[open] and even the doctor can't tell the state of his heart
Who: Doctor Thunderland Junior (
corpsedoctor and OPEN.
When: Beginning of July.
Where: Around Caissa.
What: Disheartened at the news of so many killed, he attempts to reassess his heart and abilities.
Rating: None. Spoilers for Letter Bee.
[ the suns are shining. of course, they would. but he's found that as each day passes that it does, he is a little less surprised. he turns his hand over to look at how his once pale skin has tanned enough that he looks less like a ghost. there was a thought that someone who grew up underneath the artificial sunlight would not actually be capable of handling two real suns. but what has ever changed "heart" to "mana" has allowed him to live here. ]
But to live here ... to be here ... it is because that is the wish of the people. The people are not the government. [ thunderland tells this to maka. the owl-griffon appears to listen as she sits next to him. ] The wishes for some salvation and to not answer that letter ... it would be unfortunate. It is different than curing the ill or discovering a vaccine. [ his carrier seems to understand as it curls to rest at his side. ]
We were able to complete our mission but ... the hearts of those that I answered are in flux. [ a small sigh. ] For good reason. I would not call the fault to our Heroes. We did not know that would be the end result and I would say that to them. [ his hand rests to scratch underneath her chin. ] This is not the face to show new Heroes... both those who came to that train and those who are coming now. They must be greeted with a view of victory rather than that of defeat.
Or how else will their hearts survive? [ his head drops. ] I must work harder to understand my own mana ... and heart.
