts to loosen up. Whatever exhausted her before was beginning to replenish now with just his presence alone.

What can she say, he certainly moves and thinks fast, and the man can shoot. With the snake down, Vietnam can see that Setsuna has his opening now, even though she was unable to react at the time.

It was only when Gilgamesh aims for her again that she has full control of her body again. She shoots just barely after he released her.]

I don't know what happened, Gilgamesh, but thank you. I won't fail again.

[Because while Moura can still move, and who knows, she might even summon another snake, Vietnam still has plenty of bullets with her as she flips open the pouches on her belt, ready to reload the next round as she empties bullets into Moura's chest. There's something a bit more wild about the way she fights now, and it's probably because she knows, and is furious, about being out of commission. Setsuna and Gilgamesh are depending on her to cover their rear.

That and she really wants them to remove Moura's head.]

[ The fight would've been over. It should've been over. But it isn't that simple, at least Moura would like to say so. She takes the bullets, screeching in further pain as she's constantly thrown like a rag doll. She bleeds, but the bullets don't bury against her skin because of her chest armor. But no more; she angrily yells as a spell circle appears underneath her, most likely summoning the remaining of her strength. Even if she can't win against all three Heroes...

"I'll take... you with me, fake god!! Surely, surely with at least you... The goddess will be satisfied!" Being the closest in proximity, Moura stands up one last time as she lunges towards Gilgamesh. Her hands are threateningly glowing from her activated spell, ready to grab hold of the King as her last stand. In that instance, her twisted smile greets him. Transferring the spell into a sacrificial dagger from her side, she raises the blade high... High, higher as her smile twists further. She thrusts her poison-laced weapon forward, aiming for the King's own heart as if to repay everything he did to her.

The sound of flesh in contact. Blood drips to the floor. Though as Moura was about to revel in her vengeance, she realizes that someone else is in place of her intended target. Setsuna instead stands before his King, holding his ground — a continued empty expression faces the world, despite the pain surging through his body. Soundlessly as he approached, an equal silence continues as he stands. He didn't even cry out. His consciousness nearly drops as both the poison spell and the physical injury quickly surround him; his vision is splitting, and he can no longer fight from this point on. Though he holds his ground... As if he doesn't want to fail as a shield for the King. He didn't want to let Vietnam down, either... He can't... ]

King... Are you... all right?

[ "H-How are you still standing...?" Moura herself is in disbelief of Setsuna's willpower, but she doesn't want to waste the opportunity. After shaking her surprise off, she once again raises her blade — while this boy is weak, she will finish him! ]

[personal profile] babbylon 2016-03-24 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Bang, bang, bang. Gilgamesh hears the recoil of Vietnam's gun and so knows the shots will find their marks. He never claimed to be a gentleman, least of all now when he delights in Moura's pain, in watching her face twist with agony. And Vietnam's own expression, that of a woman turned positively merciless, serves as its own reward, too. He liked his women fierce; catty little wenches, however, had no place in his domain. Moura reminds him of Ishtar and for this alone she must die.

It's his mistake, really. At first he exercises caution, as he rightly should, but curiosity gets the better of him. He draws close, too close, and that's when Moura strikes. His eyes go wide, he reaches for his sword, yet already he recognizes he won't be fast enough. She was quicker to the draw. He prepares to fight but braces for the pain he knows will come.

He almost doesn't see it, it happens so fast. There's a sudden leap, followed by a grunt of pain. Someone else has taken the blow, the blow meant for him, and it could only be one person. With shock, he gazes upon Setsuna's form, wounded yet still standing. It bewilders him, because even he, a great King, a so-called fake god, would've crumpled from such an attack, but Setsuna suffers it like he would anything else. He reaches for him and his hands quiver and he stammers and he stumbles over what to say, what to do...

Kill her.

Kill her, kill her, kill her.

It's like back with the lizardmen. Rage overtakes him, except this time, it's sharp. Precise. Calming. Not blind, but with a clear target. His face goes blank. He hears the voice and now, now it's clear, this demands retribution of the highest and swiftest order. His free hand claps upon Setsuna's shoulder, a means to reassure. Keep standing for me, brave knight. And then, in a ruthless swipe, Gilgamesh returns the favor while Moura despairs over her own weakness.

Gilgamesh impales her through the head. Pushes his blade as deep as it will go. Once, twice, three times, and many, many more—a testament to her meddlesome fortitude that she survives long enough to sputter her last pathetic words, "My goddess, is this enough...?"

He drives the sword through her mouth so she can speak no more. Is she at peace? In a sense, as much as one ever could be gargling on their own blood to the end.]
hoasen: (visualise)

[personal profile] hoasen 2016-03-24 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[Having distance was how she would be able to warn the others. Vietnam's focused attack on Moura meant that she saw Gilgamesh move forward, but didn't quite register that this distance would be dangerous for him. And when it was too late, Setsuna, who was the closest, took the blow. She didn't even have time to scream.]

Setsuna--!

