Going from certain death to certain falling body almost ending him is a lot to take in in a short span, and while he still isn't as fast as he is used to being, he has enough presence of mind to at least scramble out of the way, falling backwards onto the ground but narrowly avoiding being crushed by the fallen rider.

In the interest of trying a bit harder at this whole 'self-preservation' thing, he immediately climbs back to his feet, though the noise he makes is more despairing that disgusted. If he was worried about one griffon, two is certainly more than he is prepared to handle, even though he's not alone.]
