Being petty and hurting others can be the easiest thing in the world. A person may get a rush from it. There's power, or what they think is power, beating someone to the ground.

Or they're so caught up in their own ego trip that they haven't realized that they've hurt anyone at all.

It's easy to do, easier to understand.
