(CLOSED) CHICKEN CORDON BLEUS
Who: Minato (
burnmydread) & Tamamo (
mikooon)
When: February 6th, evening
Where: Hall of Heroes
What: Minato accepted Quest #1: Attain meat for a Hero's Meal. Minato completed Quest #1. Time to have dinner.
Rating: None (unless Food Network needs a rating)
[ Finding chicken when you're broke isn't that easy.
Sure, he kept an eye out on the weekly menu to see if there was anything he could snatch, but it really came down to the fact that Minato would have go to out into town and find some. Okay, he could do that. He's accepted stranger requests before and it usually works out in the end.
But even Heroes need to pull their own wait. For as generous as samples had been on their arrival day, frequenting some of the same cafes and restaurants, Minato found that they expected him to pay this time. Hm, problem. He'd accepted another job on the Bulletin Board to build a snowman, but it didn't lend much in regards to how much he needed. So what does one do when they don't have money to pay for things?
Sell themselves.
Except...it's really not as dirty as that sounds. With how busy Kabe Market's bazaar is, there were a number of people willing to use a couple hours of his service for something small in return. Moving items, sometimes just...generally sharing stories about their lives because he seems like an appropriate person to info dump on. The usual. He got a few snacks along the way, which was nice, but it wasn't until he moved to a few of the more grocery-oriented alcoves and shop fronts. Help make sure a shipment gets from here to there, deal with the evening rush--goodness, he does stay calm under pressure, or is he just sleepy?--but at the end of the day, he came through. And so did his reward.
It's just the end of the normal dinner period, but Minato is hoping that missing out on the free cafeteria food isn't going to bite his ass in the end. "Caster", as she called herself, seemed pretty excited at the idea of preparing a decent meal and to be honest, he was pretty down with some of the things she'd been rattling off as well.
Hopefully she got his message. Otherwise he's going to look kind of weird standing near the bulletin board with a cloth sack full of something and his feline carrier perched on his shoulder. ]

Not... because she has the Velvet Room yelling in her head, but. Same idea.]
Perfect! Little did they realize when they summoned us that us Heroes have much more use than just fighting. [Speaking of which, since they're friends now, and Tamamo hasn't really had friends for the past 1000 years or so, she claps her hands together dramatically.] Through our bond forged through our collective stomachs, may we support each other on the fields of battle, too!
[WHA... WHERE DID THAT COME FROM.]
...After I clear these bones and wash up. [She grabs the plate, getting up from her seat.] Do you have anything to do in the evening? I'm going to try sharpening up my magic... if I can. After all, we'll all eventually have to go to war, right?

Either way, the chicken bird things is delicious and his stomach is finally full. He has no regrets about this. None what-so-ever.
He actually smiles a little at her appraisal. Just a little. It's a ridiculous speech, but...it's cute. Even he can't resist that. (And unlike others who shall remain nameless, his social links don't immediately offer to die for you, which...is probably fair.)
Her question makes him raise his brows slightly. Other than digest? He shakes his head. ]
I was just going to go back to my room. [ SO... ] But I'll join you, if that's what you're offering.

So we have an excuse to infomod about each other's weapons if we end up in a dungeon together.Once Tamamo dumps away the bones and shoddily washes the plate by barely scrubbing it with any soap, she's so ready to start TRAINING.Which means: pulling out a garden chair in the courtyard, crossing her legs, and pulling out her magical fan to summon a light gust of wind while admiring the view.]
Is the wind too cold? Too slow? Too fast? [Even a light wave with mana being sent through it creates a light breeze throughout the the courtyard... how terrifying. Mana is a powerful tool indeed.] It's good to work up a sweat after eating, but not too much.

Similarly he watches as she uses her fan to cast garu--that's what it is, right? Except it's not hitting a specific target, but instead affecting the area as a whole. Interesting. ]
I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. [ He's still casual about the whole thing, moving to stand a few feet away from her chair. ] Do you want to knock someone down?

SHE'S SO MEAN.]
I suppose I could! But exercising proper control and knowing how to use your magic to its lowest strength is just as important. [Thus is her reasoning for summoning a nice breeze for herself. This is totally 'training'.] What kind of weapon did you get?

--...ah. Too late. She really is very cruel to that poor thing. Minato shares a sympathetic look with his cat, who...actually just trots on over to its fallen brethren. You okay there, buddy? ]
Mmm...that's a good way of looking at it.
[ He's quiet, but he is actually impressed. She's right, being able to exercise a range of control over her abilities will make her a more effective fighter in general.
Having conveniently been carrying his weapon with him at all times (he has to be a good hirable Hero, after all), Minato unsheathes his blade. It's a falchion-style sword, single handled with a curved edge. The blade itself is actually fairly dark. ]
This. I haven't really used it much yet.

She eyes his sword, thinking of Gawain, and then she shudders. That guy was such an asshole. (No, Tamamo, you're just biased.)] Give it a try! I heard they gave us all weapons with something magical to them. Swing it in the air!
[Inb4 it's an alternate reality opener. I-it won't be, right? Right?!]
no subject
They all have something magical? Hm. He guesses that's not too different than some of his synthesized weapons from back home, right?
Well, as long as it doesn't like cast Megidola, they should be fine.
Ahaha.
Minato pauses before he gives the sword a sort of lackluster swing.
Nope. Nothing.
He purses his lips slightly as he makes a wider arch, and for his effort, the blade just...well, it doesn't look all that different, but it does feel a little chilly on the handle. ]
...Huh.
[ Impressed yet, Tamamo? ]
