That's a lot of words to say that our hosts are goddamn incompetent, which I think has been extraordinarily obvious from day one. The government here is complacent, removed, sluggish. Just like any other lumbering hierarchy. Its people suffer for it, and so do we, by extension.

But I won't blame the civilians for the action--or inaction--of their leaders. They deserve our compassion. Our help. We should work to prevent something like this from happening again.