[The angle she saw the attack from made it look a lot more lethal than it was, especially when Moura charges up her spell and courses it through that blade. But she had this feeling that the most dangerous person in this room now was not Moura and her frantic madness, but Gilgamesh. He didn't even speak. And then it was all over for Moura, felled by a swift strike that left her choking on her own blood. Dangerous, but beautiful. Perhaps he is the fairest in the land, when it comes to bloodshed verses bloodshed.

There's no time to celebrate, nor is there time to ponder over ending Moura's misery fast (besides, Vietnam would like her to suffer a bit for revenge, and she's already dead). Setsuna was wounded in the attack.

Gilgamesh replenished her mana enough before, and she hasn't even used any part of it after she was revived. Immediately she goes to Setsuna's side, holding onto him and placing her hand over his wound.

But she knows it's not enough. Moura did something to that blade. But right now, she could at least ease the pain of the injury.]

Do you have something for this?

[ What was happening now? Setsuna couldn't keep his eyes open anymore. His strength is continuously fading as the poison runs through his body. But he can hear it... The sound of more blood falling to the ground, though whose? He couldn't find out. As the massacre comes into play that night, the remaining of his consciousness is taken away.

"My goddess, is this enough...?" He does wonder that himself. While he doesn't believe in gods, this isn't his world. Perhaps gods and goddesses really do exist here, but it doesn't matter either way... He still won't believe in them. Regardless, he can't help himself to a certain thought. Because Moura believes so intently, he found himself asking in his mind, Gladia, take care of her. As someone on a journey to understanding, he wanted to understand that girl as well... What really happened in this temple? Why did Moura allow herself to fall into the darkness? He'll probably never know, but this is at least he can do for her.

Although the young Meister wanted to keep standing, he can only endure so much. He hears Vietnam's question, but it too fades from his mind. Shortly after, his knees give in. He drops to the ground, but is by coincidence caught by a patch of flowers. Setsuna lies there, among the flowers which soon get tainted by his poisoned blood. There are some that remain untouched however, making the scene look... almost like a painting. Gladia, as if touched by Setsuna's thoughts, grants him healing from the poison. Although, his wound is still open and would require immediate aid. This is all she can do for him. ]

[personal profile] babbylon 2016-03-24 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Once Moura finally breathes her last, Gilgamesh drops his sword and drops to his knees before Setsuna.

He gathers him up, among his precious flowers. He holds him. Blood smears his clothes and stains them but Gilgamesh is spiteful and cradles him all the closer because of it; even at full strength, he was no healer. He could do nothing for Setsuna besides provide him a paltry healing spell, and this small comfort. It would amount to little, but a steady flow of mana would at the very least save his life.

So he joins with Vietnam and presses their hands together, over the wound. He shakes his head at her question and murmurs something vague, some expression of helplessness, I do not know, I do not know. His lips skirt the top of Setsuna's brow. He could claim it's because every bit of contact helps, but it's as much to reassure himself as anything else. And even if Setsuna fades out consciousness, he addresses him anyway.]

Only a fool swears himself to such a terrible King. What use have I for knights? And yet...

[He reaches to pick one of the unblemished blooms. He opens Setsuna's hand so he might have it, closes his fist around the stem so that he might carry it. One flower in the snow, one flower in the temple. Why was it was always just one flower? Gilgamesh does not know that, either.

He looks to Vietnam beseechingly, unwilling to part from his charge for now.]

We have rightfully earned the spoils of battle. Would you collect them? He will yet live, but nor would he want us to overlook the pains of our efforts.

[When Setsuna drops, Vietnam drops down to her knees with him, so that her hand will never leave his wound. But it was there that she felt something strange. Calming? She wasn't sure, but Setsuna's body is no longer as wrecked as it once was. It's like the healing itself would be enough to ensure his survival now, unlike before when she worried over whether or not he was going to die. It doesn't leave him when Gilgamesh draws Setsuna into his arms either.

She takes a deep breath as she continues to channel all the mana she has into the healing spell. It drains first, so Gilgamesh will have to continue. Gilgamesh is more affected by this than he probably would like her to know.]

Perhaps not a Knight. [Vietnam says as she watches Gilgamesh retrieve the flower.] I believe humans have ways to describe a stronger connection than just a King and his knight. [Even though she respects Gilgamesh for being one of those who lead to her existence, she's lived long enough to watch humans just...be. That kind of thinking can change now, in the modern era. Bonds can be stronger.

She rubs his hand twice, before sweeping away Setsuna's bangs, and then stands.]

You can both rest now. I will be back shortly. [She leaves them, for Setsuna to rest and for Gilgamesh to watch over him, and investigates Moura's body. Interestingly, what hovers over her body was the core they kept talking about, so she takes that first, putting it safely in her pouch. If this is claimed, then that means there is probably nothing else here in this dungeon to see. Tomes on...status magic? She puts those away too. And then she takes whatever armour is on Moura, despite the blood stains and the bullet dents. These can probably be fixed, but for now, she will have to carry. And potentially invest in getting more luggage.

Setsuna wouldn't be able to carry all of that until he recovers, since he's on bag duty whenever he's traveling with her. After all of this, she should be easier on him. Vietnam starts to make her way back.]

Whenever you are ready to leave.
