Obligatory Beach Episode (the actual beach part)

Who: Everyone at the beach (and Vietnam)

Where: Capablanca: Beach
What: In order to complete a few jobs set in Capablanca, a volleyball match and a beach bbq happened (at different times). As usual, everyone can end up joining for no goddamn reason (other than money maybe).
Rating: PG is always the safe option.

VOLLEYBALL

[In order to complete this job and win the trust of the merfolk, a beach volleyball session has been organised. What are they going to do? It has been suggested that they play on the shallows, stick up a net and then hit balls back and forth to the merfolk. Seems easy enough...right?

WRONG. Beach Volleyball is super intense. Start planning your strategies, because you could be unfortunate in that your mermaid friends are actually professional underwater volleyballers. Which is probably like Blitzball or something.]


BEACH BBQ

[One of the best ways to learn about each other and also WIN THE TRUST of local populace is to hold a random Beach Barbeque. Who knows where Vietnam managed to amass all these ingredients for the barbeque (trade secret) but everyone can help cook! If they know how. Alternatively, all barbeques need people to EAT so come judge the food. And talk and make merry.

There is word going around that someone left a whole case of alcohol for mixing. Who on earth brought that?! (And left a convenient list of drinks and how to mix them). We'll blame the proprietor of a bar who wants more publicity.]

[Aigis is, as always, not exactly built for sand. Her body is heavy and due to the construction of her legs, there's a very small point of contact with the ground, so she sinks in a few inches with every step she takes. Still, that doesn't deter her.

She's also fully clothed, in full uniform. It keeps the sand out of her joints.] Volleyball... the objective of the game is to land the ball on the ground on the other side of the court, isn't it?

Don't they hit the ball with their heads? and the ball goes up up into the air! Wooshh!

[ Kobato isn't completely sure of the rules either. They're both at a loss it seems. She did play sports with children back in the kindergarten though. Her knowledge is only limited sadly. ]

Ah! Then we're supposed to hit the ball with our heads?

[No, that doesn't seem right.] I thought you were supposed to use your hands...

We were? [ She laughs weakly and smiles. Shame that Kobato doesn't know the true meaning behind sports. Oh well. ]

Let's use our hands! By the way are you going to play in that?

[ Kobato points towards Aigis outfit. It looks hard to move in. ]

Yes, I am. [She nods, a polite smile on her face.] With my body covered, there's less of a chance that sand will get into places... I would really rather it not get into.

[She means her machinery. Not that the other girl can tell.]

Alright, if you say so! [ Kobato smiles even though she doesn't know that Aigis is a robot. ]

Sand can make anyone feel yucky. It's hard to remove too, isn't it?

[Sometimes washing it out doesn't help.]

Yes, it's very difficult! You can have to go into the water, and even then, it doesn't guarantee a full clean. Do you find the feeling of sand 'yucky,' miss?

Yup, it gets stuck in my hat and it's really hard to take out.

My name isn't "Miss" you can just call me Kobato! What's your name?

[ Kobato offers Aigis a handshake and a bright smile. It looks like she wants to be friends! There seems to be no harm in doing so as far as she's concerned. ]

My name is Aigis. It's very nice to meet you, Kobato-san. [She looks down at the extended hand for a moment and hesitates before reaching out and taking it. Kobato should immediately realize that beneath the white glove isn't normal human skin, but hard metal, instead.] Why not just take the hat off, though?

Nice to meet you too, Aigis!

[ Whoa, it's too hard to be a human hand. She doesn't question it however. Metal hands and arms should be the least of their worries. Aigis is friendly enough and that's all that matters to Kobato at the moment. She's simple minded. ]

I'd prefer to keep it on. It's a good source of shade!

Yes, I suppose it would be! Though... there are other hats that produce even more shade, actually.

Have you considered a sombrero?

Sombrero? [ Kobato looks at Aigis in surprise! ]

You mean like those fancy large hats with jingles?

[ Not all sombreros have fancy jingles Kobato...! She makes a gesture with her hand indicating how big sombreros are.]

I don't think it's considered particularly fancy, and I don't think it needs the jingles!

But yes, it's a wide-brimmed hat worn in countries like Mexico to protect the wearer from sunlight. It produces quite a bit of shade with its large brim!

So a nice hat without jingles....hm, I'll think about it. Thank you Aigis!

You're so considerate. Have you been to Mexico before? It must be sunny place if they need really huge hats.

[Not that sunny and warm is necessarily a bad thing...Kobato's never been to Mexico before. It makes her curious. Aigis seems to have an idea of what Mexcio's environment is like at least. ]

No, I haven't! Before coming here, I'd never been out of Japan. But it's my understanding that Mexico is a very warm, sunny country in many parts.

Oh I see! I think it might be nice to travel there sometime.

Everyone's going to need a sombrero in Mexico.

[ Kobato hasn't been to many places herself so she understands. ]

Mexican and Mexican-inspired food is very popular in countries like America, but I've never had it.

I would imagine a sombrero isn't necessary if one is inside, though.

Yeah, you have a nice roof over your head! It'd be nice if we could go inside though.

I'm not too good at sports! [ Especially not volley ball!]

Sports... [She eyes the volleyball net with curiosity and some trepidation.] I don't know if I'm good at sports. I've never played any.

We'll find out if you're good at sports or not today!

Isn't it exciting? Sometimes I wish I could run really fast. Are you a fast runner Aigis?

[It'll help her a lot if she can back up her movements with speed.]

Hmmm... running? I wonder. [She seems to be giving this far too much thought.] It's true that I can reach considerable speeds if running in a straight line. But given my increased mass, I'm concerned I may not be able to change directions quickly. Isn't that required for this sport?

Oh yeah, you're right! You have to go where the ball is.

Don't worry about it I believe in you! They always say you'll never know how good you are until you try!

[Kobato doesn't seem too worried about Aigis agility. She'd probably be faster than Kobato at any rate. ]
